absolutely terrific. My wife and I spent a few a days in port a and looked around for a nice place to relax have a few drinks and snack on some good food. This was exactly what I was looking for. We had the wings and they where great. Not something warmed up in a micro but fresh fried and delcious.I will definitely come back.
Review Source:On my first night in Port Aransas, my friend brought me here talking about how great the burgers were. They have this thing called the Jack Daniels and Coke burger, I'm not certain how they make that..... but it was AWESOME. The bun was great and the burger never fell apart, thank God!
The place was pretty much a hole in the wall, much like every business in Port A. Â Anyways, I was very surprised with how great the food was here. This was the best meal I could find in Port Aransas.
I'm giving this place 4 stars on the 5 star dive bar scale. Â
There are quite a few dive bar choices for Port A. Â This place is one of the better ones. Â
We went there to grab a bit to eat. Â They focus on Burgers and Pizza. Â Burgers are all Angus Beef, half pounders. Â Great burgers. Â
Bartender was also our waiter, and for being somewhat crowded service was perfect. Â
Beers were cold, and he made a Mexican Martini for my wife that she loved. Â She had 4. Â
I will be hitting this place on every trip to Port A.
The diviest dive with the best burgers in Port A. Â Had the Jack Daniels burger with pepper jack cheese sans bun. Â Peppery and sweet with a fantastic sauce. The fries were a bit over cooked. Â I think they dumped some old ones in with new ones.
Saw peanut shells on the floor but could not find any peanuts and were not offered any. Â Pool tables, an outdoor patio, lots of beer on tap served in mason jars, sports on TV and friendly service.
The best bar I've been to in Port Aransas. Â The dive-y atmosphere is super laid back, their food smells awesome and they have decent prices for booze. Â We ordered a few beers here and would have ordered some burgers had we not made dinner plans but I know next time we come down to Port A, we're sticking with the Wild Horse. Â Gotta get there early though, they fill up fast.
Review Source:By far best eating on the island. An ole fashioned beer joint with flat screens on the wall. Had onion chips with couple of cheeseburgers with bacon strips. Same kind mom would make as well as the fries. Service the best since coming to the island. Wife enjoyed very cool beer served in mason jar. We had lunch and there weren't many customers. Gregory served us with a hand shake and smile and made sure we had everything we needed. Will go back.
Review Source:By far my favorite place on the island for burgers and bar food. Great place to watch a game, just ask them to throw it up on the TV or the projection screen. The bar tenders here are hands down the best on the island. This is a great place to kick back eat some fried food and drink some beer. Only complaint is that the draft beer selection isn't great and the beer and food is somewhat pricey. It's not expensive, just not a bargain.
Review Source:Me and the wild bachlorette gang stopped in here for a shot to kick off the night. i admit this place seems a little seedy, but it seemed to be just another watering hole for the locals. We gloriously paraded in there with our pink boas and zebra striped masks and demanded a shot. The owner decided she wanted part in this. While we were trying to think of something we all could take-Madamn took over in a Molly Brown "don't worry girlies, i got this one" manner and declared it would be a Sweet Tart.
We came, we shot, we left. Onto terrorizing the streets and other businesses in "downtown Port A"...
What a gem! I've been visiting the island my whole life and never noticed this lil place until our most recent visit. We had a very large group and took up most the available tables. The waitress initially seemed less than thrilled, but warmed up after realizing we were easy to please (just keep the cold beers coming). The burgers were superb. HUGE, fresh, and juicy.... no complaints from us! Great pizzas too.
If you're looking for a low-key meal away from the hoards of tourists, check out Wild Horse.
Wild Horse has good burgers, but the fries on my visit were AWFUL! They were skin on so they definately weren't freezer to fryer but they were hard, overcooked and dried out. Service was fine. This place is a bar that serves some food and only has a handful of tables, it was fine for lunch but gets really smokey at night. Big flatscreen TVs over the bar, probably a good place to catch a game. Decor was nice enough for a coast bar. There is a pool table in the main room and some slot machines or 8 liners towards the back, not sure how legal that is...
Review Source:Probably the best burgers in Port A. A simple menu with six or so burger options allows the cook to focus on preparing these properly. Â It is a nice bar atmosphere, where you can still scoop peanuts out of a bushel - much on them while watching sports, playing pool or darts, or just chatting. Â Fries are good, if a tad greasy and plentiful. Â
The scene is a typical Port A bar though - smoky and somewhat dark. Â But holds potential.
