On way to northeast New Mexico, we stopped in Carrizozo for lunch at Willie's Place. Â My smothered burrito was very good. Â The green chile sauce was also mixed inside with the ground beef. Â My wife's tacos were not quite as good as my dish but the burrito was definitely good enough to merit a 4*. Â The service was good and their salsa was good.
Review Source:Very, very good New Mexican style food. I had a combo of relleno, taco and cheese enchiladas. I enjoyed it and would have licked the plate if not with friends who grown upon such behavior. Also, the waitress and the cook (two women doing everything in this place) were friendly and fun to chat with. The only drawback is that Yelps directions steered us wrong but we happened upon it by accident.
Review Source:Stopped here on the way between 3 Rivers Petroglyphs and Valley of Fires. I had a burrito then and it was very tasty. I went back a few weeks ago and had a green chile cheeseburger. It was also very tasty. This place doesn't look like much but the food is good, it's a reasonable price and it's one of few places in the area that isn't either icky or downright pretentious.
