The food is fine, but I don't think that the price is very fitting for the quality of food. Â I've been here a few times and each time I am disappointed by the food and, more often than not, by the service. Â This restaurant has good hours as well as some pretty good choices of alcohol, but overall not worth the time or money.
Review Source:Our family likes Willie's. Â First, it's a good addition to the Atchison downtown core. Â It's nice to have some life downtown after 5:00 p.m. Willie's has good hours for diners like us who prefer (or need) to eat a little later in the evening.
The menu has enough variety to please most tastes in our family, from grandchildren to this ol' grandpa. Â There's a full offering of appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches and sides, along with a few good entrees.
The beer selection is ample but not extensive. However, Atchison is a Bud Light kind of town, so you stock what folks order most. Â There's usually a wheat or pale ale on tap that I enjoy.
The prices are very reasonable. Â The service is always prompt and friendly.
My only two knocks are minor, and would never keep me away, but I'll offer them anyway. Â Sports bars have never made sense to me - visual overload with no sound. Â I like to watch sports, but I like to hear the commentary, too. Â In a sports bar, I can watch a dozen sporting events simultaneously, but I can't listen to a single one. Â Where bars and TV sports are concerned, I prefer the old style neighborhood bar format where they've got the game on that most people came in to watch. Â Then, I wish they'd replace the stools at the high tables with stools with backs. Â My six decades-old back just needs a little support during dinner. Â We've actually had to leave when the wait for a booth was going to be too long. Â Oh, one other thing . . . that K-State fetish.
Other than a couple of personal kicks, we like Willie's and hope it stays in Atchison a long time. Â Rock Chalk!
Not many choices in this town.
I stopped by here for dinner on a Monday evening. Â The place was fairly empty. Â The restaurant area did appear clean and the waitress was friendly although a bit spacey. Â When I asked for a recommendation, she just started reading me the menu E.G. We have burgers and steak and shrimp etc.
I had the smoked pork chop. Â The meat tasted fine but seemed "pre-packaged" that is like it was taken from the vacuum pack and zapped. Â Pasta salad was mediocre. Texas Toast was just toasted buttered Wonder bread.
I think it stays in business do to the lack of competition in the area.
Food is pretty good and the beer was cold. Service was good. Appreciate the offering of dark beers. Need to cut back on the ceiling fan speeds for cooler weather. It would also help to put in something to absorb some of the sound. In terms of noise, it is only marginally better than the echo chamber at Mueller's.
Review Source:On my scale of B's (Beer, Burgers & Bike) Â I give it a 2.5. Â They have a great eclectic beer selection, and the burger was good. Â Parking can be a bit tricky if on the bike, and outdoor seating is much more limited than some other choices in atchison.
Overall a very nice place to eat in town, definitly on the reccommend list, especially if you want a sports bar feel, with much better service than Muellers.
The atmosphere is great. You can see a tv from every seat in the house which was great! The french dip I had was average at best, but the sweet potato fries were amazing! The service wasn't great...my drink was empty before I received my food and didn't get refilled until I received my check. It looked like the patio could be a good time, but it was too cold to check it out.
Review Source:This is exactly what Atchison needs. A sports bar. I have always wanted a sports bar in Atchison other than Muelers. Before Willie's was here, it used to be a drugstore. In was shocked how it looks as if nothing had been there ever before.
There are TVs everywhere. I thinked I counted like 15. It took about 30 minutes to get a table but I didn't mind the wait. There was a couch and chairs with yet another TV to pass the time. I also saw a wii but really who would play wii while waiting for a table?
The service was decent. It could have been a little bit better. The food was good. They are known for there burgers. I had a chili cheese burger which was hands down the best in Atchison.
Down sides? It is mainly a K State atmosphere. Yuck. I soon overcame all of that purple and enjoyed a good meal.
