So we checked out this "new" place in town last night. Â The old establishment here was a real dump. Â They did a nice renovation and cleaned it up well. Â They obviously have some service issues that need to be worked out. I ordered a burger medium rare and it came out extra well done. Hey, no problem. Everyone makes mistakes right. Â The only problem was that our waitress vanished. Ten minutes went by and she was nowhere to be found. I finally approached the bartender to ask for assistance. Â The bartender was not interested in my problem at all and told me someone would be over in a minute to help. Â Nobody ever came by. We left cash on the table and just left. Hopefully they can get it together and not turn into the same old dump it used to be.
Review Source:Small place- maybe a dozen tables and as many bar stools.
Small menu - some sandwiches, salads, bar type appetizers.
I really like the soul of this place- unpretentious, come as you are. None of the dressed to the nines foolery we see in some places. Lots of good honest hard working folks of all ages going out for a burger and a beer in jeans and T-shirts.
For about 40 years, this location was open as the Fireplace Café, until Bill Wilson, its long time owner and a  local fixture for decades, passed away in 2010. Enter new ownership who named the reopened business "Wilson's Pub" in honor of the original owner. I think that was a pretty sweet touch.
We had a Turkey Flatbread served with exquisite waffle fries ($10.50) and an Arugula Salad with Chicken ($13). I also had a Saison beer for $6.
The food was very good, but I had a nagging feeling that it was a teense over-priced. I also saw they have no website and no on-line menu. They do have a menu-less Facebook page. Maybe it's just me, but in 2013, I expect places to have an on-line menu somewhere,
The atmosphere, décor, and service were very good.
All in all, a nice addition to Canton.
Tuesday at 930 PM, warm welcome by the bartender Justin (?) and the team.
Had a beer and classic burger, well, right on! Burger as good as anyone in the area, the menu is simple but can see it will be a hit.
Nice job with the renovation, just really sharp, welcoming and classy. Thanks
Good Luck
Myself and about 10 friends stopped in to Wilson's last Friday night, after their long-awaited opening. They were scheduled to close at 11 p.m. and it was after 10 p.m. when we arrived. I had just finished performing at the town hall and we wanted a place to have a drink and chat.
The waitress didn't bat an eye at the large group and we found ourselves lucky enough to sit together on the patio. It's a small area, but there are couches and tables out there. It's very comfortable and a really nice place to sit with friends. Thanks to some other patrons, shifting around we were all able to sit together.
Our waitress was pleasant and entertaining, got us our drinks quickly and was extremely accommodating throughout the evening. No, they didn't boot us at 11:00. There were still quite a few patrons enjoying the pub at that time, so they stayed open until about midnight.
The Moscow Mule is definitely worth a try. It comes complete in a copper mug and is delicious on a warm summer evening. The second batch that my friend and I got was sweeter than the first. I'm not sure why there was an inconsistency with the drink flavor, but it didn't make the experience any less pleasant.
They did a really nice job renovating the former Fireplace Cafe.
I'd definitely visit Wilson's again!! And, next time I will try some of the food.
Hopefully those patio couches will be free again! Â That definitely made for a relaxing, fun evening.
