Earlier tonight my wife and I were lucky enough to get a baby-sitter and break away for dinner and a movie.  Our initial destination was Buffalo Wild Wings, but we went to The District Theater picked up our tickets and decided to stay in walking distance.  I should let you know that in the past month I have been slightly sleep deprived same as my wife with a newborn baby.  For some reason we have just been craving chicken wings.

    Moving On!

We entered through the side door and I didn't realize it wasn't the front door until I bumped into one of the waitresses.  I apologized for entering the wrong entrance and she was very friendly and said no problem.  I asked if we could be seated and she said "pick any seat you would like."  We were in a time crunch so we chose to sit at the bar.  We let her know before we sat down we need to make it to a movie and let her know the time constraints before ordering.  To which she replied "you have plenty of time enjoy!"

Side note, we bumped into a family friend and I bumped into an old friend while sitting there.  I never run into anyone anywhere so that was pretty cool.

The waiter came over and asked us if we wanted some waters.  As mentioned before we were on time constraint for a movie so we asked for a beer recommendation.  My wife went forward with the special $3, not sure if this is a regular thing but it seemed reasonable for a pint.  I went with the waiter's recommendation and it was $4.

Being in a hurry we let him know that we wanted to place our food order (20 wings) we knew we wanted traditional hot sauce but he recommended the lemon hotties anyway.  We agreed to try 4 lemon hotties and 16 traditional.

Yankees were playing the Angels on a large screen in front of the bar, the volume wasn't too loud so we enjoyed some nice conversation sipped on some beer and waited for the wings.

Our wings arrived with plenty of time to eat, the lemon hotties were definitely worth trying and the traditional was slightly hotter than we are used to but we had no problem finishing them.  I would say I like my wings more on the saucy side.  The taste was great on them but something tells me it might kick it up a notch if they sauced it up a bit more.

The two people I encountered here were accommodating and one of them made two recommendations for me that turned out well (beer & wing sauce).  I do have to give Wing Nuts some kudos for being a more personal environment.  We catch dinner and a movie most of the time we go on dates.  I would go here again and I would explore more of the menu.  I hope they have $3 beer specials regularly that is slightly more than a soda at most restaurants these days.

Thanks Wing Nutz for having us tonight and we may see you soon!

I've been here many times. The wings are good. I love that they are baked and still taste like real wings. They are more healthy (less calories), which helps if you regularly eat wings like I do. The Hog Wings are good too, but hit or miss. Sometimes they are tender and fall-off-the-bone, but other times they are tough. The boneless wings are legit. They recently expanded their beer selection, so now it's good, instead of sucktacular. I like the Buffalo Chips too, but sometimes they are soft (gross) and sometimes they are overdone (burnt tasting). Crispy is just right.

Some complaints: restaurant is not as clean as it could be, the service is inconsistent. Good at times, poor at others. It really depends on who you get. The nachos suck. The crowd can be a bit sketchy depending on the night, although it's never been a real problem. It would affect when I would bring kids though, e.g. not during a game/fight or too late.

I generally like the sauce selection, but there are several sauces that are simply combinations of other sauces, and those all start to taste same-y, e.g. Southern Hotties, Lemon Hotties, Southern Lemon Hotties. Seems like they use one base as the basis for many sauces. I'd like to see them branch out more. Jalepeno Honey BBQ is legit, so is Buffalo Hot and the Garlic one.

    I love this restaurant!

I've been going to Wing Nutz fairly regularly since they first opened. Back before the expansion, when the place was half the size it is now. It's pretty much the same as it's always been. Even their inconsistencies remain consistent.

The wings are baked, not fried. Nine times out of ten they'll be every bit as good as fried wings, but once in a while they'll be a little soft. No biggie. The sauces are out of this world. Listen, I like the national wing chain north of this place as much as the next guy, but their sauces tasted like they were poured from the bottles they sell up front, while Wing Nutz' sauces taste homemade. I don't know if they are or not, but they taste like they are.

And they have some really creative sauce flavors. Chili Garlic is my favorite. Raspberry Chipotle and Mango Pom Habanero are close behind. Most of the people I know like the Caroline Mustard sauce the best. They have a curry one (I forget the name) that is pretty awesome too. Once in a while they even have limited-time sauces written on their specials board. I remember trying a pumpkin one a while back. It's efforts like this that make the place feel special, and not like another nationwide factory restaurant. I especially love that they'll kick up the heat level on any sauce. My favorite flavors happen to be mild, but I like my food hot, so this is great for me!

The Buffalo Chips are a nice change of pace from the typical fries you get elsewhere. I get them spicy. They're actually pretty amazing. My wife likes them with bleu cheese crumbles on them.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area, and I enjoy going often. Their rewards program is very liberal. We get $10 off coupons in the mail all the time and use them up quickly.

Now onto the things that bug me...

I mentioned inconsistency earlier. I'd say the most inconsistent thing in the place is the amount of sauce you get on your wings. Sometimes they're drenched, while other times they're barely drizzled. I've even ordered two different flavors and had them come out with vastly different amounts of sauce on each. Odd.

There's a communication gap somewhere. If you order a SIDE of Buffalo Chips, you will get them as an appetizer... Period. I've asked "can I get those with my meal instead of as an appetizer?", got a "yes" response, and still had them come out early. I've even gone so far as to ask "if I order these, can you promise me they'll come out with my meal, rather than as an appetizer?", received a "yes", and got them early. There's nothing wrong with appetizers, and these would make fine appetizers. The problem is that, while I'm trying to order wings with a side of Buffalo Chips, my wife orders a wrap that comes with Buffalo Chips. She's already getting some. If they bring mine out 10 minutes early, what am I supposed to do... Eat my MEAL before my wife has been served? Share them, then eat half of hers? It's just awkward when they do that., and they do it 90% of the time, regardless of what you ask for. Hamburger joints and steak houses have been serving potatoes with people's meals for decades... I'm not sure why they can't figure out how, despite my begging. Honestly, while I still go to Wing Nutz a lot, this issue alone has probably cut my number of visits in half.

    A few other suggestions:

At a wing place, nobody should have to ask for wet naps. We just ate sauce-covered food with our hands.... We need them. Drop them off when you bring the check.

Basic condiments on the table would be nice. Salt, pepper and ketchup are all I need. Most restaurants do this... You can too.

My complaint section looks long, and I'm frustrated by those hiccups, but don't let that fool you. The food at Wing Nutz is tremendous. I have out-of-state friends that insist on going there every time they come to town, and I love going too. In fact, I think I'll go tomorrow, as I got hungry for some Chili Garlic wings just by writing this review.

Do NOT order the quesadilla as I did for my kid. He complained after a few bites and I insisted he eat it....  that's until I tried it. It tasted like a dirty skillet might... Disgusting

The service was terrible, the food was just ok, we won't be coming back.

Out of all the Wingnutz locations I've been to, the District location is definitely the most consistent when it comes to service & food quality, however they never show the UFC fights which is why I also like the Draper or Sandy location. Fun & friendly sports bar atmosphere with a nice selection of beers on tap & a few bottles. I usually tend to order their Oink & Cluck combo which consists of 5 wings & 2 hogwings (similar to rib tips) and buffalo chips with some veggies & dipping sauce. I love the spicy buffalo chips with bleu cheese crumbles on top!! I crave these on a monthly basis. I've sampled quite a few of their sauces, but my favorites are Chipotle Lime and the Chili Garlic. Try it out!

Love the chicken wraps!! Atmosphere is good, they just expanded so the're not trying to cram everyone into a small place. Tuesday nights is karaoke night and the kids even get to join. The service goes down on these nights tho so if your going for food, beer and singing get there before 8.

Chicken Wings the way they ought to be. Baked not fried! They were hot and tender. They also have a huge selection of dipping sauces. The service was fair and the food was great.

Great specialty sauces and awesome non-greasy wings. The Southern Lemon Hottie and Apricot Teriyaki are a must! Careful when you look at their "star" system. 2 stars is plenty hot, 3 is for the brave and any higher don't expect your taste buds to recover anytime soon!

I'm sitting here with my guts aflame, with the deepest feeling of gratitude.

I just dig this place. Today we had 3 or 4 types of wings, "buffalo chips", and some sort of pork wings. Add a salad, and some beer, and you have Dude Brunch.

    Tips:
They don't make it easy to find online. It's in South Jordan at the District. Check the website listed below (also hard to find).

Inferno is hot. Not Dave's Insanity hot, but hot.

My best time here is St. Patty's. Simple food, drunk on green beer.

    I like the spicy chips.

I think some peoples expectations are just a bit too high. This place (for what it's supposed to be) is a great place for Wings and Beer. I love the fact that they always have sports playing, and the variety of wing sauces keep it interesting. I can sit with people and visit without being drowned out, and the servers do a great job. I give it a thumbs up for being a decent place for wings.

I consider myself somewhat of a wing aficionado, having sampled wings pretty much all over and was eager to try Wing Nutz.

Called prior to coming in on a Saturday and asked what time they served until: "midnight" was the response, so I came in at 10:10 pm...in hindsight, maybe this was my error. Looking at the menu it says they serve to 1am.

Sat at the bar and waited to be acknowledged. Five or so minutes later, a server, "Miss A" * came up and asked what I wanted. I told her I'd like a beer and a menu. Looking at the taps, I asked what type of beer the Park City Steamer was. She replied "I dunno" and shrugged. Turning to her fellow server they brainstormed "you know, like a steamer" was the subsequent reply, followed by "like a brown ale" "uhh, a pale ale." Knowing that it was tough to be all of the styles mentioned simultaneously, I asked Tyler if the Wing Nutz Wyld was the organic ale made by Uinta. Affirmed, I ordered one.

Five or so minutes Amber wandered back and asked what I wanted. I ordered 15 Large Hot. Quickly the wings appeared, dropped off with a "here ya go" and no subsequent inquires (another beer would have been nice at this point).

The wings on the top of the basket were clearly sauceless, so after catching the attention of "A", who was engrossed in other conversations with her fellow employees, I pointed the nakedness of the wings out and asked for some sauce to cover them with. She wandered by a few times, even sweeping under my barstool before I asked for the sauce again. "Oh yeah" she said as she disappeared into the back.

8 wings into my order, the sauce appears next to my empty beer.

Feeling at this point that I was becoming a burden, I asked Tyler (the sole savior of my visit) for a check. Imagine my shock that I was charged $0.99 for the "extra sauce" to make the wings palatable? $19 total for 15 wings & 1 beer.

I hope this was an isolated lapse...maybe the "beer and wings" emblazoned on the door shouldn't have led me to believe that these were a specialty? And that staff might have some product knowledge?

Usually I give a place at least two chances, sometimes three, but this was pretty scary.

Ugh, we will never go to Wing Nutz again.  Two half orders of wings cost $17 - a tiny amount of food for that much money.  The wings themselves tasted charred and flavorless, even with the sauces we had (Jalapeno BBQ, Apricot Teriyaki, Carolina Mustard and Garlic Pepper.)  The only redeeming quality was their ranch dressing - it was delicious!  And it was the only way we were able to choke down the gross wings.  Never again!

I've been to Wing Nutz several times over the past year. I'm a big fan of the place, and it's on my list of local favorites.

I've tried a few different things on the menu, but I keep coming back to the boneless wings.

They have a large selection of wings and sauces. I typically try different sauces every time I visit. So far, I've liked all of them.

I've tried their wraps, but I wasn't too impressed. They were a little bland compared to the wings.

The beer menu is impressive. They typically have 5-10 beers on tap, and several bottled brands. Wings and beer is the perfect marriage.

I would give this place 5 stars, but they're a little slow getting the food out. If I owned the place I would make the kitchen bigger, and hire a few more cooks.

The location is great. It's right across the street from the movie theater, and there are several cool businesses within walking distance.

It would be nice if they had a full liquor license, but the Utah Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control is stingy with their licenses. It would be nice to have a real bar on the South West end of the valley, but I won't hold my breath.

Overall the food is great, the beer menu is complete, and the service is a little on the slow side. Highly recommended.

Wing Nutz serves up delicious wings & their other food is not bad either!  They have a decent selection of beers on tap so if you want to grab a drink it is a great place.  They always have sports going (they have several big TVs to choose from) or you can play an arcade style game if you would rather be in the game than just watch one.

I don't quite get the other review knocking their wings...I happen to know that the owners are the same guys that started Trolley Wing Company back in the day, and they cook their wings the exact same way...with no grease!!  They have a great selection of sauces, but many are worth skipping over...choose wisely & ask for sample tastes if you are not sure!

A quote from Wing Nutz menu:  "We... never deep fry or use grease in any of our cooking."  They say that like it's a good thing!  Well, it's not.  Baked chicken wings are always inferior to fried wings, and Wing Nutz is no exception.  Without the fryer, it is impossible to achieve the wonderful crispness and subtle crunch that makes true chicken wings so decadent.  And the sauces?  Mango Pom Chipotle and Apricot Teriyaki?  I just don't understand it.  I always stick with the traditional buffalo wing sauce.  If you want any spice at all, order the "purgatory" buffalo sauce "if you dare", as the menu warns.  Sure, I'll take the dare, if that's the only way to get some real flavor.
Wing Nutz's oven-baked "buffalo chips", which are ruffled potato slices, are equally substandard.  All the chips in my serving were burnt around the edges, leaving that oh-so annoying charcoal flavor in my mouth for the rest of the afternoon.  Also, there was no salt, pepper, or condiments of any kind on any of the tables (do they expect me to choke down the buffalo chips plain?).
On another visit I tried the "Guiltless Chicken Tenders", again baked and not fried.  Ugh.
On a positive note, there were lots of big screen TVs, rock music on the stereo, plenty of beer, some sports video games, and a few sandwiches on the menu that looked edible.  So it might be a fun place to drink some brew and watch some football.  But for buffalo wings done right, go to Squatters or Mo's Grill.
