This place is gross. Period! You want me to pee in a troff with ice in it? You want me to pay for a drink AFTER a cockroach ran in front of it?

    I'll pass.

Small cramped space so when its packed its a really tight squeeze and it smells like b.o. from the sweaty dudes. There's no ventilation so it gets hot in there, you can try to escape to the back patio but not much relief there. One plus is I caught a small burlesque show there which was cute and fun. But they need to to update their register its a bit more complicated using a credit card here.

So i like this place but its whatever
First thing I would complain about would be the drinks they are good but there expensive and they come in little tiny cups, I got a jack and coke it cost 9$ (or more I don't really remember) and I was like wth when I got it.
Second there music is a hit and miss kinda of thing one minute its 70s the next its 90s I am just like make up your mind haha but like i said hit and miss
The bartenders were nice though, when I went up to the bar it took a while because there was only 2 of them working, so I didn't mind, there is only so much 2 people  can do (trust me I am cash register and if it gets busy you only have to hands)
Every time I go to downtown riverside this is the usually place I go to and the menagerie that I go too only because the vibes are cool and there nice I haven't had a bad experience yet and hope I never do.

It was a Tuesday night that a friend and I stumbled upon this dive bar, it was after we had taco Tuesday at Tios Tacos on Mission. Lake Alice was not cracking lol, so we walked over too see where the bass was coming from. Immediately we saw a rainbow flag and stopped, but then we noticed that it was another spot next door. As soon as you walk in, its very dim, bunch of hipsters, dudes with long hair and a few weirdos. We walked to the back porch area and on the way there we saw some face painting going on like it was cool, and you walk down a hall way past the awkwardly open restrooms all the way to the back, there are a few cocktail tables and some dudes mixing away on their launch pad mixers, which was pretty dope and entertaining. Then you see some hipster with long hair painting a masterpiece in a random corner. So we drank our beer (which is cheaper then most bars on the same street) and kicked back looking at all the weird people and the DJs going at in on the little buttons of their launch pad.

Overall, I would go again just  because it was so weird and the music was down. Don't take a date tho, unless you want to.

    Average bar with average prices.

If you pay with a credit card, they add $2 to your tab. Minimum purchase of $10.

Draft beer selection is below average. They have hard alcohol now (which is different from a few years ago).

Had a pretty good band playing... and that's about it. The area the band was playing in was cramped, and our bartender was horrible. Ordered two double jack and cokes. I watched her 5 count each drink, a single shot, then put a lime in my jack and coke. I thought about saying something but decided it wasn't worth it, I just won't be coming back.

    Your standard dive.

What I'd get here: All drinks are on the cheaper side compared to other downtown places.
Who I'd take here: A date who doesn't want to dance. Buddies for drinking.
Comment: You meet some interesting characters here: commie tattoo bartender, an old man dressed in a full suit with a pocket watch, some guy who's clearly a cop propositioning me for certain substances. The list goes on. Probably why MTV did a casting call for Real World here one time.

    Music and Entertainment Quality: 5
On weekday drinking nights in Riverside, there's a DJ. Unfortunately, this is the dive-y drink-y crowd that won't dance; the floor will be empty.
A good comparison would be Lake Alice, except here you don't get charged cover, the drinks are cheaper and the pool is cheaper. There also a resident shark here who I've seen enough to recognize but don't actually know his name.
+1 no cover charge. +1 cheapest pool in the area.

    Drink Quality and Service: 2
This place is your standard dive but they have a few more beers on tap. However, this place doesn't accept Amex and has a minimum charge for credit.
    -1 restrictive credit card policy.

    Location, Cleanliness and Ambiance: 2
This place is a dive, so it's easy to understand why the bathrooms need help, but I'm still taking points off for that. I'm curious as to why there's a 'contaminated' sticker on the mirror in the bathroom, but worried about what the answer is. The wood floor is original 20th century from when this building was first constructed, which makes for both interesting trivia and a dive-y atmosphere.
    -1 dive.

How I rate: I have 3 categories, and each category starts at 3 points. For each item where I am impressed, they get 1 point; disappointed, lose one point.

    Overall rating: round(average(ratings)) = round(3) = 3

for a while now, worthingtons has been my go to bar. they have great prices on pitchers and always a new, exciting drink special. just the other day i was sitting with a friend, enjoying a beer when the extremely pretty russian bartender came up and asked us if we'd like to try a new shot she just invented.
if you're looking for a dive bar that is extremely mellow, it's the place to be mon-thurs while fri-sun, they have a dj and dance floor. it's always a fun and relaxing time regardless,

Overall, it was an alright bar. It wasn't a dive. We went on a Saturday evening and the place was packed. We were standing for about 15min before a couch opened up. The wait at the bar wasn't too bad. Our drinks were served in plastic cups - long island iced tea and apple whiskey shots. The music selection was great oldies from the 70's and such. The overall clientele were late twenties and up, and my roommates and i are all 21, so it was a little awkward being the "youngsters." Best part: no cover charge. :)

A comfy dive bar with the requisite dirty bathrooms and cheap beer. A good time was had by all, but that's because were awesome like that. I was invited here but wouldn't seek it out for myself again.

    This place is kinda cute.
I came only cuz my friends were performing in a burlesque show.

They have an outdoor area for smoking and just chillin.

I tried the pizza there and it was good i give em that.

There's a small place where you'll find a stage and there were some huge couches... It was kinda dark though.

From Michael G's review the men's bathroom is raunchy but the women's wasn't so bad. It was alright.

Alright, alright, Im kind of on Zicam and Sudaf nondrowsy so I am on Yelp instead of getting rest.  Anyways, Worthingtons made a turn around, great job the new set up is way better.  That is all for now.

Went to this place this last Saturday (January 15) with some friends who lived in the area. Not sure if I'll be coming back.

It wasn't TOO bad. I think the beers were a tad overpriced (considering the plastic cups), but I can put up with that. And the bartenders were friendly and attentive.

However, that only goes so far for me. For one, the bathrooms were a joke, and I've seen my fair share of bad dive-bar bathrooms. The men's bathroom door didn't even close. On top of that, there was a security guard with little-man syndrome who, after a verbal confrontation (not physical), jumped a customer from behind as he was walking away and had him thrown out. We talked to a few people, and the general consensus was the guy simply was drunk and talking a little shit... And apparently that was enough to justify grabbing him from behind, getting him in a wannabe MMA choke hold, and throwing him to the ground. If it were my bar, the guard would have been fired.

I didn't have a bad time during my visit here, but I attribute that more to my friends being there than the bar itself. It's not a bad place, but it just rubbed me the wrong way. I don't see myself voluntarily returning anytime soon.

Overall Worthington's is a pretty cool place.  I would have rated it a little higher but we unfortunatly ran in to a real douche bag while we were there.  I guess you gotta love loud mouth, obnoxious USC fans...  Well, maybe you don't.  The bar is very basic and a cool little dive bar.  I think they serve food, but I didn't see any when we were there.  I would go back again, just would hope we don't run in to the same loud mouth.

one of the coolest places in downtown riverside to hangout and have fun. Lenny will always be more than happy to fix your drink with a smile. Good for ppl who like smoke cause they have a back patio where ppl can smoke.
    Look out for weekly specials!!!

worthington's, it seems i've misjudged you.

i've been here on more than one occasion, usually waiting for mario's to open.  or when mario's isn't open at all.  you've been my back-up date.  the ok guy that i would never have a relationship with, but whose number i keep in my phone in case i need a companion.

but last night, i saw you  in a different light.

when all the other bars were charging a cover (yes. last night you had to PAY to hang out in riverside), you were not.  your door was open.  and the drinks were great.  there were even special halloween shots.  with cherries,

and the bartenders were looking hot.  which they always have, but especially so last night.

the only drawback is the outrageous fee you charge on credit cards.   other than that...we're good.  i'll just have to remember to bring cash.

I can't think of too many nice things to say about this bar, honestly.

the drinks and beers are way over priced compared to the other bars on university, the place has no air conditioning (so dont even bother going in the summer, unless you like to sweat while you drink), the staff has always been rude and unhelpful to me, the minimum on debit/credit cards is like $15 bucks, the beer on tap has never been cold enough, and the patio is filled with creepers that bum cigarettes.

the only reason i ever come to this bar is to use their bathroom when i dont want to wait at menagerie next door, or to visit the awesome DJ's they have on thursday nights that are not nearly appreciated as much as they should be.

if you want a good riverside dive bar, go to sire instead.

What a CRAPPY-ASS bar. I've been here a few times with friends and it always takes at least 15 minutes to order, then an additional 10 to finally get the drink! WTF! I usually only order a beer, so I'm not really understanding the hold-up? Not to mention a beer is $8. Really? In this crap-hole?!

My husband has a sentimental attachment to this place as his first legal adult beverage was purchased and consumed here.

It's a low key joint, and Eileen C. and I have spent many a night chatting it up here with our friends over a pitcher. It's mostly locals so expect that special brand of peeps that only the 951-former-909 can produce.

They only sold beer last I checked and a terrible screwdriver, but I've heard they've gotten a better liquor license and have a full bar. I have yet to verify that though.

Quarter operated pool tables, a decent DJ on Friday nights (he brings the old school 80-90s hits), and an outdoor patio.

It's a hot mess, but a great place to spend a low key night.

What is wrong with Riverside? How can a town with a UC campus be so unsuccessful in establishing a decent watering hole for like-minded hipsters, indie geeks, and nonstandard weirdies?

One night at Worthington's, my friend and I drank beers while a wide variety of oddballs congealed into two groups: those who dress to appear down on their luck, and those who really are down on their luck.

Another night we're at Worthington's and it's all Radiohead and Decemberists and a few stragglers from the gay bar one door down. Okay, fine, but...

On another night, why is the barroom dominated by identical bros with identical athletic-themed baseball caps and identical white t shirts and white wife beaters and bicep tattoos? Why are Kid Rock and Metallica chasing all the collegiate cooler-than-thou's away?

In all honesty, Worthington's could be a coolish dive bar if it could make up its mind about which clientele it wants to attract. The beer selection is passable, the lighting is dim and prurient enough to encourage good-bad behavior, and the men's bathroom stench is just short of unbearable.... I suggest Worthington's pick a theme and stick to it.

I stopped by here after a wedding reception last night. My friends and I were looking for a bar to settle in outside of the Mission Inn Hotel. After passing on several places that had $6 cover, we went into Worthington's. They have beer & wine license so hard liquor was out of the question. For a few cheap drinks, it was okay and its saving grace was that they didn't charge a cover.

I like the darkness of the place.  The arcade game is a nice touch.  The restroom needs a grenade.  It's a beer and wine place so it'll take some time to get rocked in here, but when it happens there's plenty of places to sit or lean.  The smoking patio is a treat if you're a smoker, an albatross if you're not.

The bartenders are decent for that area of Riverside, but they're not really bartenders per se, since they don't really mix anything--well, unless you get a black & tan.

I definitely don't mind stopping in for a little pre-gaming, but I definitely would not spend more than 30 minutes in this place.  Your life may flash before your eyes.  Don't get scurred.

Stay away. I'd rather have a pubes in my drink at Lake Alice across the street then set foot in this place again. They don't even have a full liquor license! You would think that they might put a bit more focus on the beer selection since that is all they are allowed to serve. But alas NOOOO. Their beer selection sucks sweaty swamp ass. You can't call the help bartenders because it's not a proper bar and they don't make drinks...So I'll call them "beertenders". Yeah the "beertenders" were complete ass-hats to boot. So if you want to go to a toilet of a beer-only bar and hang out with a bunch of drunken "dude-bros" and listen to shitty music then this might be the jam for you. I'd rather go to Menagerie, the gay bar next door and get a shot of whiskey with my beer. Even if I have to put up with one of the "bros" from Worthingtons calling me a "faggot" at the end of the night. I should have told him he was just jealous that I didn't want to fuck him. Meh. The end. :)

Great place to drink with an excellent price on pitchers.

Only thing is they need to get the door knob fixed in the mens restroom.

Probably one of the most boring places I've ever step foot in!!! This place calls itself a tavern but they only have like 5 beers on tap and no hard liquor!!! I went with some friends on a Thursday night because supposedly that's when its poppin!!! This place got crowded at around 11 which was cool because I was wasted by that time!!! The DJ was crappy, playing the same songs over and over (Gorillaz, Daft Punk, Justice). They do have two pool tables but they were taken all night long by some bros!!! The patio area was probably the best part of the tavern because I was able to smoke and drink at the same time!!! I give this two stars because they have a good pumpkin ale on tap!!!

I'll admit, I came into this place with a snooty attitude. First off, it's in Riverside and second...actually, that's the end of the list.

The DJ spins some really good music (on a Friday night around 11pm) and after a few beers, everyone is in a dancing mood on the makeshift dancefloor between the entryway door and Big Buck Hunter rifles. Lots of new wave 80's, along Justice, Le Tigre and Daft Punk.

There were several groups of trainwrecks in and out through the night, but in this environment, no one really cares.

Cool Tavern!  Great service, and cute bartenders.  A beer and wine bar with a perfect selection of beers.  Stone pale ale, Fat Tire, Stella, Sierra, Becks, Smithwicks, etc...  They have pizzas, but I did not try one.  I like the atmosphere, just a long bar and a couple pool tables behind.  There is a couple 'private' areas.  Not sure what they are for, maybe first come???  Also, decent music on the juke box.   I will definitely go back when in the area.   I hear they sometimes have a DJ at night and it gets a large crowd, (I was there in the afternoon)
PS area code is 951, not 909

It really depends who is there if it's fun or not. They have good pitcher prices sometimes, but their mixed drinks are super expensive & not so great anyways. They really do have some good beers on tap there though. Also, it sometimes gets so packed you have to wait forever to get you drink and it they will skip over you without even noticing & it's annoying. So yeah, it's okay for drinks sometimes, but only on certain nites & don't even think about getting cocktails.
