This is the come to place to get great food and great service. The owner, Jayden Morrison, cares about every person that walks through his door. They have wonderful salads for the health conscience, burgers, wraps, and kid-friendly foods. I am a fan of great tacos. Today, I had the most amazing fish taco and chicken taco for only $2 each. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Review Source:Had a great time tonight at the Wrec Room. Friendly owner and folks at the bar were local and engaging. We are passing through Ojai (from San Diego) and the Wrec Room was recommended by quite a few people. Had the Gorgonzola Burger and the Pesto Chicken - both were excellent.
If you are in Ojai and looking for a fun time and good food = the Wrec Room.
Went to Ojai for a long weekend and wanted some pub grub. Â Wandered into The Wrec Room and didnt expect much but greasy appetizers and a decent drink. Â What we got was much more. Â The server approached us immediately and offered suggestions for drinks. Â Then we checked out the menu and decided on a shrimp quesadilla and onion rings. She said all of their ingredients were fresh so she needed to make sure they had received fresh shrimp that morning. Â After checking with the kitchen and confirming they didn't have fresh shrimp we chose a chicken quesadilla and onion rings. Â Both were terrific. Â Homemade salsa to accompany the quesadilla and homemade ranch to dip the onion rings into. Â I dreamed about those onion rings! Â Our server was the owners sister and a great ambassador for the restaurant. Â We tried to make it back before leaving town but didn't. Â Hope it's there with the same great food next time we visit!
Review Source:Guy-food with guy-service. Kids love the typical fast-food, high-calorie junk food, and the games. Â This mom not impressed. Â
Big disappointment, again, on our 3rd visit. Â The owner means well, and he's a nice guy, but I haven't had a decent meal yet. Â The other times there were larger groups arriving after sports events, so I cut some slack. Â But today it was just me and my kids. Â When we arrived the place was virtually empty, with only 1 table seated before us. Â Still, at 1 pm, it took 30 minutes to bring our order: sliders, hot dog, & salad and still, they got it wrong - missing one of the 3 items. The owner apologized, as well as the cook.
It would be nice if the menu provided more complete descriptions of items. Â I consider the salad I ordered small for the price, and the menu description was lacking detail. Â I ordered the salad that the owner reccomended as the 'most popular'. Â He mentioned it was spicy, he didn't say it came drenched in Tabasco sauce. Â I think that's a pretty important detail to convey to customers (but maybe it wouldn't occur to a Guy to mention it?). Â I couldn't eat the salad because of the Tabasco. Â Blecch!. Â
While we were there the place started filling up mostly with bar patrons. Â This seems to be the Wrec Room's niche - not the kids on the sports teams, but their beer-belly'd-aging-jock dads. Its guy-food with guy-service. Â The salads are on the menu obviously to appease the moms, but they're a pretty sorry excuse, in my opinion. Â Evidence: I was curious about ceasar salad and asked if the dressing was made in-house. Â The owner didn't seem to be very sure. Â That says it all, for me.
I had a burger and onion rings and I would not come back unless it was part of a plea bargain arrangement. Â The burger's bun was thick, doughy, and sandwich-style (not traditional bun) and it dwarfed the burger. Â It took 3 bites to even get to the meat. Â The burger acted as if it were in the witness protection program. Â The amount of onion rings on the plate was laughable. Â They must use onions that are on the endangered species list...I thought it was garnish rather than a side. Â I hope the other dishes are better but it will be up to you to find out. Â I'll go somewhere else.
Review Source:This is the perfect spot for everyone! Plenty of TVs for watching the game and arcade games to keep the little ones busy. There's a Wii console set up too! The food is great and the staff is friendly. The live music was a nice surprise! The Wrec Room stays open late and has already become my go-to place for good food, drinks, watching the game, or just catching up with friends. This is just what Ojai needed! The perfect spot!
Review Source:It's a sports bar and restaurant that is family friendly. They serve beer and wine. There's a Wii, two arcade games, a train set, and a chalkboard to keep the kids entertained. There are several TV strategically placed so no matter where you are sitting you can catch a glimpse of one of the football games simultaneously playing. Going along with the theme, the bathrooms are labeled men's and ladies' locker room, which I thought was cool. The service was good, and the staff was friendly.
From what I'm saying it's sounding like a five star review. The only bad yet important thing was the food. It has only been opened a few weeks, and it is obvious the staff is still learning. The BBQ chicken wings were average and nothing special. The pulled pork sandwich was not worth the price especially because I was not satisfied with bread to pork ratio. It was dry and needed more BBQ sauce, which can be requested. I heard the Caesar salad was good but definitely an odd go to choice for a sports bar. The fries were thin and perfectly seasoned. It was my favorite item on the menu.
The kid's menu included macaroni and cheese, which the kids didn't like but the adults enjoyed. It came in a ramekin and looked delicious. It resembled a baked pasta with cheddar on top and a white cheese sauce. The kids would have appreciated it more if it was orange and not white with elbow macaroni instead of penne. It is what they are used to and was tad too sophisticated for their palettes.
Aside from the food, I still think it's a good place to have a beer and watch a game with some friends.
