We made reservations based on reviews here on Yelp - especially concerning the Paella.  We had Ceasar Salad and the Potato wedges for appetizers and both were well made and tasty; although there wasn't egg in the salad. We had Hanger Steak and the Shrimp/Chicken paella.  Both were delicious!  We had cheesecake and rum--soaked rum sponge cake that were both tasty and well presented.  It was a very lovely evening!

Awesome food and completely reasonable pricing!  A different type of dining experience only capable of being delivered by this type of gourmet Mom n' Pop type restaurant.

If your heading for a night at the Tourney Stone Casino look 5 minutes to the Southwest on 365 for this place and an awesome dinner awaits you to start your night!

I decided to come to Zabroso after searching the area for Spanish food and this was closest to me. I've been lucky enough to eat at some VERY good Spanish/tapas restaurants as well as authentic Puerto Rican food and the reviews seemed to be very enthusiastic about the quality of the food. Honestly, it was all pretty middle of the road. It wasn't bad at all but it wasn't particularly great either. Things were either under seasoned or tasted like they came out of a box. Cheese and meat plate was very skimpy on portion size and not the best chorizo, Serrano or manchego I've had. Empanadas were pretty tasty but reminded me of the frozen ones made by Goya...but I like those so it's cool. The ham croquettes had WAY too much cheese and nowhere near enough ham. They were kind of a congealed mess. The shrimp ajillo came in a VERY tasty broth but the shrimps were over cooked and rubbery.  The sausage was the tastiest dish but how hard is it to mess up grilled sausage? It was also swimming in a very ketchup heavy sauce. Literally there was a small pool of ketchup in the middle of the plate along with the rest of the sauce. Wtf is that all about?! My partner got the pulled pork mofongo which was good but not great. Then again we were spoiled by the mofongo in puerto rico. Pernil confitado featured very nicely cooked pork, crispy platanos, decent spanish rice but had points taken away for being slathered in a "barbecue" sauce that was also very ketchup heavy and pretty unnecessary. So yeah. Food is decent but not great and not worth the cost. I didn't get dessert because nothing really struck me as worth paying any more money for. The ambience is pretty cool as it feels like you're eating at someone's house. It's very warm and inviting I think. The service was very quick but at times befuddling. I had a plate taken away by the server right after he asked me if I was finished without giving me time to answer. I was not, by the way. He was nice and attentive, but it just seemed like he was trying to hurry us out the door. Anyways, it's a decent place to grab a drink and maybe a couple of small plates but I wouldn't recommend a whole meal here. I don't think it's worth the money. Also, please take my negativity with a grain of salt as I have been spoiled with very good and authentic tapas, Spanish and Puerto Rican cuisine. If you're new to this food then this is a GREAT place for you to get your feet wet and a very nice but costly place to go on a first date.

We went there because of the good reviews that it got.  We were a bit disappointed.  We had a bottle of Tzomin Etxaniz to start - that was the highlight of the meal really.  The wine was crisp, dry and fruity.  We had the croquettes and roasted/grilled vegetables and some garlic chicken appetizer to start.  They were fine.  Then we shared the Chorizo, clam, shrimp and chicken paella.  It was good but seriously - it was rice with some protein in it - everybody seemed to have hailed about it but I did not find it to be special.  We then had the flan and the tres leche cake for dessert.  I thought the dessert was good but we felt let down after the owner looking dude bragged so much about the pastry chef (work of art blah blah blah).  Don't get me wrong - the dessert was good but it was not fabulous as he stated.

The bill was over $140 - which is well within the normal range for us on a night out.  We did not think it was worth the money - as we could have gotten much better quality food near Syracuse for $140.  My husband and I both had some stomach "issues" 4-5 hours after the dinner (so it was the dinner!).  So our money bought us some discomfort as well.   I am still giving this restaurant 3 stars because I liked the atmosphere and our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive.

Great restaurant with consistently good food, selection and flavor. The location is also great for dining al fresco (outdoor) in the summer with a nice glass of wine (good selection). We've been here at least four or five times and had a great meal of tapas (small plates) at each. The yucca fries are delicious as are the patatas bravas! So is the tortilla Espanola. The flatbread was ok, could have done without. The scallops were really good as well! Man, it's hard to go wrong!

Definitely on our list of places we go at least monthly and great to bring friends too! Just stay away from the cocktails because they were not made well and I have never had a mojito with just ONE piece of mint floating about--which they added after I asked why there wasn't mint in it. On top of that, they used simple syrup instead of sugar and there was barely any lime and it was definitely not muddled. This is how you make a mojito so the flavors mix in. Stick to a vodka soda or simple unfancy cocktails and you'll fare better. Our server was super nice and replaced it for me with a smile. I hope I get him again next time I'm there!

A lot better than a bunch of tapas places in the NYC that I've been to in terms of quality and authenticity.

Recently stopped over to check out Zabroso's new location. I liked the old location (walking distance from my house), but the present location in the former Charolette's is a better fit for Zabroso.

At any rate, the food was fantastic. My only hesitation to give them a "five" was that the cheese and meat plate appetizer was a skimpy portion for the price.

Had a fantastic meal at Zabroso the other night. The asparagus with Serrano ham and truffle oil was absolutely delicious and the paella rivaled some of the best I've had in Spain. The chef clearly knows what he is doing. I found the historical location and ambiance charming. I will definitely be back.

zabroso made me fall inexplicably and hopelessly in love with paella!

i mean i've been searching endlessly for one as good or even half as good here in the bay... and yet still i am scared that it will never measure. i feel like a jaded heart broken teenager that thinks her first love is her last...

alas.. the review of zabroso. AMAZING! pretty cool ambiance for that of central new york. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME... did i say AWESOME? paella. great service and they have/had this one wine KUHL where i can't FIND ANYWHERE!@?!?!! we paired the kuhl chardonnay with our seafood paella and let me tell you it really only takes these two to tango.

i hope you too can see with this unfairly short review that indeed zabroso is a FIVE star restaurant!

Second time at Zabroso's and both experiences have been TOP NOTCH from a food perspective.  Both visits were on Thursdays which is Topas night.  If you love Spanish / Latino foods you are in for a small dish treat.  The selection of cold and hot Topas dishes is extensive with a Spanish wine list to match.  While I would give the atmosphere a 5 the service and food are a solid 9-10.

My recommendation is go experiment with both new wines and foods you would not normally have.   Most of all ENJOY!

"A hidden Gem in Oneida, NY aka The Mansion House"

After enjoying the food and service at a Christmas Party, we decided to try Zabroso's for their regular menu and what a great treat. We tried the Spanish Chorizo, Shrimp al Ajillo, Papas Bravas for two Tapas Sampler and it came with Spanish sausage, shrimp and some great potatoes, everything was spicy but not to hot to enjoy. I enjoyed their Caribbean Spiced Lamb Chops - cooked to perfection with my favorite carrots and green beans over some delectable tasting potatoes. My spouse had their Grilled Hawaiian Blue King Prawns over Linguini, which was also excellent. Portion sizes are nice, based on the Tapas and meal we took home food.

Had room of course for Dessert which was a trio special - Find out if they have their Rice pudding, not your typical version but yum, yum. They also offer a fantastic TEA selection. I normally have coffee but decided to have a hot cup of tea and I am glad I did.

Erica provided great service, we mentioned to her that we enjoyed the food from the Christmas party and decided to try their regular menu. Ruben the owner/Chef came out to say hello and welcome us back - thanking us for coming again.  This to me is a nice touch from an owner.
The Mansion is a nifty place and the restaurant is well decorated. Prices are within range. Worth driving down  Sherrill Road but turn off at Skinner Road.
Heads up - Call ahead for reservations and to verify they are open, Dress is business casual.

I will say up front that I am a former Oneida Ltd employee so the atmosphere of the Oneida Community Mansion House aka "The Mansh" does not bother me.    It's a historic place and if you take the time to read the history of the place, you'll be glad you visited here.

Zabrso was really good - really nice Rioja off the by the glass list followed by a tapas sample and the Paella Valencia.    The dining room decor is nice and the service excellent.      It's expensive by Oneida standards but on par with any good restaurant in Syracuse and right now, the only place you can get Paella in the greater Syracuse area.

Definitely worth a vist to Kenwood!

what a dichotomy - the chef clearly knows what he's doing in the kitchen...  food is lovingly prepared, artfully seasoned, and overall delicious.  i wholeheartedly agree with dave here - the chorizo is outstanding, as are the roasted potatoes on the tapas platter.  my salad with goat cheese, roasted hazelnuts and pears was delicious as well.  the food, that is, is quite good.
where the restaurant goes off the rails, in a big way, is the atmosphere.  this is not inexpensive dining (about $50+/person), which is fine, but the dining room is horrible.  yes, the building from the outside is gorgeous.  but step inside and you're in a run-down former-something that's now been converted somewhat to apartments, complete with ripped carpeting, dingy walls and bad lighting.  step into the dining room and... it's the same, along with some ceiling fans circa 1979, chairs and tables that look like they came out of a bad sheraton meeting room.  hideous, honestly.
sooo... if you can put on blinders while you eat you'll do fine.  but for us it was not worth a return visit.
