I've been in college here for four years and this place has always been one of my favorite places to drink. I love the food and their beer is drinkable. I've never had any problems until tonight. My texas I'd was stolen with my wallet about a week ago so all I have is my old expired Texas id. I understand bartenders don't have to serve anyone they don't want to but the bartender there tonight yelled at me repeatedly that she wasn't going to serve me. She interrupted every word I said very rudely and made a scene out it. As I was leaving, I heard her making fun of me to another patron at the bar. I've been in the bar industry for 5 years working at very well respected bars in Dallas so I know how to reject a customer without leaving a sour taste in their mouth. Zach's may be a dive but they always had kind bartenders and that kept me coming back until now. Never again. She deserves the low tips she gets.
Review Source:Oh Zach's... I remember when you were at the old location 10 years ago when I was still at Sam. Â I thought you were cheap and delicous. Â My friend and I came back here a few weeks ago just to take some pictures around the campus and just for nostalgic reasons, we decided to lunch here. Â We got all sorts of weird stares when we came in...but probably because we were dressed up and didn't look like a college kid on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Â We got an order of fried pickles and I got a hamburger while my friend got the California burger. Â Fried pickles were greasy but good. Â Our burger tasted overdone, dry with no flavor. Â I was sadly disappointed. Â The new location has more of a bar/warehouse feel but I think I prefer the older location where they actually have A/C blowing instead of humidity.
Review Source:I got the Juicy Lucy for lunch today and was so pleasantly surprised! My other coworkers frequent here, and for good reason too!
My burger was cut in half, and inserted into the center was perfectly melted cheddar cheese and bacon chunks. Talk about delicious! The bread was a bit soft and could maybe use a bit more toasting, but the yummy burger certainly makes up for its deficiencies. The fries were good, but not phenomenal.
This may be my new, default forgot-to-bring-lunch place.
