Wow place wasn't too busy but we got rude, slow service at the bar and outside from servers. Â Noticed others getting bad service and complaining too. Â Guess this place is only good if you are a boozy old local who drinks there every day, as most of their clientele seems to. Â Not recommended.
Review Source:Had one of the worst meals my family has had in a long time here last night. Â It was a combination of a terrible waitress and bad food. Â We had a variety of items that we think she didn't serve right away so most of our meals were room temperature. Â And "room temperature" is not a good thing when it comes to fish & chips, onion rings, and chili cheese fries! Â Two in our party ordered the taco salad and we sent them back because the shell was rancid!
All in all, it was a disaster. Â Avoid this place!
I would have ranked this place a solid 3 star locals dive bar with great food for a reasonable price. But after last nights dinner it goes down to two for the lack of consistency and the waitresses lousy behavior.
After waiting about 10 minutes for the waitress to take our order, we had to wait another 30 minutes for our food. One order of nachos and one order of fish and chips. It took longer because there was an average steady flow of customers, I presume. It was not what I would consider too busy. When we finally got our food the nachos, which we've had before, were half their size and cold, as were the fries. After waiting so long for our food and being ravenously hungry from fasting all day, I was pissed to say the least. I let the waitress know I was disappointed with the nachos and she got defensive. No solution or apology offered, just argument. I never complain to waitstaff, ever, but in this case I knew we were being overcharged for food we didn't get. Half of the toppings were just melted to the plate with no chips, and thats what she took away. She saw it with her own eyes, but is evidently stupid.
After her childish defiance, this will no longer be one of our local go-to's. They clearly can't keep up well with a more steady pace. I'd steer clear of Friday nights and that crappy waitress. She'd fit right in at the Sprint call center.
local watering hole with a reasonably priced and stiff cocktail. cold and bubbly beer. fish and chips, the fish is the best i've ever had. great batter etc. last time in however, the three of us felt that that while the fish was cooked perfectly. the batter was not the usuall crispness and was mushy batter under the crust. first time this has ever happened. always a 10 but a 8 this time. service is what you would expect at a busy bar. friendly and attentive enough. often slow on the greet and first drink order. no real turn offs. still on our list of local watering holes.
Review Source:I come here every time my mom and I take the car to Jiffy Lube (which usually ends up being every single time I come home), and have thus far had an okay experience with it. Today, however, we walked in and seated ourselves, and the waitress promptly informed us that they don't allow outside drinks and that my sister and I would have to dispose our Starbucks cups immediately. This was pretty jarring to me as I'm sort of a Starbucks fiend and have never ever ever been told this before at a restaurant before (and I have brought my Starbucks comfort cup with me to many restaurants). So I had to chug my iced coffee and hand over the cup, and it made me feel guilty and weird and it sucked. I understand not wanting people to bring in outside booze or whatever, but we were clearly there to eat, not get plastered.
Props for:
-Blue moon on tap
-Beers come in a great "jumbo" size
-There was a tubby guy with a white beard and a Santa hat sitting at the bar drinking away (I really wanted to get a photo but could not do so surreptitiously).
Cons:
I remember the food being okay to good in the past; HOWEVER, this time my mom and I got nachos and they came with OLIVES. who puts olives on nachos I cant even. Their salsa was a little gross and not spicy enough, but this isn't a mexican food restaurant so I wasn't expecting much in the first place.
Three stars for Santa and beer, lost stars for weird Starbucks hate, making me feel awkward and FUCKING OLIVES.
My boyfriend had a contract in Palm Springs for about 8 months so I was there every weekend. Â We found ourselves at this place pretty much every Sunday. Â They have decent breakfast at reasonable prices, and the fish and chips are some of the best I've had (and you can buy them by the piece). Â They also have all of the NFL games on. Â But the best part is, they have a Bloody Mary Bar. Â For only $4.25 they give you a large glass with only vodka in it and then on the secondary bar they have all of the necessary "Bloody Mary" things set up like clamato, V8, worcestershire, horseradish, blue cheese stuffed olives, pickles, pickled green beans...I mean everything! Â The beer is also very reasonable. Â The staff is friendly, but quite busy so be prepared to wait. Â All in all, it's a great little place and one of the few and only things I miss about being in the desert every weekend.
Review Source:After hanging out watching a bunch of guys beat the crap out of each other and drinking mucho Tecates (boxing at Fantasy Springs), a bunch of us headed out to the 19th Hole to do some karaoke! Â
T-Bone is a great master of ceremonies on a Friday night and it does get busy, so make sure you put your song request in early! Â The beer is always cold and they make a pretty good mixed drink. Â I don't think I've actually ever eaten here (unless it's one of those 'foggy memory' nights) so I can't comment on their food. Â I can tell you that this is not a place where you want to grab a water. Â Not only because it's kind of sacrilegious, but because it tastes like it came off the bar mat... Bleh! Â I'd gladly rather have another beer, preferably some Blue Moon on draft *sip, sigh, repeat*
Unfortunately if you drop in for a little Karaoke be prepared to be harrassed if you do not order right away. Â We stopped in and we there about 30 minutes waiting on the pool table and were told we could not sing until we bought a drink. Â My hubby said it was BS as we USED (as we will not go again) to go into the hole all the time to sing and play pool and have a drink but at that specific moment we were not ready to order. Â Even though the little 'server' girl was rude to us we (specifically him) were asked to leave because he said this was BS. Â Funny thing is after almost 3 years of visiting the hole on a regular basis for food, pool and drinks now there is a time limit to ordering when you walk in the door...I would like to see the signs for that new rule!!!
Review Source:Love this place! Â My family has a house down the street from here so I find myself in Palm Desert about once a month. Â Let's get this straight..... it is a locals, dive, sports bar. Â With that said...... every time I have gone everyone has been very friendly! Â The food is surprisingly good! Â During football season they have a "make your own bloody mary bar" on Sundays! Â My only complaint..... they need the bloody mary bar year round!
Review Source:$5 fish and chips...I mean how can you go wrong with that! Â A def locals bar and a bit of a dive, but harmless! Â Have been there twice and have nothing negative to say....Reasonable prices, quick service....cold beer..I mean really...do you need anything more? Â Just remember...it is a bar..bar food..bar flies...bar bar bar bar...NOTHING MORE.....expect little and you won't be disappointed!
Review Source:I'm a little torn with how to rate this place. Â On paper, it's almost 5 stars. Â Pitchers are $9 (!!!), served properly in chilled glasses, and the waitstaff was very friendly and helpful. Â Karaoke is no charge -- just turn in your requests, and they have a shit-ton of songs, well organized in notebooks either by artist or song title. Â It's divey for sure (a good thing), and we all thought the karaoke was pretty good (we were probably the worst performers - whatever). Â The problem was that it just wasn't that terribly fun. Â There are a TON of regulars , and it's not that they get preferential treatment in terms of their songs coming up, but you end up waiting a long time in between songs. Â Beyond that, depending on what's being sung, the vibe ranges from rockin' to funereal. Â The crowd's eclectic, yes, but super fun? Not exactly. Â It wasn't too crowded that Saturday -- maybe it was just an off night. Â I would recommend it as a solid sports bar -- if they're showing your game, go here over Beer Hunter.
Review Source:The 19th Hole has the best fish and chips I have ever had, and that is saying a lot because I love fish and chips. They somehow manage to make them crispy but melt in your mouth fresh at the same time. The center is never too oily. Mmm I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. I would have given it 5 stars if the inside of the restaurant was a little nicer and less bar-ish.
Review Source:Tucked away in a shopping center is this little watering hole that I have now become a fan of. While visiting the desert my friends and I came here. Nothing could be more pleasant that to walk in to a spot where there is bad karaoke (except for the johnny cash look-a-like) and scary looking biker dudes, girls that lacked fashion, drunk old ladies crooning like roosters and old men giving you the "i wanna F you look".. Yeah.. It's like a dive bar except it seems more like a sports bar. Any-hoot. I like it. Our drinks were very strong! Oh, and it's super cheap here too! 4 cocktails and it was only $18... Oh Yeah!!!
Review Source:A wedding party in search of karaoke -and 19th is one of the few places that regularly hosts it four times a week. I will say that this place tends to attract some of the worst karaoke performances I have ever seen, but I'm one of those pretentious "Duets" types when it comes to my karaoke.
Decent bar with a stiff pour and large areas to sprawl out with big groups. Not a bad find for an out of towner.
