Great little place in Allyn!
Visiting friends that recently moved here from SoCal. Â Although a 'small chain', I think they have 3 or 4, this was a really good Mexican restaurant in the PacNorWest. Â Not a lot of people when we went in, service was fast and polite and food was good. Â Served chips & salsa including a bowl of refried beans and a bowl of sauteed mushrooms...never had that before. Â Very nice decor, all bright colors. Â All the tables and chairs are painted differently.
Because of its convenient location about halfway between Shelton and Bremerton, I meet a friend here fairly often for lunch. It works well for us as we are both fans of Mexican food and the staff are kindly tolerant of our 2-hour lunches.
Coming from Texas, we have a certain expectation of what makes a good Mexican restaurant. Usually you can tell right away by the salsa they bring with the chips. If they can't make a decent salsa, you might as well vamoose. Their salsa is muy bien... fresh ingredients with plenty of kick and lots of fresh cilantro. They also serve a mushroom tapenade and refried beans with the chips, which makes for a nice variety and means you need a refill on your chip basket.
Like any restaurant, they have their strengths and weaknesses. Most of their entrée items are pretty good, but I'm not a big fan of the rice and beans. I usually order the Macho Burrito or the flautas. I'm actually a pretty big fan of their flautas.
