Just had dinner at 701 Taphouse. Â Our server, Michelle, was wonderful.
I had the almond encrusted grouper with citrus buerre blanc servedwith penne pasta. Â We have been visiting in this area for three weeks and this was the best meal I've had! Â If we ever come back to this area, 701 Taphouse will be on my "must return" list.
We went on a Saturday night around 7:30, the place was packed, but they were able to seat our party of 4 right away. Â Then we waited for a server..after 7 minutes I got a little impatient and had to get the attention of a server. She was not our server but would get her. The manager came over and apologized and gave us the first round of drinks on the house. Â That was very cool!
The menu had a good selection at reasonable prices ($8.99 - $14.99). Â I got the Lincoln Tunnel Sandwich which was piled high with tender roast beef and cheese. Â My husband got the Ahi Tuna appetizer which he enjoyed. He also got beer cheese soup - he liked that they put a few pieces of popcorn in the soup. Â Our friends also enjoyed their food. Â
Obviously that have a great selection of beers, but they also have a full liqueur bar and make a tasty sangria. Â We did not have desert, but we saw the desert tray go by and it looked scrumptious. Â Next time I am definitely trying desert.
Nice atmosphere - split into 5 sections; outdoor front patio, indoor low top, indoor high tops, back patio and the bar. Â Lots of TV. Â Good variety of music that wasn't too loud, but don't get me wrong - the place was still loud.
Bathroom - small, but clean
Service - slow this time, but friendly. Â
I would recommend trying 701 Taphouse
I just got back from the new 701 Taphouse and over all had a pleasant experience. I would have given them 5 stars if it weren't for a few small errors with our order, other wise things were pretty damned good.
My party of three arrived at the prime dinner time on a Friday evening, only to see that everyone else had apparently had the same idea, "Try the new place in Tarpon out." Â The option of seating was slim, but we were given a side by side place near the bar that suited us fairly well. Â
It took us a few minutes to order, due to the sheer volume of people, but when we did, our waiter, Dylan was great! He was quick and efficient and made sure that our order was taken and placed all at once. Â Our food didn't take too long to arrive.
Our starter was the onion straws, they were crisp and delicious, served with a sauce that had really great flavour, but a LOT of spice. Almost too much for me, but the husbeast loved it.
Our mains, here's where we had a bit of trouble. I ordered the big mouth burger; no raw onion and sweet potato fried. It arrived with the wrong fried and the raw onion. Â My husband ordered the Grouper sandwich, Fried, with fries. He got his baked. My mother ordered the Philly cheese steak with the broccoli and her's was absolutely perfect.
All in all, the small mistakes aside, the food was delicious, the service was quick and courteous and the beers - we had a Raspberry/Pear ale - were absolutely incredible.
Erica is right I would give this restaurant zero stars if possible they awarded me free beer on Facebook but had a tough time honoring. Â Now they are holding my money for four days. Â Bad service bad food half the beers were out of stock. Â Manager Avoided us. Â Full of smokers and dogs.
Review Source:Would give it zero stars if it would let me. There is no way the place is going to last in our tight little community with the attitudes everyone has in there. Â Terrible food, terrible drinks, and the employees make it a terrible atmosphere. Its a shame really because I was looking forward to being a regular there.
