This is the first 'one star' review I have ever given. This place actually deserves zero stars after the dining experience I had. Finding a huge hair in the food was not the only misfortune my dinner party had encountered. Â
My parents took my fiance and myself out to dinner while on vacation. They suggested The Adobe because it has a reputation for being upscale. The whole resort looked very old and outdated. Once inside, we were seated and had a great view of the ocean. We were all very excited for our meal. We all started with the salad bar and were very pleased with the quality. While we finished our salads, we were unaware it would be our last happy moment at The Adobe.
I ordered the halibut fillet which came with a pineapple, watermelon salsa. The salsa was so inedible. I had to scrape it all off. The halibut was so over cooked, the texture was more like squid. I could not eat more than a few bites. My mother ordered an alfredo dish. She mentioned that the alfredo tasted burnt, after I tried a bite, we agreed it was defiantly burnt and should of never been served. Just at that moment my stepfather found a very long HAIR in his food. Not just a small little hair, this thing was a monster and mixed into all the seafood. He immediately got up and took his plate of hairy food to the manager.
After a few minutes, the manager came to our table to talk to us. In stead of being apologetic, she started being aggressive and rude. She proclaimed that everyone in the kitchen was wearing a hairnet. Defensively she said, "There was no way the hair was from anyone on the staff," and then she looked at my mother in a very accusing way. We were all very sure the manager was suggesting my mother put the hair in the food. I could not believe it!
She reached her hand straight out over the table and loudly said, "If you are unhappy with your dinner please give it to me right now and you will not be charged." She was so aggressive it made us all feel like we did something wrong. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. I am very happy to pay for a good dining experience. I do not have to lie to get out of paying the bill. The manager did not apologize and we will never return again. Â
Please do yourself a favor, I would stay away from this place.
We had breakfast this last Sunday, and because it's "off season" the Sunday brunch buffet was not available (I've heard nothing but rave reviews about the brunch experience). But this "normal" breakfast was nothing to write home about. The coffee was bitter (diner quality), and the hash browns were undercooked and greasy. The house made biscuit on the other hand was something divine - I could have had a plate full of those babies and been very happy. Instead I ordered a fritatta and was pretty disappointed. It was underseasoned and the presentation (with something like two slices of cheddar cheese melted thickly on top) was pretty foul. It was also molten hot... so hot that it was still hot the entire time I ate it and I had waited and helped my daughter cut her waffle... but I was the last one finished with breakfast at our table and my eggs were still burning my mouth! Don't know what was going on there, but I wouldn't recommend that dish to anyone. Bleh. (It might have been improved with some salsa and sour cream, and an ice bath!)
