I was none too thrilled when my other half informed me he had business in Chattanooga during my birthday. But I put a smile on my face, prepared the new puppy for his first road trip to Chattanooga, got in the car and headed north on 75. We spoke of stories past involving Chattanooga. The one place I have the fondest memories of in Chattanooga is this place. There was a time in the mid nineties that we would come here just to change things up a lil from the ATL. Always a friendly bunch here at Allen's. What a way to spend my birthday as well. This drag bar in Chattanooga makes me happy. Happy happy happy!
Review Source:WTF kind of place is this anyway? First of all, the name sounds like a gym or jewelry store.
The interior is quite bizarre, especially for a "dance club." How in the world are you going to dance when the floor is the size of your living room and there are so many different steps/levels? It really looks like a pirate ship inside. Okay, that may be worth a visit alone.
Also, the drag show was just... unprofessional. During a song, one of the performer's breasts flopped out of her shirt. I thought it was funny, but she probably didn't.
I know Chattanooga doesn't have a lot of options in the gay-friendly bar zone, but this shouldn't even be considered.
My youth. Dancing. Drinking. Having a blast.
Many of my most fun memories are from this bar. I know you must be thinking "how sad!"
Not really.
I first went to this bar when I was 21. I was very young and coming into my own.
I really do believe that if I had never been to this bar..I would have never moved to San Francisco.
Its a dance bar. Its also a great environment to have fun. They are so accepting of everyone. It doesnt matter about your race, sexual identity, Â gender or general appearance. Everyone is welcome.
I have been to hundreds of bars and this is the one that I rate them against.
The best nights to go are Fridays and Saturdays. They usually have a drag show and its so much fun. The crowd is mostly str8 on Saturdays. Lots of Str8 couples go out and watch the drag show and then dance on saturday nights.
The drinks prices are so sweet. You can get a pitcher of beer for $5. Yes...$5. You wont find those prices in San Francisco. Or Nashville for that matter.
The bartenders are great too. They are so great about getting to you quickly and the bar is always packed. You can check out the country bar in the back too. You can usually get drinks faster b/c the crowd isnt as heavy.
Around 1 am is when the bar becomes a club and you can start dancing. My best friend and I would go crazy dancing with the great lighting and sound system.
If you live in the chattanooga area or visiting...I highly recommend you stop by and have a drink.
