Aldo's Pizza & Pub

My sister and her hubs are fairly new to the G -town scene, and quickly realized there are not a lot of great dining options in the area.  However, they happened upon Aldo's and have been raving about the pizza ever since.  Wondering if their love for it was simply from the restaurant deprivation they are experiencing in their new locale, I decided to check it out when running errands recently.  As it was lunch time on a Monday, I pretty much had the place to myself.  However, the wait staff were friendly and attentive but not overly so.  I ordered an Italian Beef sandwich and I was mightily impressed!  The bread was perfect - soft and decadent.  The tender, thinly sliced beef was piled high, and tasty to boot.  The whole sandwich was placed open faced under a broiler and browned to perfection.  It was coupled with a delicious cup of Italian Wedding Soup and I was perfectly pleased.  I'll be back - next time with my favorite sister and brother-in-law - to check out this pizza they've become so enamoured with.

It is unclear if you are supposed to wait to be seated or seat yourself. We sat ourselves after asking the bartender what to do. The bartender was also the only server. Service was extremely slow due to the lack of help. The pizza was so-so. They could use new cups, because they were old, scratched, and dirty plastic cups circa 1990. We sat in a booth in the bar area. I did peek into the larger dining room where I found a disarray of tables and a pool table.

It seems that they are unsure of what they want to be. If they want to be a bar and restaurant then the pool table should be in the bar with a couple tall tables and the restaurant patrons should be in the dining room. There should also be at least one server for the bar and one for the restaurant.

I also need to mention that a member of the kitchen staff came in and the bartender/server was suprised to see him. She said something like "I thought you were sick?" and he responded something like "I am, but no one else would work." He should NOT be in the kitchen and the customers DO NOT want to hear that!

There are better places to visit than Aldo's.
