This place is a very German styled beer hall that is rather cozy. They serve half and full liters of traditional German beer like hofbrau and weihestephan, among others. Beer radishes, pretzels, Â and shot skis are staples here. There is also a decent selection of German liquors like kirshwasser, stroh, and brandies. Â The patio is now open behind the building, Â and provides nice shady relaxation. Â Traditional oompah music is usually being played by someone dressed in lederhosen.
Review Source:After it reopened in March it took some time for me to get back to the stube. The interior  was much nicer with some really good improvements. No food yet but more beers on tap. A bit expensive at 6.50 each but for a couple of genuine German beers, its worth it.  Maybe it was a bad night or maybe she was just tired, but I thought the service by the bartender was awful.  She served on time but really was non-engaging and a bit bitter (maybe it was the outfit they make her wear?)  She never even cracked a smile when the other patrons tried to joke with her and gave off a "when are you gonna leave so i can get home" vibe.... it was 8:30ish?!  Service is a big deal to me and there are too many places near by to enjoy a weeknight beer.  I will try again on a different night when the patio is open.  Hope the service is better next time and i hope they get food soon!  Bottom line is good improvements to the interior and new beers but service this time around made my experience rather unpleasant.  But try it again and hope your experience is better, i really liked this place in the past and hope it was just an off night for her.  BTW...no TV's anymore so i hope the company you bring is good.
Review Source:Von Rothenburg's Bier Stube is under new management and revitalized. If you haven't visited lately, it is worth a second look. Great food, fresh bier and great service!
I was skeptical when several friends suggested to meet up there. My last experience in Summer 2012 was downright awful. I am glad that I agreed to give them another chance. They closed for a period of time when new ownership took over. They refreshed the space and level of service and brought the space back to life.
To start, everything with very clean and the service was exceptional even after the room started to fill up. The waitress was very friendly, fun and attentive. They even don the more traditional dirndls. It does not appear that the website from the old ownership is up-to-date (3/12) but they do maintain and update their Facebook page frequently. They recently updated their hours to include Sundays - when in doubt, give a quick call to confirm.
They now offer a selection of snacks from a hot pretzel that is bigger than your head to my personal favorite, the beer radish. The beer radish is a snappy, salted radish cut into curls. It is a perfect accompaniment to a liter or two. Did I also mention a giant pretzel? Although I did not partake, I did eye up the apple strudel as well...with whipped cream.
When the weather is warmer, they have seating the the Bier Garten behind the Stube. If you are wondering what bier to enjoy, try a sampler paddle of five. (Note: "Spankings on request only") Otherwise, I fully endorse the Weihenstephan Hefe Weizen if you like a creamy wheat beer with a spicy, citrus bite.
Please do you best to look past the earlier reviews that reflect the old ownership and standards of service. They are doing great things and I anticipate they will win me over for that extra star in no time.
Fun Facts: Rest assured kids, they do still offer the 2L boot and 5L mug. Main Street in front of the building offers plenty of free, angled street parking.
