Found this restaurant on Yelp. Did not realize when I set out to find it that it is actually about 8 miles out of Tillamook town center / 8 miles off 101. Worth It! Sweet ride along the river and through Oregon farm country.

Great breakfast place. Dad and I had biscuits and gravy with eggs (Brian's special) and it was the real deal. Mine with pepper bacon (substitution - No problem.) - so good and filling. Mom had waffles and pretty much licked the plate while complaining it was too much food. Plenty of refills of the large "Alice's County House" coffee mugs too.

The restaurant is a series of rooms that were apparently the office of a vacation cabins operation from the 30's or 40"s. It is filled with farming and logging ephemera. The service was friendly and attentive.

Yay! I'm a Fan

I've only eaten there once. Last month after my colonoscopy I was starving, so we decided to stop at Alice's on the way home. I thought my cheeseburger was great, and my husband loved his special burger also.
I did go to the salad bar, and wasn't to excited about it, it's very small. Next time I'll just order the coleslaw (which was very good).

Have to admit, it's been a couple-few years since I lived in the Tillamook area, but I remember Alice's so fondly. Good homecooking, ample portions...

It's a diner on a rural highway, so one needs to expect service and ambiance accordingly, but, oh...I don't know that I ever had bad food there, truly!! MMMMmmm! Fond memories!

Ok Food.
Service is extremely rude. Our server hates working here. To bad it was actually the time we wanted to give the place a chance.
She complained about my son ordering strawberry milkshake. Really.........

For a roadside diner in the middle of the woods, it's not a bad place for breakfast. The pepper bacon, thick and tasty, is the definite star of the show. Portions are big and the breakfast dishes are your standard morning staples. No need to buy a kids meal, chances are Mom won't be able to finish hers. And Dad too for that matter.

It's a good place for kids- kids menu and lots of puzzles, books, and other toys to keep the munchkins entertained. Not too mention all that eclectic stuff filling the place.

I have eaten here before once, for breakfast. It was very good so we decided to go back on the way to the beach with my entire family on mothers day. We had called the day before and made a reservation for 10am. When we arrived, we were seated at a large table for the four of us and a 2 year old. There were only two waitresses on mothers day and no bus persons. Most of the tables were messy and after 30 minutes, we never even received an acknowledgement or a menu. We kept waving for the waitress and she said she would be right with us. No such luck. After 45 minutes she said she would be right there then started clearing and busing the table next to us. We waited 55 minutes, with no water, coffee or a menu and had a reservation! I got up and went to the front counter and those two poor waitresses were also handling the counter. I felt sorry for the 15 people waiting to be seated inside the door as we left!
I love these mom and pop roadside diners, usually the food and service is friendly and good. This place needs major improvement.

After a long day at the beach and other sight seeing, we wanted to finish our day at the Tillamook cheese and ice cream factory, but they were closed (despite the hours listed on line.) So we decided to head home and find a place to eat on our way which is how we stumbled upon Alice's Country House. My husband and I are fans of these mom and pop kind of places. They might look a little run down, but they always have good food. We walked in and the hostess/waitress was super friendly. Looked like there were some regulars at the bar eating pie and having coffee. I ordered a BLT with a salad from the salad bar. The salad bar was a little chinsy, but that could've just been because it was close to when they were about to close up for the night. The BLT was pretty standard. My husband got a burger with ham and all the fixings and it was HUGE! We finished off with what we came to Tillamook for, and that was ice cream in waffle cones. The food and service was good. We left satisfied.

Head east young man! Over the dairyland and through the woods to Alice's house we go.

What a great day. Southeast of downtown Tillamook, you venture through the grassy dairylands, into the mountains. After a good spring rain, you will see the mountain spirits hiding in the mist. Its a pretty sight. We are talking about a particularly gorgeous 9 mile drive heading into tree covered, lush mountains, following a winding lazy river. The mist has that "Brigadoonish" essense.

So. We have arrived at our destination, refreshed and invigorated and ready to eat. Alice's looks like a cute mountain cabin inside. Cozy stone fireplace, old timey character and friendly vibes. Eclectic. Old jars, antlers, and lethal farm implements hanging from the walls and ceiling. Antique furniture and local pictures. Three separate dining areas. Plenty of room for all.

The food:

Pepper bacon. Really good, smokey, thick, meaty, good fat, but not crispy. Where from you might ask? From Warrenton, Oregon. Reed and Hertig. I found it has been Yelped. Here you go, bacon lovers.
http://www.yelp.com/biz/…

Chicken fried steak. This is a thick cubed steak, floured then grilled so it reminds me of liver and onions (sans onions). Served with a heavy cream gravy that was ok not great. We've been spoiled by too many breakfast places lately. Stick with the bacon.

Fresh eggs. Two. Cooked just so!

The hash browns were freshly shredded, but slightly under done and not crispy. Hence not greasy either. I was disappointed, not over the fact they weren't greasy, but because they just weren't that good. I would try country fries next time.

However, the wheat toast was great tasting and generously pre-buttered. I like that. It came with a cup of good raspberry jam.

IMHO, the brightest star was the bacon.

And by the way, little roadhouses like this feature homemade pies and pastries. We saw a little case that looked mighty tempting. While we did not succumb this time around, it is worth a second glance.

Overall a decent breakfast even though I may seem critical.

Love their breakfasts! Great hamburgers and onion rings, too! I've never been disappointed in a meal here! And Alice is a real person! Very nice, too! Try this place, you'll like it, too!

Went mushroom hunting over the weekend!!! FUN...

Had a late lunch at Alice's (Have been passing by this place for so many times).

Everything was ok but the Clam Chowder, it was sour. My babe tried it too and so I put a little salt in it, helped a little! I didn't send it back (I don't know why).

Salad bar was okay (wish they have some eggs & corn).
My babe had Halibut burger, he said it was okay.

Loved it! There are not enough places that really make a community like this one. This is a diner and everything is good. Loved the pepper bacon, & homemade raspberry jam.

The inside is a trip down memory lane of the Tillamook, Oregon area complete with old photos, a bear skin, antlers, and lots of antiques. You feel like you are family when you leave.....provided that you are a nice person to start with, that is. : )

Oh, and they cater, too.

Will stop by again!

As the menu says if you are in a hurry don't eat here, but it didn't take forever and a day to get our food. It was a good breakfast too! It was pretty reasonably priced and had a lot of options. We both had breakfast but on our way out I check out a couple peoples lunch plates and the sandwiches looked awesome! On our next trip back to the beach we are stopping again. The waitresses were super nice and friendly. Good down home cookin too!

"Beavers in the car and Ducks in the trunk" greets you as you walk in the door along with a ton of other Beavers memorabilia. Not the best day for two of us to wear Ducks gear, but college rivalry aside, they still served us with a smile.

This roadside diner on the outskirts of Tillamook has been a family favorite for a couple years. Nothing fancy, but the local vibe and better than average diner fare make it stand out.

When you walk in the door, there is a small cafe with a few bar stools and tables to the right, and more traditional restaurant seating to the left. We always prefer to sit in the cafe and feel like one of the locals, even though our shirts are the wrong color.

Burgers, sandwiches, Tillamook ice cream. Good stuff.

You know how you're driving out to the coast and pass those little diners and general stores and wonder what they're like but you always drive past but you think, "i really should try one of these places sometime." Alice's is one of those places and you should give it a try.

Food is fairly typical diner food. Nothing fancy buts lots of burgers and various sandwiches plus deserts. Family run, staff are very friendly and the photos on the wall show that this is a local gathering place. Coffee must have been more than OK because the wife drank it, and she won't unless it's better than OK.

Summary: good road food, good atmosphere. Another bonus: no AT&T coverage, so leave the iPhone in your pocket and talk to people ;-)

I drive from Vancouver to eat here! The 3 cheese burger is my favorite. Imagine it: homemade buns, tillamook cheese, fresh beef, all local vegetables and to top it off, fresh Tillamook Ice cream! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Stopped in for an early dinner, mom and daughter team worked the counter. Very friendly atmosphere - mix of locals and tourists and all were socializing. I ordered the Lousiana burger, which is all kinds of unhealthy and maybe a bit much for most folks, but I found it delicious. The fries were perfectly done. Topped off with some Tillamook ice cream and a beer for a great $14 dinner. Excellent motorcycle touring pitstop.
