The Alumni has the greatest bar pizzas-the most efficient staff and a warm cozy atmosphere. One sure fire way to know where you are eating...their bathrooms are SPOTLESS.  You really can'tt get better than this for a local fun place to eat and hang out.

The only reason I gave this place 1 star is because the waitstaff and bartenders there are phenomenal. It's the Alumni's only redeeming quality.

I have been eating here for years and recently ordered takeout and it was awful! Undercooked chicken and soggy french fries along with a pizza and a few other things.Didnt eat the chicken because it was soggy and still pink so I brought it back.

Apparently the owner does not like the idea of returning undercooked, unsatisfying and potentially dangerous food! He put a real fight and had a bad attitude over what was probably a $10-$20 meal.

Needless to say I will never be returning to this restaurant and would not recommend them to anyone unless you want to pay $20 bucks for food poisoning.

I choose my star ratings by what you get compared to the price (this one is a $$), and Alumni in Pembroke definitely is one of the best casual dining spots on the South Shore. There is a neighborhood feel to the place, the servers/bartenders are very friendly, the managers seem relaxed as opposed to some places where they look like prison wardens keeping watch over the staff. The biggest upside to this place is the food. The turkey tips were perfectly cooked and I also got a broiled fisherman's platter on another location that could have been served at a white-tablecloth restaurant. I also have hear the pizza is good here from many people, but can't speak from personal experience. If you're on the South Shore and looking to spend $11-25 per person on a casual dinner, Alumni is a great choice.

We often go here for lunch on weekends when we're in the area and were surprised to find what is basically a dive bar with reasonably priced and tasty food. It's not fancy, but it is good. If you basically don't want to be fussed over it's great. The menu has a good amount of variety from salads, sandwiches, bar style pizza to more substantial fare like steak tips or fish dishes. If you plan to visit often, sign up for their frequent visitor card. They send you coupons for free meals all the time including for your birthday, anniversary and even your half birthday!

My family decided to have lunch here today to redeem a coupon my mother got for her birthday. A 'free dish' should have saw that coming!! Food was good, however, the waitress we had was clearly in a bad mood.  She was somewhat attentive, but she did not hold back her sour attitude.  If the service was better I would have considered going back, perhaps we will just stick with takeout!

Staff was relatively attentive.  I had to toss a glance or two in the direction of our waitress to get her attention when there was a bit of a lull in service.

To start, my friend got the onion soup and was pleased. I got the house chili. It was... different.  It was good, just not used to such a soupy chili, but again... tasty nonetheless.  I got the Montreal Bleu Burger (Montreal Seasoning/Bleu Cheese) and she got the Reuben Sandwich.  Food was hot and very tasty.  Seasoned fries were spot on. I got the onion rings (I prefer a thicker cut, but the shoestring onion rings here were not bad).  We split a turtle cheesecake (only other items on dessert menu are two chocolate items).  If this was a frozen cheesecake (as I would have suspected from a pub), you could have fooled me.  Cheesecake was very good, caramel on it was warm.  Just a nice final course to our meal.

I will be returning here to try some more dishes. AND... they had Molson!! (My beer of choice)

After a rousing bowling game at Boston Bowl, the fam and I made a detour to Alumni on the way home. I was slightly doubtful about having dinner at a bar where last I entered was populated by middle-aged locals. But it turns out it's a hopping place with tons of families chowing down. My sis and I ordered identical Peppermint Kisses, which I promptly downed, leaving me feeling warm and content. Sadly the immense amount of hot cocoa in my belly precluded me from finishing my bourbon st turkey tips dinner after enjoying chicken quesadilla as an app. But I assure you both were tasty and exceeded expectations. Just don't expect 4-star service, nor should you - really, every surface is covered with oak and there's a gigantic scratch ticket machine by the door.

It would be too easy to dismiss this place as a "local dive bar" - don't make that mistake!!  The food here is FAR better than typical bar food - the British Beer Company up the street has NOTHING on this place.  If you get here on a Friday or Saturday night - expect a wait because it is a great place to bring the family or friends for dinner, but its worth it.  I have always found the pizza so good!!  Crispy crust, great toppings and a fair amount of grease - but what is bar pizza with none? The steak tips are so tender and delicious, burgers are great, even the clam chowder is awesome!   They have great specials (all kinds of seafood, pasta dishes) and I think the prices are extremely reasonable.    I have always had good service and the bartenders are quick and attentive as well.

Local spot and its good.  She isnt the prettiest place or the flashiest but if your looking for a home grown spot this is it.  The chicken quesadillas are too die for. They have the quality of Grade A, you would swear your grandmother made them special for you.

The few times I've ordrerd were only take-out. I found the pizza to be nothing special, very greasy bar room style.Another time I ordered some kind of club sandwich which was very processed and salty and the fries were soggy.

You pay for take out by the back door where the kitchen is and the food prep area didn't look to clean to me.Prices seemed high for such mediocre food.

Overall, good local bar to watch a game and eat some good pub food. Haven't had the bar room pizza yet but it looks pretty darn good everytime I see one go by! Watched a few of the Celtics playoff games and this place was perfect just to get out and watch some of the game. There's a bar area with high tables and then the back has booths and tables (for a more dining setting). Good options on the menu. everything from seafood, pasta, sandwiches, pizza, salads and apps. It can easily help you fill your need with whatever you're craving. Wish they had a better beer selection. Standards bud, miller, coors, etc but not really any speciality / microbrews that many other places in the area has. I will still continue to come here to watch a sporting event when I'm in the area

Good townie bar. Lots of locals, plenty of beer on tap, pretty standard pub food (burgers, pub pizza, sandwiches, salads, etc), with some verrrrry garlicy chicken broccoli ziti (still good, tho!), good steak tips, some seafood options, and the regular appetizer list (wings, chicken tenders, nachos...). Think lots of framed, autographed Pats pics, Keno, and it kind of looks like your single guy friend's "man cave". Manitorium, if you will. Your guy will love it.

Alumnae has the best bar room pizza in the area and they are reasonably priced in all areas of the menu.  Good service.  i also suggest the steak tips.
