Angelo & Son's Seafood

The food was bland and greasy, they where out of almost all of the seafood on the menu! I enjoyed the atmosphere and the good service but the food was just ok... There wasn't a very big pop of flavor, like you get when you eat at most other elegant restaurants. If you are looking to drop money on a date then come here!

I read about Angelo's in the NY Times 36 hours in Apalachicola and my husband and I went there with an old friend to catch up over dinner.  We sat on the porch, which had a spectacular view of a killer sunset and then we watched the bats come out.

We started with fried crab claws which were good, then I had a salad (good dressing, pretty average salad) while our friend had a tasty looking gumbo.  For entrees we had the stuffed grouper, fried mullet and shrimp, and fried soft shell crab.  The stuffed group was really delicious with roasted tomatoes on top for a great hit of acid and the crab stuffing was really great.  I love hushpuppies and these were really spectacular.  The grits were solid, not amazing.  My husband's shrimp were enormous and the mullet was perfectly fried.  Our friend's soft shell crab was generous and he enjoyed it as well.  We all had key lime pie for dessert and it was exactly the way I like it---really creamy not too bitter.  

My only critique would be that my husband and I agreed after we left that if they had offered us a wine list or drink menu we probably would've ordered drinks but instead drank sweet tea!

Wow, so many negative reviews but I had a positive experience! Over the weekend, I went with a group of girls to Panacea, FL. My friend has a condo and kept telling us about the restaurant so we finally went. The view is gorgeous! We sat on the patio and loved it. We had the oysters and fried blue crabs. I am not a big seafood fan but the fried blue crabs were yummy. The staff is super friendly, we had a blast talking to them. We took pictures with at least 4 different waitresses, lol.
