Every time I went to Anzi, I intended to try something new, but...not that there aren't many tempting menu choices, I just love the calzone so much that I ordered it every time! Â
Good food, pleasant atmosphere and the service was pleasant and efficient whether I went for lunch or dinner.
My family visited nearby Reed Gold Mine, and when we were done, we were really hungry. Â I hopped on Yelp in search of a good spot for lunch. Â I wasn't disappointed!
This restaurant is located in a strip mall, and although it doesn't look like much from the outside, the inside is pretty sleek, and comfortable. Â There is a refrigerated case displaying several types of stromboli, calzone, and ginormous stuffed pizzas. Â
In all, we ordered: 2 slices cheese pizza, 1 chicken, spinach, and garlic calzone, 1 original stromboli, a greek salad, and a kids' spaghetti with meat sauce. Â With 4 drinks, this was $41. Â I found the cost to be a little high, especially for the salad (I think this was 7.99) but it was very large, (as were all items) and easily split between all of us.
The salad had greek olives, tomato, lots of large chunks of feta, and cucumber. Â The dressing was very fresh-tasting. Â Quite enjoyable.
The pizza was New York style, thin crust. Â Sauce was flavorful, and they crisped the bottom nicely.
The stromboli was ok. Â It didn't grab me, but I wasn't paying attention enough when I ordered it, and it was very heavy on meat, and I'm just not into that. Â My fault. Â Served with marinara.
The calzone was TASTY. Â The chicken inside was actually crispy breaded chicken, and included lots of cheese, and marinara on the side.
I was quite impressed with the spaghetti's size and meat sauce. Â This was really flavorful, and not the bland, watery sauce frequently found in a kids' meal.
I would definitely come back, if I am in the area again!
This little jewel in Locust is not fancy, but it is comfortable and relaxing. Â You order from the menu - a fairly large but not overwhelming document that includes a few apps, several salads, pastas, pizzas and subs - at the counter. Â Dad or son calls your number and waits for you to motion them over with the food when it's ready. Â
We sat in a cozy booth - the kind that isn't cramped but has fairly high backs to create a feeling of privacy - for over 2 hours, chatting and eating.  The Greek salad was very fresh  and delicious.  The wine and beer menus were small but ample (a cab - which tasted fine and mild, a chard, and a white zin; Peroni, Corona, and several domestics).  The Buffalo chicken pizza had good crust - thin and well-cooked - and nice use of cheese.  It was a tad greasy and the sauce on the chicken was too sweet for my taste, but my lovely companion really enjoyed it.  There were several stuffed pizza, calzone and by-the-slice options in the front case that looked enticing. Â
I will definitely be returning.
I've only been here once... I'd like to go back and try more. I had a simple slice of cheese pizza - New York style- it was really good. I wished I had brought napkins with me because trying to eat this on the road was a rough job. I had my good jeans on and didn't want to get grease on them. Now I know.
I would also get something "for here" because the place is nice and comfy- I wanted to hang out. The Ms. Pacman game in the back was heartily noted. Great outdoor seating, booths, tables. They serve beer and wine. Great night out.
PS Family owned!
