We stopped in here after the Tough Mudder looking for a place to booze while watching the last of the games that were on. Â They had a very decent bar, great beer specials and the bartender was a cool guy. Â There were TV's all over the place, all tuned to various games. Â The place was jumping, but is there really all that much to do in Florence? Â No offense, guys. Â
I thought Apple Annie's was doing a good job handling the crowd. Â Everyone seemed to have a drink in hand and having a good time. Â They had a three-piece band doing decent covers of good songs, and although I thought they were WAY too loud given the size of the place, that seems to be universal in bars. Â The background music during set breaks was set to a good level, and they were playing good tunes.
I can't figure out why the people who I work with are so in love with this place. I have been here several times over the years and find this place to be barely adequate for a bar/pub. They have a wide selection of beers which doesn't really interest me but would be a big selling point for anyway looking for a little beer diversity in the FLO. The inside isn't all that expansive and they have a deck outside that usually gets filled up fast. Service is spotty at times. I have had a smattering of their different sandwiches (burgers and chicken sandwiches) which have all just been ok. Never really had any of them that I would consider bad. The sides and fries are also just average. I don't mind ordering food here when out on social gatherings but I wouldn't eat here for any other reason. Head here for the beer and bar atmosphere but get your food elsewhere.
