The Apple House

Absolutely awful food and service. It took 45 minutes for us to receive our food. First, the order came out wrong -- the chicken salad sandwich was on white rather than wheat, and they didn't give us the donut that we ordered. Mistakes are fine, but they then returned with the sandwich on wheat, but left the white bread in the middle of the newly assembled sandwich.

The sandwich was more of a mayonnaise sandwich than a chicken salad sandwich. The bison burger and potato salad were bland, bland, bland. The French fries we ordered with the burger had no flavor, were totally limp, and tasted like pure grease.

All that said, the famed donut was pretty good. Not the best, but I wouldn't shy away from it.

While you might expect the Apple House restaurant to be decorated like a nice mom and pop tourist spot, it was closer to a glorified gas station.

Bottom line: pass on this one.

Got in around lunch time with my bro specifically for the donuts (thanks yelp!).  Donut was less than a dollar and was served fresh (literally).  It was still hot when i took about.  Donut was super good.  A little too much on the brown sugar for my liking but you could definitely taste the hints of apple.  Wish the donut was a little bit bigger (for comparison, it is smaller than a dunkin donut), but for the price I can't really complain much.  So bros and boos, if you ever in the Shenandoah Valley, you should definitely check this place out.

Wine tasting, long line, waited for foods, good decent eats. Donuts are good, people nice.
