I was in Angola for a soccer tournament at Trine University. Nice Campus... nice small town... Likely some hidden gems here, but I can't find them on Yelp, because the Hoosiers in this portion of Indiana don't Yelp. There were half a dozen reviews in the area, but only one by someone local to Indiana.
So after the game we needed to feed 22 athletes and a dozen or so parents and no one was interested in taking a flier. So we headed to Applebee's with about 35 people.
I'm not a fan of Applebee's, but admit that they can do quite well with a burger which I should of stuck with. At the last minute I reached a little too far for a 10 oz Bourbon Sirloin Steak and was disappointed. My steak was tough, fatty and flavorless.. I should know better by now... stick with the burger and you won't be disappointed.
What's the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.
The service here was great, which earned them a 3rd star. Groups have to be a double edge sword for any restaurant, but our large group was accommodated quickly and without issue. No dropped orders. No complaints about separate checks for the parents.
And since the athletes were being funded on the team's account, it turned out a good deal for me. That's one advantage of college soccer. The other advantage of college sports... I didn't have to put up with the post-loss blues in my car.
Team buses are a great thing.
