We went two times in the past month for first time ever.  The waitress and staff were honestly extremely nice.  My wife had the ribs and they were nothing special actually prob 2 start ribs very dry and not tasty.  I had a 9 oz sirloin  medium which was a 3 star steak for sure.  My daughter had the chicken tenders and fries and loved them. We also busted down the apple sangria and a Tuesday special Margarita.  We were out the door for $68 with tip for a family of 3 with 1 drink each.  Overall not bad but we decided for $70 we have other more tasty options.  Drinks rocked thou!
Review Source:Will never go back here. My mother-in-law's finger was burned by the platter her dessert was on. We did not know that a dessert would be s hot skillet container. The waitress (not our assigned waiter) did not warn us it was hot. She only told my mother-in-law it was hot after she burned her finger. The waitress apologized, and that was it. There was no sense of concern from the waitress, and did not give a burn-reliever spray or ice to ease the pain. We had to get a hold of our assigned waiter, who then told the manager about what had happened. The manager sprayed my mother-in-law's finger with burn-reliever spray and apologized. That was it.The main thing that troubled us is there was no sincerity to what they did. We did not feel welcomed or appreciated. The manager did not even give us a complimentary meal. We are never going back there. We did not bring this up for my mother-in-law did not want to start anything, but if it was me who was burned, I have definitely raised my voice.
Also, we had to remind our waiter to grab the dirty plates from our table every time. He was not attentive to our needs. He kept forgetting to give us certain things, such as spoon for desserts, napkins, and water. We had to get him every time.
Never going back to this Applebee's or any Applebee's.
Went in Saturday night for dinner. I can see now why it wasn't packed at 7:30pm.
If it wasn't for their "2 for $20" / "2 for $24" dinner specials, we would have gone elsewhere. Our server seemed uninterested in taking our order, let alone checking on us at any point in our visit. In fact, after taking our order, we got one refill when our mozzarella sticks came out & never seen Anthony again until he picked up the checkbook without even asking if we were "all set" or that he'd be "right back." He didn't even thank us for visiting. I could have used steak sauce but never was checked up on once while we ate our dinners. Just terrible service.
Will not go back. Ordered a margarita and could not taste the tequila in it. I ordered a shot of tequila to put in it and was told I could not have two drinks at the same time. I told them the margarita was so weak I couldn't  taste the tequila in it they told me that's the way they make them. Will never return to this place.
Review Source:This place has the worst food I've ever had a a franchise restaurant. Â I had riblet that was salty and didn't Taste like ribs at all. Â My husband had a alfredo dish THAT HAD NO SAUCE ON IT. Â Only thing that was good was the boneless buffalo wings.
I had a co-worker tell me that her and her husband had bad food at this location and they never went back. I wish she had told me this before we went.
I have to admit, living in Downtown Chicago, I don't often go to chain restaurants and I'm quite picky about my food and service. Â We stopped here as a "drive-by" because we were both starving and knew we'd get decent food, but were pleasantly surprised! Â Not only was the hostess and greeter really personable, but our server, Cassandra M, was delightful and attentive. Â She complimented my boyfriend on his chivalry (which made us both feel good...nice to be reminded of what an amazing guy I have), was patient with us as we decided exactly what we wanted to get, and recommended her favorite dishes when we were having problems deciding what we wanted. Â She even told us where the movie theater was!
Our food was surprisingly better than what we've gotten at Outback! Â We ordered the sirloin and shrimp/pasta and everything was really good...especially since it was "pick 2 for $24". Â The only thing we didn't like was that they didn't have chives for the baked potato.
I hate reviewing chains because if my power wasn't out I wouldn't have gone here. Solid food joint, split an appetizer with two buddies and got a garlic and lime shrimp dish that was better than I expected. Got two Miller Lites. Went here after Fox and Hound didn't have A/C, and as we were leaving some woman who was slammed asked us why. I said no A/C. If you have to go here or Fox and Hound, choose the former due to clientele...hahah!
Review Source:Sigh. I'll eat here as long as I keep getting gift cards to this place. But nothing ever convinces me to come back and play with my own money.
The most recent target of my ire was the Cajun shrimp with steak, and other assorted vegetables. The veggies, grilled peppers and onions, were the best part of the meal. Not a good thing.
First off; the dish wasn't sizzling. I get that "sizzle" is a novelty food selling strategy designed to tickle my ears, and everyone else's at the restaurant. Fine. So can't you at least DO the required sizzle?
The plate on the table, I first tried the shrimp. Not bad, maybe a tad overcooked. Well seasoned, for a chain restaurant.
The steak was a lesson in bovine abuse. Whatever seasoning was used on the shrimp was also used in the steak, to little effect. It had been trimmed ridiculously poorly, as evidenced by the chunks of gristle that I kept chewing like cud. I ordered medium rare and got something just shy of medium well. My parents deserved more for their $13.99!
For heavens' sake, give the kitchen a Thermapen and teach them how to use it! It's grilling, not rocket science.
On the plus side, the strawberry limeade wasn't bad. I won't comment (too much) on the restaurant's tawdry attempt to localize into the community.
Sarah chose to go to Applebee's after her graduation ceremony Friday night. Â We called ahead to let them know we were coming with 8 people. Â As it turned out more folks came after graduation also. Â They became pretty busy but there was definitely a sense of teamwork with the staff. Â Melissa was our waitress and she was very competant. At one point I turned my head to talk to my daughter on my left, and when I looked back to my right, there was a full glass of diet pepsi in front of me. Â The food was hot and delicious, fairly priced and promptly brought out, often by another staff member who had a free hand. Â WE WERE DEFINITELY IMPRESSED AND WILL BE BACK!
Review Source:eek.
Every time I come here, I'm disappointed. For some reason the food is just terrible; undercooked, cold, not appetizing. I usually come with another friend and get the 2 for $20 deal. Sounds like a deal til you try the food. I've ordered the chinese chicken salad, and its drenched in the sauce, overpowered by the crispy noodles. They claim to be a favorite, and I mean it's good for the first bite but it is definitely not a light salad. My boyfriend one time got the boneless wings and it was so greasy even after the coating.
The only good thing I can say about this is the desert (which is usually already made they just have to put it on a plate) and the spinach artichoke dip. But come on, who can get that wrong?
This is a mixed review. Â Overall I have to say that we have had better. However, the Wonton Tacos were fantastic. Â The family shared a trio appetizer of Sliders, Wonton Tacos, and Steak Quesadilla Towers. We also shared a single entree of Asiago Steak, Herbed Potatoes, and veggies.
Again- the Wonton Tacos were awesome! Â The steak was non-descript, Wonton Tacos were awesome, veggies are veggies, and the cook must have forgotten the herbs for the Herbed Potatoes (they were just boiled). Â Outside the tacos, I could have prepared as served at home.
Must give kudos though- the waiter was great! Â
All in all-ok place to go if you just want a quick bite to eat but we will be trying other places next time we are in the area.
