Arch Cape Inn may be the place for you if you:
1. Â Want complete privacy.
2. Â You love Bed & Breakfast hospitality.
3. Â You love being treated more like a house guest than a customer (this is the Inn's biggest strong point).
4. Â Enjoy having a three course breakfast made of organic and local ingredients. Â
5. Â You love Manzanita (I do) and believe it's a better beach spot than Cannon Beach.
6. Â You love wine hour and socializing. Â
7. Â Cable TV.
This place is not for you if:
1. Â You can't live without a cell phone. Â The cell phone reception isn't great and that was wonderful for me since I love to fall off the grid sometimes.
2. Â You must have garage parking and a paved parking lot.
3. Â You think a five minute drive to get to Cannon Beach would kill you.
4. Â You have to have 24/7 room service. Â The Innkeeper wraps up in the later evening but you can contact the Innkeeper at anytime via phone (number's provided during your stay).
5. Â Want/Have to bring your kids.
6. Â You want to bring your dog but your dog barks all the time.
7. Â It would kill you to drive less than five minutes at 35 mph to get to a beach.
Why is Arch Cape Inn outstanding:
1. Â Across the board, the staff is exceptionally gracious in how you get treated like a guest but in a very subtle and regal fashion.
2. Â I wanted to surprise my girlfriend with flowers and berries already in the room. Â Thinking that this would be an inconvenience to the staff here, I was very welcomed with a willingness to help me out. Â Also, Cynthia (I think she's an owner of this facility) recommended some local florists and even offered to pick up roses at a store and have them set in the room before we arrived. Â WOW.
3. Â Bonnie and her team was very sociable and helpful. Â The experience overall was memorable. Â
4. Â We were running very behind leaving Seattle due to two huge accidents along I-5 in Tacoma and the Innkeeper called to see if we were okay. Â
My wish list:
1. Â Bring back dinner because if the breakfast is a 10/10, what more of dinner?
2. Â Towels lint easily (but the Inn informed us of the County's water restriction).
Overall:
This is my home away from home even though my home feels less at home than this place. Â Honestly, I am considering buying property out there now...
Arch Cape Inn & Retreat is a treasure!
From the gorgeous inside to the lovingly-cared for landscape, from the attentive service to the feeling that this is our romantic getaway, Arch Cape Inn offers a retreat from the rest of your life. On a honeymoon? Need another one? I can't recommend it highly enough. That, and the 4-course meal at breakfast overlooking the fireplace, the ocean, or the gardens, is sure to win your heart and your belly! I loved the chocolate dessert: chocolate dessert (!!!) at breakfast. Everything was made-to-order, and especially for any eating preferences (e.g. we don't eat red meat or pork, so Cynthia, the innkeeper had our breakfast made vegetarian style, which was lovely). They offer a wine and appetizer hour, which is lovely, and Sleepy Monk coffee all the time, which is delicious!!!
We stayed in the Gauguin room which offered a slight view of the water, a gas fireplace, tv, refrigerator, and a hot tub: perfect for the atmospherically grey skies and chilly day and night we stayed. The one downside was that the bathroom didn't have a door. Cynthia offered us a choice of a bottle of red or white wine, explaining that the towels weren't very soft: so thoughtful!
We had a fabulous time at Arch Cape Inn and will definitely return!
We just got back from a FANTASTIC 4 days at the Arch Cape Inn for our 15th anniversary. My wife and I run a business together so trying to book anything without her knowing is a challenge. From the first contact with Cynthia, she could not have done more to help. She suggested special touches to make the time we were there so memorable. There were beautiful roses for us on arrival with colors chosen for us and a wonderful card welcoming us. The Champagne and cheese was perfect, and the owners suite is just amazing. Clean, beautifully appointed, comfy towels and sheets and a nice view of the ocean. The wine socials are a great touch and the breakfasts.......... All I can say is amazing. Cynthia has the ability to make you feel so comfortable and has a great set of folks to back her up. Bonnie was great at communicating to me before we arrived and Eric and Amy were informative and caring. Thanks to all of them, my 15th anniversary surprise to my wife was PERFECT.
Review Source:One of the nicest places we've ever stayed. The property is beautiful and offers easy access to the beach. The inn itself is utterly charming, with beautiful rooms and views, wonderful mattresses and bed linens, and cozy fireplaces. The staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, provide dinner recommendations, and check in with us to see if we needed anything. The breakfasts are fantastic -- fresh fruit crisp, frittatas, chocolate fondue, oh my! -- and so filling you may want to skip lunch. We would happily recommend this place to friends and family.
Review Source:Spent two night here as well - amazing. Â The room was clean, cute, we had an amazing view of Castle Rock from our window. Â This was only my 2nd experience with a B&B and it did not disappoint. Â
Thanks first to Teresa - the innkeeper who made us feel instantly like the most important people in the world. Â Incredibly warm, and friendly - she took the time to show us our room, talk about the wireless (which is slow due to ALL the rooms having fireplaces), remind us that breakfast was at 9 a.m. and was a sit-down 3-course deal, showed us bottled water included in our fridge, and handed (and explained) a list of restaurant/pub/wine bar recommendations.
Tea is available all day. Â Coffee came out by 7 a.m. - but seriously, I wasn't awake because I was slumbering in a comfy room. Â Breakfast (which is at 9 a.m. - perfect for me!): Â let's talk.
Breakfast IS a sit-down, 3-course deal. Â I've never had a "gourmet 3 course" breakfast so I didn't know what to expect. Â Also, I have to note: Teresa took note of ALL dietary requests, allergies and preferences we had. Â Day 1 first course: Â organic yogurt with fresh raspberries, and mint with a raspberry compote on top, second course: kale (from their garden) and gruyere frittata, with either chicken apple sausage (I passed) or a beautiful "fruit cup" which was pretty much a work of art, third course: a pumpkin muffin with maple whipped cream on top. Â Day 2 first course: half a grapefruit brulee, with carmelized sugar on top, second course: a homemade herb biscuit, micro greens, poached egg and covered with a roasted mushroom/walnut sauce (think biscuits and gravy for the rich and famous), third course: chocolate muffin with fresh dark chocolate ganach on top.
Thank you Arch Cape Inn & Retreat for the extra 3 pounds my jeans had to deal with. Â It was WELL worth it!!
My only wish is that the restaurant wouldn't have been closed for the season - because I could pretty much eat there all day I just know it.
A truly perfect place to stay for a weekend at the Coast. The overall property and our room embodied relaxation and comfort and was extremely well-kept. And, I cannot forget the folks that run the inn! They are friendly, professional, and truly accomodating! One touch I truly loved was the morning breakfast offered by the inn. The meal was taken in a lovely little dining area that allowed you the ability to mingle a bit with other guests but also enjoy a private, tasty breakfast prepared with great care. All in all, my husband and I had most fantastic romantic getaway and much of the credit goes to the Arch Cape Inn!
Review Source:Lame.
Not only was the on site restaurant closed the night we were there, we also felt like prisoners, in the way the told us breakfast was at 9.
9?
Who, eats so late in the day on vaca?
Wireless was so bad, we could not even pull up a yelp app to review the place the night we stayed.
Coffee was another "late" item.
Lotsa money for a very, very little.
Hate to break the string of five star reviews but in one word Arch Cape Inn was disappointing. Â First, you must be aware that this property is not in Canon Beach, it is actually five miles south. Â And it it right on the busy Oregon Highway 101 which provides a fair share of traffic noise 24 hours a day. Â
The rooms at the Cape are over $300 per night but the accommodations are no better than rooms that can be found in Canon Beach for much less $$. Â Then, there is an additional requirement that you eat one dinner at the Cape for a fixed price of $49. Â Neither the portions nor the quality support that price point.
The facility is understaffed with cleaning personnel. Â The Inn Keeper and even the Chef can be seen filling in with some of the cleaning duties. Â Unfortunately the job is not done very well. Â The ceiling fans have probably not been dusted all season and our used wine glasses from the day before were not replaced.
There is some kind of water district problem that has caused the Inn to use really lousy linens, or so a placard placed in the room said. Â That is no excuse for a $$$ facility. Â It is no fun to dry off from a shower with little more that a cheap hotel quality face towel.
On a positive note, the staff was outgoing and friendly and the Inn Keeper took extra time to sit down and visit with us. Â Bottom line, if you don't care what you spend or what you get, the Arch Cape Inn will more than satisfy. Â If you are more discerning there are much better values to be found.
Spent two nights at the Arch Cape Inn recently and found it to be a wonderful experience. They were very accommodating to us and our Chocolate Labrador who was along for the experience. We stayed in a garden room (since only a few rooms accept dogs) and found it to be perfect. The grounds are simply gorgeous and well kept. Our room was comfortable and they even had dog bowls and a bed waiting for our pooch upon arrival, as well as 'beach towels' for his post-ocean swim.
Dinner was required one night and we were not disappointed in the menu or the service. The wine list was slightly sparse, but the only Cabernet they had was surprisingly good. Breakfast isn't served in the mornings until 9 a.m. - so if you're an early riser, plan to sleep in a bit or go for a stroll on the beach. The menu is creative and very well put together. Even breakfast consisted of three courses.
The Inn is across the street from the beach - but a very short walk will put you on the sand. This is perfect for a romantic getaway and accepting dogs on their property makes this a destination we'll return to again.
This place is amazing! Â The grounds are beautiful, the actual building is really something, and the staff were just as nice as could be. Â We arrived right around 4:30 and were immediately offered a glass of wine. Â Not a bad way to start a weekend stay :) I booked the Gauguin room for my boyfriend's coastal birthday getaway, and wow was I glad I did. Â The room had great views, a fireplace, and a good sized soaking tub. Â Talk about romantic?! Â Oh, and the bed was so comfortable! Â We had an issue with the stopper on the tub the second night, which was no big deal. Â Susie went above and beyond to remedy the situation within 10 minutes. Â In addition, she offered us champagne while we waited. Â Wow! Â Again, the staff was just awesome! Â
The 3 course breakfast that was included was delicious both days we stayed. Â The chef really has a great palate and put together interesting and well thought out flavor combinations. Â We had dinner one of the evenings we stayed that was so good we wished we'd done dinner their both nights. Â Again, their chef is extremely talented. Â
I honestly don't think I could have picked a better place. Â It was romantic, secluded yet close enough to get to surrounding beaches and towns, and completely unforgettable. Â I can't wait for us to stay here again.
this place came highly recommended on <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FBedandBreakfast.com&s=254f2d17fe0c15025e47caf515e453fa33c82cb0a67bd96065fac4d4f3cea748" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://BedandBreakfast.c…</a>. it was really nice, but in retrospect, we may have just come at the wrong time of year.
first, we stayed on a Monday evening, which is when the restaurant was closed, so we couldn't sample the culinary delights (sigh). due to some delays in our travel plans, we arrived rather late, and so had to let ourselves in and didn't even get to meet the innkeepers until the next morning.
the room, however, was GORGEOUS. we had the french countryside-themed room on the first floor. it was huge and private and had a great jacuzzi bath and gas fireplace, which we snuggled in front of for a while and talked. it also had a private porch that we sadly could not use due to it being mid-March, freezing and windy.
it was a media-free zone, which was nice - no cell reception in our room and no broadcast tv, just a little tv/vcr and with tapes you could borrow from upstairs (how low fi!).
the room was really nice, but with one minor quibble: the shower had no curtain. so as boyfriend was showering, i walked past the stall and nearly slipped on the wet tile. argh. not good.
the breakfast was simple but delicious! really good quiche and coffee. we were only one of a handful of couples staying at the Inn, so it was very quiet and peaceful.
grounds are beautiful. the building is gorgeous, inside and out. i would love to come back here in the high season, i'm sure it's much more fun.
Im going to add alittle more to my review, all still is wonderful. Suzy (*spelling?) another innkeeper was fantastic with her trailhead guidence, she knows which trails are fantastic and how to get to them, she is also good with little secret gems of the area. Â Cynthia the owner said to me this morning after i asked if i could have more of their delicious hamhock 'of course you can have anything you want,, anytime' Can you SAY WOW?! Â Great stay, i walked down to their beach, down W ocean Lane, it was gorgeous, roses and wild berries line the walk. Â i went at low tide and it was a great walk to the nearest large rock.
Review Source:(Reviewing dinner only) Wow! Â Had an AMAZING meal here, and already plotting for the next time we can go back and have the total experience by also staying at the B&B. Â $49/person is a great value for the 3 course prix fixe menu. Â We wish Chef Kaufman was working in Seattle!
My guy and I decided to share everything which made decisions a little easier. Started with wonderful soft, warm bread served with a fruity olive oil and sea salt and amuse-bouche of smoked salmon & daikon radish topped with mock caviar (soy sauce infused tapioca), or 'faux roe" per my guy. Â FIRST: 1) yummy salad of baby arugula, slices of wine poached pears, creamy fennel, toasted pecans, crumbles of cheese (maybe a vintage Stilton??) - overall it was dee-lish; 2) a light and flaky rillette (king salmon prepared and served in its own fat) served with perfect toast points and capers. Â SECOND: Â 1) fresh, handmade flat noodles tossed in a rich but light creamy mushroom sauce and SO many tender morels/shitake/portabella we couldn't believe it; 2) one of the best steaks we've every had - a filet, with the most delicious potato side - scalloped, white truffle oil, creamy, incredible. Â THIRD: Â 1) a perfect combination of fresh fruit with a grapefruit zabaglione, topped with sprinkles of a homemade granola; 2) chocolate creme brulee. Â Also had a nice bottle of Jordan cab which complemented nicely. Â
Yum, yum, yum - don't miss this gem.
I found their website by chance whilst searching for dog friendly places to stay in and around Cannon Beach. Â I fell in love with the look of their Tuscan Spa room, but it was booked solid through the summer, so I waited and made a reservation for midweek in October.
It was worth the wait. Â Although the Arch Cape Inn & Retreat is a B&B, it has the feel of a first-class hotel. Â The staff are lovely, and the ground are fantastic. Â Our room was fantastic and had plenty of space for us and the dog (it could have used a sitting/work area as there was only one chair and a low table not suitable for working), it had a massive king-sized bed, walk-in marble shower and a Finnish Sauna. Â We were provided with food and water dishes for the dog, as well as a dog bed (though we brought his dog bed with us). Â We had our own entrance, which allowed us to easily take the dog outside for potty breaks.
Room we stayed in: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.archcapeinn.com%2Ftuscanspa.html&s=4bd89a9d6f2b5e7339a1f00f63c92ee0831c8ccf6ecb8a33efb1563c5194d0b2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.archcapeinn.c…</a>
In the off-season, they have a chef on-site for breakfast, and dinner (by reservation) Thurs-Sun evenings. Â Tea is always available in the reception/seating area and there's a deli across the street if you need anything else. Â They also serve "small bites" if you want something light to eat after you check in.
Breakfast was a three-course meal with fantastic coffee and fresh orange juice. Â We had wild huckleberry scones that were absolutely delicious, bone-in ham, with eggs and polenta for our second course and we were so stuffed that we didn't partake in the "surprise" third course.
I've since recommended this place to friends and coworkers, and cannot wait to go back.
We had moved, reconsidered, moved again, and desperately needed to recharge our batteries. Â We randomly discovered the inn online. Â From the moment I made the reservations, service began. Â They inquired regarding occasion, food likes/dislikes/allergies, and arrival times. Â
 Â
The B&B itself is a beautiful chateau style building, which offers sumptuous rooms(looked even better than online pics)- that have none of the tackiness which are often associated with B&Bs. Â The grounds are spotless. Â
Our room had a tree top level bathtub built for two, and possibly the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Â 'The Tapestry Room' Â We awoke in the morning with schemes of, 'we could live here...' Â
Complimentary gourmet breakfast came with the room, and was healthy, artistic, and tasty(despite being made of things we'd normally never eat), and served to us by the chef in their simple(but elegant) country style dining area.
Â
Long story short, the Arch Cape Inn & Retreat revitalized our minds and refreshed our spirits. Â I could get married here. Â Elegance is key in a pristine natural setting. Â
Â
Yes, we did debate that it might be too good to share with you Yelpers.... but you deserve to know.
