The owner greets everyone that comes in. He also supports new business by displaying business cards. Food is good. The waitress brought my bread and soup very quickly because I had mentioned that I hadn't eaten all day. Then I had the prawns dinner and chocolate mousse for dessert, which was really good. The place is nice. Log cabin style. Maybe a little expensive but most steak-houses are.
Review Source:Really nice place, high in the mountains. Â The only reason they did not get 5 stars from me is because it seems weird, when the sign on the outside of the building says "Fine Dining", that the host that sat us was the behind the bar tender, wearing shorts and waiving us to any table.
Review Source:I wanted to like Art's more than I did. The interior is dim and rustic, sort of like the Lobo's Lounge in "Roseanne." We were seated next to a group of hunters in camo gear and baseball hats (wearing hats inside at night sort of seems the equivalent to wearing sunglasses, right?).
The entrees come with soup and salad. Several in our group ordered the clam chowder, which arrived cold. The minestrone was good, if a little heavy on the celery. My steak was average, a bit overdone but flavorful. My friend ordered the pasta and seafood, which was overdone (pasta) and underdone (seafood) all at the same time, and had to send it back. Food poisoning and long car trips don't go together well.
Were Art's located elsewhere, I would not highly recommend it, but "Outpost" is correct, and for the middle of nowhere it suffices.
This was a dinner spot for me and my grandmother on our trip.
The service was outstanding with the food just as good. I had the prime rib, Â done to my requested medium rare. You also get a pot of soup, minestrone, bread and salad with dinner. Â She just had soup and salad which I thought was a bit pricey at $8 since you get soup and salad with a dinner. So a bowl of soup and a plate of salad at $4 each. The prime rib was just the right size and I am a big eater at $20. Now get this. The owner says beef prices have come down so the prime rib is $20 bucks instead of $23....sold. Â I have never had that done before. Maybe for some locals but the out of towners usually get the shaft, so thumbs up on that one. Atmosphere is the best in town for a great dinner. Â Too bad it's up for sale. I hope the new owners keep up the quality here. They also have a full bar if you like.
We had a great meal here while visiting the in-laws for a nice long weekend. Â The service was good, really friendly gal, good suggestions. Â They serve the soup family style in a toureen, it was great. Â Salad was nice and fresh. Â I had the Rib Eye steak, cooked perfectly. Â It may have been the best meal we had while we were in the area. Â I am looking forward to going back again in the spring!
