Delicious authentic AND Tex Mex food, just like at their original restaurant in Progreso, Mexico, across the border a few miles. (Just add a few more dollars to each dish and drink.) Housed in a cute old house, Arturo's also has the REAL Mexican margaritas you just can't find in the U.S. -- fresh lime juice and tequila -- none of that sweet and sour mix. Just just ask for MEXICAN margaritas and they'll hook you up. I ate the chicken enchiladas con mole (not too spicy) Â and my husband had the crispy tacos in red shells. Yum!
Review Source:Arturo's has done a fine job of replicating its Progresso MX restaurant in a safer environment, and is on our short list of Valley favorites (We eat out a dozen times a week). The food is great (our favorites are nachos, pico de gallo, and variety of enchiladas and tacos). The service is outstanding and quite friendly. An added plus is the excelelnt live music outside on Thursday and Friday. The converted house works OK for now, but we understand they are seeking a more convenient, larger place near Hwy 83. Arturo's has to be the best restaurant in Weslaco and one of the five best in the Valley.
Review Source:Arturo's serves up some of the best food in Weslaco.
It's a quiet place in a quiet town, but don't let the location fool you, this place is beautifully decorated, well-priced, and depending upon what you order, can make a great place for dinner.
Architecturally it's set apart from the rest of town and advertised with a big sign out front. The inside is wood flooring, high ceilings, wood trip, and some warm pastel colors set Arturo's apart from a lot of the restaurants in the area.
The sides aren't great (since when do french fries and onion rings deserve to be on a Mexican joint's menu?), but some of the entrees are. If you don't care about your waistline most of these dishes will do nicely.
The chips and salsa they serve are pretty good and the guacamole is outstanding too.
