I tried to contact this venue on a couple occasions regarding arranging a birthday celebration. Nobody returned any of my calls or emails!

I like this place mostly for the outdoor patio right on the ocean. And, it has a pretty interesting decor with a couple of different "rooms", one for more of an 80's dance vibe, right by the patio, and then another with a more urban vibe where you can get your grind on.

My favorite night to go is on Thursday. DJ Wes Reed spins a great mix of current and more old skool [80's & 90's] dance tunes. He is seriously one of the best DJs in all of Jacksonville. And he knows how to get people dancing. It is always crazy when he spins, but a crazy good time! You will leave hot and sweaty and exhausted, but so happy!

They also spin music on Sunday afternoons in the summer, which is a lot of fun. You can chill by the ocean on the patio and dance and enjoy the sun.

All in all, this is a great club right on the water. Win win!

I like the fact that the Atlantic plays 80s music & you can go on the back porch and be close to the ocean. I don't like the fact that it's slippery in there & i've almost broken my ankle 30 times in there. it's also entirely too hot. hot as balls. :(

I love the fact that in Jacksonville (as compared to San Diego) when you order a 'shot', you REALLY get one.

In San Diego, a shot is a definite one ounce of beverage served in a teency shot glass.

In Jax, a shot is a MAN shot served in a rocks glass which is actually double. And strangely enough, aforementioned Jax shot is STILL cheaper than SD shot.

Aside from that, The Atlantic has undergone some cosmetic changed as well. Jacksonville is tryin to step it up!

The white room as always is my favorite. DJ was good. I cant remember his name though. I loved to see the SAME creepster drunk people that were always crawling around there two years ago still hangin out and 'dancin' like morons!

DJ Infader was playing downstairs and he is one of the best so it was a good place to pop into!

    Long live SoCo and Lime!

If I got my pick of what to do on 'the circle', I would pick the Atlantic.

The drinks are great. The bartenders are nice. You definitely get your moneys worth with the drinks, and might need to take that cab home at the end of the night.

They play a great range of music. Our favorite night to go is definitely 80s night. It brings out the best dance crowds. The dance area is a little on the small side, but it's nice the way the club is broken down with the (slightly) quieter bar area as well as the outdoor patio.

There are lines, which means people, and I welcome that when the local social scene isn't as developed as other cities.  Eye candy!  +1

I've had numerous crazy drunken conversations rife with laughter with random people.  Giggles!  +1

If you don't normally dance, choose a night when the music playing is most likely to get you on the dance floor.  Movement!  +1

And good grief.  I have had some of the most generous pours here which made for great nights out.  Slllluuuurrrrrrreeedddd wwwoooooorrrrdddsss!  +1

If The Atlantic is part of your itinerary for a night out, make sure you have a day to recover to nurse that hangover.

Lol. I think I been here way too many times last month.

The crowd is laid back. Fun, but not dressed up classy. People say its more of a frat atmosphere. Lol. They may be right. Crowd seems to average early 20's in age.

They have nights where ladies drink free. Ladies get to carry around this color-coded cup. But it's Ladies Only. So, if your dudeman or dudefriend is drinkin from your cup, be ready to be kicked out. Lucky me. I had the alcoholic date. (Yippee...) We almost got kicked out, but I was breakdancing that night, so I think my b-girl skills saved us!

As for breakdancing, keep that to a minimum; they will get on you if you do that for too long (Lol. not on me, some really good breakdancers were asked to stop after 10 minutes of breaking it down).

I think they need to make the club a tad larger, but I really like that they have an outdoor seating area. That makes it nice for when you want to lounge somewhere a bit quieter away from the music. Also, there is indoor seating as well for those that do want to enjoy the music.
