I always get horrible service when I go here. I am guessing it is because I am not a regular but that should never matter. Plus the restaurant is never full so i can never figure out what takes so long to get a drink or for them to take my order. Â Ive tried to eat here multiple times but have decided to give up. Â The food is actually good but because of the terrible service, I just can't bring myself to go.
Review Source:this place is a house of horrors. Â They should call it "The Marx Brothers Pizzeria". Â On a Friday afternoon this order had them running in circles duplicating billing and doing everything I asked them not to do: Â here is the order....I'm the only customer....everything I asked for was on the counter already cooked. Â I didnt even ask them to make anything for me. Â "What's that?" Â "a pinwheel". Â "oh could you please tell me what kind of pinwheel?" Â "pepperoni". Â Thanks. Â I'd like two pinwheels and two sausage slices not in a box in a bag please and not hot cold is just fine.
I'm telling you this set off total pandemonium of yelling for boxes not having boxes putting slices in the oven billing me again......and they were annoyed I had to repeat this simple order ten times at least and they were still bumping into one another searching for boxes for some reason. Â One apparent regular customer came in behind me and she said to me "they have to be kidding".
so for the other walkin reviews...hey if its a blizzard or a tsunami and you want to walk somewhere for pizza and a beer this is your call but there are so many fantastic places to eat in this small area where they are competent and greet the customer and make you feel welcome and pay attention to what you actually said. Â I mean I guess I would go there again in a tsunami but if the coast is clear.....they wont see me again.
The pie was average and way too salty on the sausage for my taste. Â The sauce was good. Â The crust was thin. Â The sausage generous and good quality but too salty.
good luck. Â so many great slices in this town. Â this is not worth it.
Avellino Restaurant is located near where I work, so I tried it out of convenience. Â It didn't look like a very special place; the building and grounds are in fine condition but not very attractive, so I wasn't expecting a very special culinary experience. Â I thought it would just be "another pizza place," like so many in NJ are.
I was very pleasantly surprised. Â I would describe their pizza as "well above average." Â Their "regular" pies such as plain or pepperoni were quite good. Â Not overly greasy in my opinion, and the crust was well crafted; soft at the edge and somewhat crispy underneath.
Their "specialty" pies are even better. Â They make a great bruschetta pie, a nice savory white pie with ricotta, and a brilliant buffalo chicken pie with large chunks of perfectly cooked juicy crispy chicken and a mildly spicy but very flavorful buffalo sauce.
The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I have had better pizza surprisingly, and the service is not particularly friendly.
