Our waitress was nice and knowledgeable. Â We sat upstairs which had a great atmosphere and bar. Â I could definitely see coming here for some small bites and pitchers of beer with a group of friends. Â For dinner...nope. Â My husband got steak and shrimp. Â The shrimp were good, but the steak was already sliced up in little pieces, which I thought was a little weird. Â It was So. Freaking. Salty.
What steak? Â It was salt, a pile of salt.
I got a catfish plate. Â Salty. Â Not to mention they were the thinest pieces of catfish ever, and with the breading and fried-ness, it was near impossible to taste what I wanted to.
My wife and I have eaten here quite a few times with good service. However on Father's Day we waited for someone to take our drink order and we were completely ignored. We discussed this issue with the owner and all we got were excuses, and no resolution. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed in their performance, and my family and I will not be returning customers.
Review Source:We've been to this place twice, each time with a huge group of 20-30 people after outdoor activities in the area.
Each time we've got the back room, and they managed to feed all of us within a very reasonable time.
As a starter, everyone gets peanuts - and you are supposed to throw peanut shells on the floor, which is lots of fun when you step on them.
The steaks are really tasty - it's a real find in such a remote place!
I would have never found this restaurant had I not googled for dinner options in the Blair/Altus, OK area. (On multiple review sites) this restaurant had very positive reviews, so we decided to give it a go for a Sunday evening dinner.
It's not a very large restaurant and not well marked from the street. Outside of that... it's a great find. The food, beer, and service were outstanding. They had a dinner-for-two special that was a great deal if both diners are steak fans.
There were two of us. Between us, we had a pitcher of beer, served in ice cold frosty mugs, a shared appetizer, a steak dinner, and a rib platter. All were cooked as expected and a tasty treat. Portions were generous, so we took a nice to-go plate for our very spoiled pooch.
Highly recommended! Worth a stop just to see the throwback decor.
Don't get your hopes up. Â The salad is a joke, a small bowl of iceberg lettuce with some box croutons and a tomato wedge. Â The steak was poor quality, and not evenly cooked on both sides, a local trend it seems. Â The price is low because the quality is low. Â The staff is friendly, but were fairly slow. Â They could turn out better quality meals, it would seem that quality isn't all that important, and it shows.
Review Source:FINALLY found a good steak place in SW Oklahoma. Â I thought this would be easy when I got here considering it is OK but I guess I was foolish as Old Hickory in Columbus, MS blows every other steak place here out of the water. Â Backdoor was my last hope and I was pleasantly surprised, it is well worth the half hour, or so, drive from Altus. Â I will warn that it is a little more expensive than I expected, other than that it's great!
Review Source:got the shrimp n steak yummy yummy
definitely the fattiest ribeye I ever had but I like it like that
and they have sweet potato fries!!!! really good
Blair is such a redneck town so it's really good for where it is.. but still can't hold a candle to a real restaurant
love peace chicken grease
The Backdoor has the best steak. Â No, really the best steak. Â I like a rare steak, just barely warmed on the outsides and it takes a good quality steak to enjoy rare. Â These things (even rare) are like butter, you dont even need a knife. Â
So if you find yourself in Blair Oklahoma, you have to try this place.  I think there might be one other option within 50 miles...  so if youre here and hungry you'd have a 50% chance of eating at the Backyard Buffalo  anyway.
