Bad Monkey opened up Jan 2012 in historic Sanford. I always see folks eating and drinking on their outdoor area when I drive by so I decided to stop today for lunch and a Vanilla Porter. They have a nice little menu with appetizers, soups, sandwiches and salads that they serve until 2am. Did I mention that they serve food until 2 am!!!? Its a pretty chill atmosphere that feels laid back and homey. I love that they have a big comfy couch to hang out with friends on too.
Review Source:I made the trip out to Sanford for this trendy little Coffee Shop/Bar's for the grand opening a couple of weeks ago. Â As Mary A. eluded to, the draw is definitely the beer selection . . . I believe they had something like 30 different bottled beers, everything from bud light to shipyard to golden monkey. Â They also offer a solid selection of soups, salads, and sandwiches for anyone looking for another option besides McDonald's after staggering back from a late night at the barn or whatever shin digs they have out there in Sanford. Â The inside is casual and comfortable, with plenty of couches to relax around along with a small bar. Â There is also an outside patio area that had a good amount of seating, and at least on the weekend I was there, they had a pretty good band playing out there. Â The bartender's/owner's are very friendly and the service was pretty good. Â
Unfortunately I haven't had one of their coffees so I cannot comment as to that or the atmosphere during the day, but if I ever find myself in Sanford I will definitely make a stop back by here. Â The only drawback for me was I prefer draft beer, but the selection was limited to bottles and wine. Â Also, I was approached once outside for some change by a transient and there was some guy, who I was told was a known local, banging on a drum for about 30 minutes . . . I guess it added to the fun of the night. Â Overall this coffee shop/bar provides a unique environment for people to hang out and have lunch and coffee, or just a beer. Â By the way, Wednesday night is apparently ladies night with $2 beers and $3 house wines, can't beat that!
