Bar Anticipation

Ugh. This place is the worst. I somehow manage to get dragged down here once a summer and I really don't see the draw now that my friends are a half-decade over 21. The crowd is annoying and it gets crazy crowded late into the evening. The bouncers are way too into themselves as well and a few friends have had a hard time getting in despite showing a variety of alternate credit cards, nursing and attorney credentials, and social security cards. I get they are trying to avoid drunk people, but seriously, get over yourself.

Two friends and I, (all men- 30's to 50's two black -one white all professional men) called Bar A on a the day after the 4th of July to check on the wait for dinner.  We were told there was no wait and in 5 mintutes were at the door.  We were greeted by an employee outside, obviously security, and told that begining at 8 PM a dress code was in effect and that all men had to wear sleeves on their shirts...I asked him if he could make an exception as we drove down for the day and did not have any other shirts we could wear..he could not.  I told him we were there for dinner and he said he doubted we would get a table due to the crowds...I mentioned that we were told there were plenty of tables available...but no go.  Bottom line-the place was not packed, there was no line of perople waiting to get in.  Would never go again,

Bar A has become too popular for its own good.  The place is just  become a mob house as of late.  It is a large open bar with many things to offer but as big as it is the crowds make it super difficult to enjoy my time here.  For the pros- they are always offering deals (beat the clock, dinner buffet on Fridays, Taco Tuesdays, Beat the Clock etc)  The service is hit or miss.  The bartenders have been rude to me on several occasions but others have been absolute dolls. They have made some nice updates over the years.  i especially appreciate the pool / seating are outside.
