Ugh. This place is the worst. I somehow manage to get dragged down here once a summer and I really don't see the draw now that my friends are a half-decade over 21. The crowd is annoying and it gets crazy crowded late into the evening. The bouncers are way too into themselves as well and a few friends have had a hard time getting in despite showing a variety of alternate credit cards, nursing and attorney credentials, and social security cards. I get they are trying to avoid drunk people, but seriously, get over yourself.

Two friends and I, (all men- 30's to 50's two black -one white all professional men) called Bar A on a the day after the 4th of July to check on the wait for dinner.  We were told there was no wait and in 5 mintutes were at the door.  We were greeted by an employee outside, obviously security, and told that begining at 8 PM a dress code was in effect and that all men had to wear sleeves on their shirts...I asked him if he could make an exception as we drove down for the day and did not have any other shirts we could wear..he could not.  I told him we were there for dinner and he said he doubted we would get a table due to the crowds...I mentioned that we were told there were plenty of tables available...but no go.  Bottom line-the place was not packed, there was no line of perople waiting to get in.  Would never go again,

Bar A has become too popular for its own good.  The place is just  become a mob house as of late.  It is a large open bar with many things to offer but as big as it is the crowds make it super difficult to enjoy my time here.  For the pros- they are always offering deals (beat the clock, dinner buffet on Fridays, Taco Tuesdays, Beat the Clock etc)  The service is hit or miss.  The bartenders have been rude to me on several occasions but others have been absolute dolls. They have made some nice updates over the years.  i especially appreciate the pool / seating are outside.

I'm 27 and just came here for the first time last night. $10 to get in on a Tuesday night seems odd but then my brother told me that it was like $1 beers....beat the clock or something where prices go up hourly. The "beers" are 8oz so you definitely need to order more than one at a time. It was common to see people ordering 10 at a time as we did. They do pour a ton of beers ahead of time knowing they will be sold so you might get a couple warm ones or you might get some fresh poured cold ones....that's kinda lame but I see why they do it at the rate they sell them. Oh yeah it's all Miller Lite...meh.
The place is huge. They actually do a good job of keeping the inside cold, but the people I was with were only wanted to be in one place....the far back outside bar. I did not understand why the hell it was taking us like 15 minutes to get to the bar they wanted to go to. By the time we got there I could have just waited at an other bar. They insisted the bar we were going to had the fastest service and I must say we did get our first couple of rounds quick......and this is where the review ends as I remember almost nothing after that.

So I went for the first time the other night and I had fun!
I  mean, look, it's a bar, down the shore, in NJ so what do you expect? The $10 cover blows but there are a lot of perks: TONS of space, lots of outdoor areas, different music in the different sections and the drinks are super affordable. Everyone is there to have a good time and, yes, it's crowded but some areas less than others.
People are just having fun, it will be loud, and a bit crazy, but I think it's something worth experiencing.

Bar A might be fun. Bar A might suck. Bar A might be crowded. Bar A might be spacious. All this and more might be true, but one thing's for certain.....

THE MANAGEMENT OF THIS PLACE IS T.H.E. W.O.R.S.T.
The amount of expletives I'd like to use might lead this review to be filtered out. So instead I will tell you what happened and I think you'll understand...

Friend A, friend B, and I (all of us years past the age of 21) showed up ready to have a good time. Friend A gets in no problem. I get in no problem. Friend B is told she needs a backup because her ID is a duplicate. Turns out a credit card and debit card in the same name isn't enough to prove she is who she says she is-- photo ID only. Oh, so a college ID from years ago works better than a functioning credit card? Okay, you unreasonable a-holes, fine. Myself and Friend A demand our cover back and hopped in a cab to pick up a second photo ID for Friend B. So here we are again, 25 minutes later. Friend A, again, gets in no problem. Friend B gets in with her outdated "back up". And I get denied...

--"Excuse me, [douche bag], I was just here 20 minutes ago and got in no problem. What's the deal?"
--"Oh, well your ID is a duplicate."
--"I was here 20 minutes ago..." And yes my ID is a duplicate. I've gotten my wallet stolen before, how is that any business of yours?? "Excuse me, bouncer who let me in 20 minutes ago, can you tell this guy I'm good to go??"
--"Well if he found something I missed, that's just how it goes"

Oh, so you're all just a bunch of mindless jerks?? Okay, I get it.

At this point hopping in a cab and coming back to this place AGAIN with another form of picture ID, my birth certificate, my SS card, and the President's seal of approval is NOT happening. What's more likely is for me to come with torches and tear the place to shreds.

I decide to compose myself for a second and speak to the manager. I look him in the eyes and tell him that I understand he deals with a bunch of drunk idiots on the regular, and I understand that he's running a business here, but can he for a minutes listen to me as a human being? Can he understand that I just cabbed there, cabbed back to our room, and cabbed back to the bar only to be told I can't get in? At this point I've lost interest in even going inside, but sir, can you just acknowledge the absurdity of this situation here?! Nope. Nothing. I was clearly making him uncomfortable, trying to appeal to his human side, because he could barely maintain eye contact for more than a second. My last plea went as follows...

--"If I approached those officers and had them scan my ID, would you understand that this is a legitimate government-issued piece of identification?"
--"I don't give a f__k what those officers say. This is a private establishment and we can do what we want."

Ohhhhhh oookayyyy, so you really are a raging douche bag? Nice to meet you too.

Like the place but can not believe my 25 year old friend had such a hard time getting in! BEWARE anyone 25 or under must have 2 photo IDs. Then when in side BUD the bartender was a complete p@&*( waving his hand, "like hurry up" when there was absolutely no one else ordering. My friends and I were shocked!  Thank goodness the rest of the place made up for these short falls! Bring your IDs and Patience and you might have a good time.

If you want to be treated like crap definitely go to Bar A. Whether you are entering the bar for a night out with friends or grabbing lunch in the middle of the afternoon, the rude staff never fails! Oh and make sure you bring your passport, your birth certificate, your license, your college ID from 5 years ago, your work ID, and your most recent yearbook picture or the only thing you can "anticipate" about this place is not getting in.

    Best bar in New Jersey!

Bar A is worth the hour drive for a night of fun with friends in the winter or a walk down the street in the summer.

Bar A is HUGE with so much fun to offer.  The deals are great, the staff is nice... it is your perfect Jersey Shore bar!

Bar A has a HUGE selection of meals.  We usually go for  a Saturday lunch and I have always liked my meal.

Now drinks is where Bar A has the best deals.  Usually every night there is a special of $2.50 beer (usually a certain type) and a special on hard liquor.

Tuesdays are the big special night at Bar A called Beat the Clock.  At 8 pm beers are .50 and then at 9pm they are .75 and then 10pm they are a $1 and so on.  It is SUCH a fun night, but gets crowded so get there early!

Landmark bar at the Jersey Shore.

Place is enormous. 5-6 different sections to the bar.

Dance club, tiki bar, vip tents, back bar, inside pub & side bar.

This place is for primarily for college kids & losers who wished they were still in school.

Long ass line to get in. Usually 10-15 minutes but actually moves.

Another line to get a drink & then a 20 minute line to go to the bathroom.

Place is literally shoulder to shoulder.

Bright side is tons of hot little piss drunk blonde girls & slamming bartenders.

Regardless of this fact, place is literally swarmed with dudes in tank tops.

This is the bar where you get too wasted, lose where all your friends are , & can't get a cab home because it's too chaotic.

Basically fun if you just turned 21 & have never been to a bar before.

Surely the destination for picking up completely obliterated girls & one night stands.

We had a blast at "St. Patty's Day Headquarters" the day of the St. Pat's parade.
This place is huge, one of the staff members pulled us out of the long line at the front entrance and brought us to a back entrance where we walked right in.  He also took a few moments to let us know where the food and porta-johns were.  Bar A had bars, drinks and people everywhere.  You hardly had to wait before the bartender was there ready to take your order.  We took a tour and were amazed at the size of the property.  Beers were $4 for a 10oz miller light or $6.25 for a miller 20 oz bottle.  We are looking forward to coming back in the summer.

Hands Down...The best Bar in the Jersey Shore area.  You will be impressed by the food and the service is great but what sets this bar aside the rest is the atmosphere and energy(hard to explain), not pretentious, laid back, casual, classic relaxed shore vibe. When you go to Bar-A (as it's known by locals) you simply find it hard to leave. Always something different going on.

Probably my favorite bar/club in Jersey.  It's so much fun and has such a cool environment.  It's also huge and they usually have a cool local band playing whatever songs are popular at the moment plus a bunch of 90s stuff.

The shot wheel is also really fun, albeit risky since there are some very undesirable shots on there.

Make sure you have at least two forms of ID because they are very strict about it.  The best night to go is Tuesday for Beat the Clock, with really cheap beers.  But I'm not personally a beer drinker and their mixed drinks are weak and expensive for a Jersey bar.

It's really just a great place to dance and hang out with friends and a lot less trashy than similar shore places.

UNST UNST UNST, BASS, BASS, BASS!!!

    Yeahhhh buddddy!!!

This is what you'll likely hear throughout the night but do not fear my friends.

Despite the rowdy crowd and everything you'd expect form the Jersey Shore, this place is a pretty good summer spot to kick a few back in great weather.

Yes, that includes Avatar-esque tans, lots of fake boobs, and random craziness.

No matter the peeves though there's likewise the super sexy crowd that enjoys endless dancing and frolicking over cheap domestic beer for hours on end, and that my friends is always a good reason to come out to Bar A.

I used to party here since I was old enough to drink, and had a hell of a time. Over the years, as you get older, so does that whole scene.  It just doesn't appeal to me anymore.  There is an exception though. Sundays in the summertime for all you can eat snow crabs!!!  Absent are the droves of sloppy drunk 21 year olds that you see on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday nights.  It's actually kinda mellow with a more mature clientele.  Don't get me wrong, there are still young people, but they seem more chill.  We usually grab a table outside, order some drinks and order the AYCE snow crabs for $28.  The crabs are very big and perfectly steamed.  Best of all, they keep coming until you say "no more."  They come with a small pasta salad, drawn butter, lemon and a cracker to break open the crabs.  Whats not to love about a ton of crabs and a bunch of cold ones on a nice summer day.

I would give this place negative 5 stars if I could. The friends I was visiting warned me that this place sucks, and that they were the worst with their door policy. I figured I'd be fine since I had 2 forms of ID. Wrong. Denied entry even though I had a driver's license AND Bank of America issued debit card WITH security photo. The bouncer stared at my identification for awhile, stupidly and rudely, and told me he could not possibly allow me entrance because I had a "duplicate 3 CT license."

    "You've had 4 licenses?"

"I don't know, and I'm not really here to be judged. I've had this one issued since '03, and I've lost a couple over the last decade or so, so I guess that sounds about right."

    "I can't let you in."

"Why don't you just scan it?"

"We don't have a scanner. I'd have to ask my boss... I can't just let you in"

No thank you. I would prefer to never EVER give this establishment one red cent of my money.

Let me get this straight, Bar A. You are a HUGE shore bar, filled to the brim at least 3 nights a week (Tues, Fri, Sat), making considerable profits, and paying seven, I repeat SEVEN people to check IDs (and presumably mull over each person's documents for 5 minutes only to deny many of them entry), and you can't afford ONE SCANNER FOR IDs? Is this an unfunny joke I am not in on?

I can understand if a young looking girl rolls in with a duplicate #3 ID where the picture looks nothing like her. But here, you have a 26 year old girl (who does not in the least bit look under 21) coming in with a bunch of other late-twenties friends, who carries multiple forms of identification, including 2 credit cards (one with a PICTURE) and a scanable driver's license, which CLEARLY pictures the girl standing in front of you, and you're STILL denying entry? Get a clue.

This door policy makes no sense whatsoever. As a lawyer (and hilariously, my ID is legit enough for the NY state bar - go figure!), I cannot possibly fathom a reason why they think this is their sole option of avoiding the liability of letting under-aged kids in. Just buy some ID scanners, fire at least half of the slow, power-hungry ID-checkers at the door, and train the others to simply study the faces of those on the IDs in comparison with the people standing in front of them.

    It's. Not. That. Difficult.

Anyway, in the end I was happy to take my business elsewhere, and I actually thought their nonsensical door policy likely saved me from spending a $10 cover on this terrible place. And for that, I'm thankful.

Even if you're responsible enough to have never lost your license, I would recommend avoiding this place at all costs.

you can board an airplane, but you can't enter bar a.

i actually used to like bar a. beat the clock is great for getting wasted cheap, early and fast, and they usually have pretty great cover bands.

earlier this week, a group of 10+ of us went out for beat the clock. before that night, i have never gone to a bar and seen someone denied access with a VALID US PASSPORT. that's just insane.

there are plenty of places down the shore where you don't have to deal with dick bouncers just to have a good time.

If I could give no stars, I would.  After having schlepped to the shore, I was keen to partake in a jersey night out. After standing in line and having the bouncer check my out-of-state ID for 5 min, I was let through. My friend, also from out-of-state, was not so lucky. They asked her for a backup, and she ha her credit card...but because she didn't have a photo on it, she wasn't allowed in. There are fake NJ licenses floating around, and these underage kids are not asked for backup. I understand having a backup ID, but if you are going to enforce it, you should have everyone pull out a backup.

A lot of these reviews seem to be angry people because they were denied entry. Three years running I've had countless friends denied entry either because their photo is dated or because they do not have enough forms of identification. Make sure you have at least 2 forms of photo identification on you that are current! Don't make the same mistake a lot of other yelp reviewers have.
This is a very large and spacious bar, especially in the summer time, located off one of the main roads of Belmar but still at least a mile off from the beach itself. I've seen this bar change over the years, it has definitely improved significantly with the addition of the grotto and the cabana area. Most nights it is not too busy except for major holidays, so you don't usually get that crowded feeling unless you go to one of the areas that are more crowded. There are three bathroom areas scattered around the bar yet people always seem to go to the same one outside near the VIP area, ladies if theres a long line try the other two bathroom areas.
Usually the summertime is when the outdoors area opens, which is when you get the full Bar A experience. They show the games and have drink specials throughout the week, with the biggest night definitely on Tuesday, followed by Saturday. I like the multifaceted music vibe you get here, each area of the bar tends to play different music, live DJ playing house music usually at the back area of the outdoors while you have live bands playing alternative type music indoors at the main stage or top 40 blasting on the speakers. The novelty with Tuesdays is their Beat the Clock special, at time of writing Miller drafts start at 50 cents a cup and go up a quarter every hour. Cover charge starts at 8pm, as well as beat the clock itself, which at the time of writing is $10. If you get there early enough you can also get free fajitas from a guy that walks around with a cart. I love how early everyone drinks here, the crowd is vibrant early in the night and is good for people like me who have to wake up early for work the next day.
The drinks here are usually moderately priced, the specials are really good but the standard drink prices aren't set so they vary depending on which bar you go to on the weekends (either the owner doesn't set a price or the bartenders are pocketing the extra cash, I'm not sure.) There are shot wheels, a pool grotto, live bands, dance floor, misters, cabanas, TVs, shot girls, sand, and volleyball courts. One of a kind for a bar like this in the New Jersey area.
The food here is underrated. Absolutely amazing! Not only do they have a very delicious menu (the burgers are my favorite) but they once in a while do random events such as free bbqs, meat carvings, or seafood offering specials on the weekends.

The best part are the serious lack of duschy guidos here.

Highly recommend at least to try once, then to decide for yourself if you are a fan. Remember to bring identification!

The one and only time I came here was for Beat the Clock on the Tuesday night before the Fourth of July and I had an absolute blast. The only reason I deducted one star is because of the overcrowdedness, but I have to assume it was mainly because of the holiday on Wednesday (although I can imagine it being very crowded all the time). There were times when I could barely move and I just felt super claustrophobic.

Like I said though, I had an amazing time regardless of the people breathing down my back from time to time. Beat the Clock starts at 8pm, but we got there earlier (and beat the cover)... there were specials for $2 bottled beers, which is great. Then, Beat the Clock started at 8pm.. you honestly can't beat $0.50 beers. Even when the price increases every hour until midnight, you're still paying next to nothing for each beer you buy.

I love that Bar A is outside... that automatically makes me love it. It's huge and there's bars everywhere. There's places if you just feeling like standing around, but there's also an inside area that plays bumpin' tunes (mini dance floor included). The inside area tended to a little less crowded so we sought our refuge there when we couldn't handle the crowd. Overall, we split our time fairly evenly between the different bars, which was nice... I liked switching things up throughout the night.

If you find yourself in Belmar on a Tuesday night and you have nothing to do the next day, I highly suggest Bar A. Seems like a cool place to go on other nights as well.

    this place is awesome if:
-you are 21-22 and are just discovering the art of getting drunk (i will admit, i liked this place for about 3 months in 2005/2006 but it got real old real quick)
-you want to fight someone and/or have a one-night stand at a beach house shared amongst 15 people
    -have no standards
-have 2 forms of ID on you
-enjoy being hassled by security for no reason (seriously, my best experience getting into bar A is about par with my worst experience at airport security)
-are ok with paying a cover in exchange for a low quality experience.

I could go on forever, but the point is, i greatly dislike bar a.  the staff generally is miserable, the place is obscenely crowded and pretty dirty, and the crowd is highly irritating- i don't even think the jersey shore cast would hang out here.

The space has serious potential- it's huge, has a dance floor, and a pretty good outdoor space with lounge chairs.  they also have good specials.  i think the bar would be good if located in a different city and frequented by a different, more diverse group of people.

If my review has not deterred you from going, some important notes:
-do NOT attempt to get in with a fake ID...it will not happen and you WILL go to jail!!!! (i've seen it happen multiple times there).
-don't cross the train tracks on foot unless on a pedestrian path.  not only because it's the safer thing to do, but because they have NJ Transit cops that give tickets for it. it's apparently illegal
-don't wear heels...you will fall in the sand, wedges or flats are best :)
    -get there early.

No.  Would not return, would not recommend.  The only "anticipating" you'll be doing at Bar A is the moment when you and all your friends decide to leave because you'd rather sit outside and breathe second-hand smoke than stay inside the place where the cover band is terrible and the music they play is unrecognizably bad.
Drinks are fine and prices aren't bad for Jersey, but that's not a reason to come to a place like this.  Crowded, loud, dirty, full of older heterosexual predator guys who leer.  Sounds like a normal bar, yes, but this is 10 times worse.  The crowd is sloppy - I have never had a beer spilled on before in all the times I've gone out (even at college frat parties), and on the night I was here, it happened five times, including one guy whose drink started to spill on me, and so he just let go of the cup, allowing the remainder to drench my legs and feet - and the guys are creeps and jerks.  This is the kind of place where if you tell a guy you don't want to dance, he'll call you an "ignorant bitch" or ask you if you think you're too good for him.  And I know this is supposed to be a review about the place, not the clientele, but going out is all about atmosphere and environment, and this is not the kind of environment that I enjoy.

I'd kill myself if I was sober at this bar.

that being said, if you get a really good buzz, and don't care about wanna-be beefcakes trying to convince you to take them home with you (because they probably live with their mommies), this is the spot for you.

But - I know you, Bar-A.  I went to you when I was in the Hamptons (see - Talkhouse) and I have one of you in my humble little beach town (see - The Inn), and I LOVE going to you (caveat - when I'm IN my humble little beach town.  Where I know the bouncers and bartenders and locals).  I bet if you took the cats that come here all the time, and dropped them in my hood, they'd either not know the difference, or spend the afternoon scoffing at how their shore bar beats out my beach bar.  Similar to what I was doing.

Far be it from me to insult anyone, but even through my vodka enduced vision, I saw an abundance of OLD dudes trying to scoop up young chickie birds (gross and being successful - raise your standards jersey girls) and YOUNG dudes trying to kick it to my friends and I (eh, that kind of goes without sayin though, we're hot).  Oh!  I liked the band.  But I almost always like the band.  And I liked that the person giving out glow bracelot things was wearing a velour suit (WHAT the f*ck) and had mutton chops and Elvis hair.  And the bouncers were nice.  To me.  But bouncers are always nice to me.

I bet they have good wings, and I bet their sunday fundays are good.  Would I come back here?

step one: get me back down the shore first.  You get that done, sure I'll come back.  Good Luck.

Duplicate Ids need not apply. I'm 25 years old and was denied entrance because I have a duplicate ID from moving back to the state. After having to kiss the bouncers butt I finally got in and it didn't get any better. The drinks are expensive and the  people are all drunken messes.

Quintessential Jersey Shore hangout. If you're here, you've got to at least pop in to see what all the buzz is about! Honestly, it is not my type of place but all my friends go, peer pressure, yadda-yadda.

Bar A is a giant compound with four or five large bars, tables and chairs, a brand new grotto set next do a sandy oasis with cabanas. Cabanas run for 500 dollars per night and include one bottle of liquor. Each additional bottle is extra. This is GREAT if you're coming with a large group of friends for a special occasion because in the end, it may work out to be cheaper than buying drinks PLUS you get your own private and, fine, I admit it... kind of COOL space.

Reasonably priced drinks and the "famous" Tuesday 'beat the clock' (no cover before 8pm and 50 cent beers that increase in price every hour) make this place a very popular spot in Belmar, NJ. They do serve food, most notably a large selection of creative but mediocre tasting burgers. It's not a bad bet if you don't want to venture out.

Dress code is beachy-casual although many girls show up in their Bebe miniskirts, strappy Payless stilettos and faux-gold hoochie hoops. I like to arrive early to observe what I refer to as the "Parade of Skanks." It's better (and more cost effective) than visiting a zoo.

    I have a love/hate relationship with Bar A

Love that the place is huge.  Need a break from a certain person that is at the place same time as you?  There are about 5 different places to hide from them in plain sight.  The size also kinda helps me justify the sometimes ridiculous cover charge because its like multiples places in one place, for one cover price.

Hate four dollars for a Miller Lite.  $3.25 is the most I should have to pay for that crappy beer.  Make sure to find out what the drink special of the night is otherwise you are paying too much.

Love local nights because the crowd isn't a freakshow (like summer weekends) of the over-roided.  Also less guidos=nicer employees.  Bouncers can be nice when 90% of the people aren't acting like raging a-holes.

Hate: Having to remember to bring 2 IDs.  Its a bar, not the airport.

Love the free shuttle back to your house.  Just make sure to tip.

I think I also might love the new grotto thing I saw the other night.  It wasn't fully open, but the waterfall shooting fire and the dancefloor in the middle of the "beach" really sets it apart from elsewhere.  The cabanas are really nice too.  Since the area wasn't officially open anyone could hang out in them at the time and I did.  Comfy seating with a TV in each one.  I'd be more excited if I wasn't sure once the area is fully open they are gonna charge you out of your a** to sit in them.  But overall its nice to have something that looks like it belongs at the TI in Vegas that's close to home.

I could write forever about this place, but I will keep it amazingly short.

-Like my fellow yelpers have said, THIS PLACE IS HUGE!
HUGE = GOOD. More space and less cramping (even though it gets pretty packed in there.
    -Shot wheel...get at it
    -Biggest bar in NJ
    -Multiple bars
    -Live cover band/DJ

    Bottom Line:
A must if you're from NJ or go DTS in the summers. If it's full and not your scene, head around the corner to Boathouse for a smaller more cramped spot haha.

PS Only bar I am willing to pay cover for.

Love love love love love Bar A on most nights.

First things first, it's HUUUUUGE. I think there's somewhere in the realm of 10 bars in here? There's an indoor and outdoor area, as well as a sand-covered grotto beach with lounge chairs and a volleyball net. There's a couple shot wheels (which serve as a great meeting spot) and an indoor area with a dancefloor.

Tuesdays get wild, since it's beat the clock. Beers start at a quarter and increase every hour by a quarter. They have make-shift kegs out of beer coolers, which is pretty cool.

The line gets stupid. The bouncers are hard about ID's sometimes...usually requiring 2 kinds. Cover can be upwards of $20 on a busy night.

This place gets CROWDED as anything, so seriously come early. It is open year-round, which gives it the advantage over a lot of other places in Belmar. In the winter, it's very local, so conduct yourself accordingly. During the summer..it's totally different. It's not as "guido fist pumping" as say, DJais, but definitely a lot of big guys and scantily clad chicks.

Post-MDW, you can find me here :)

This place is HUGE... I didnt even see the entire place when I went. Lots of rooms, outdoor areas, and supposedly even a sand area.

The DJing was your typical top40 bar/club music, there was lots of dancing though which made it more fun. The line to get in can be long and annoying though... and it can be rather expensive too.

Pretty much what I expected my experience would be like on the Jersey shore.

One of everyone's all-time favorite shore area establishments, Bar "A", recently upgraded its back bar. There is a small stage, and several small satellite bars. The new renovations are pretty solid.  This place knows no rivals but there are plenty of wanna bees.

Bar "A" is a huge space, with plenty of small televisions covering various college football games throughout the day, and major league games at night. The outdoor seating area is superior - this area has hosted an annual barbecue there in the summer to benefit area firefighters and the families of the Sept 11 heroes. This is a five star organization.

This place is decent for a low key night on a good summer evening. It's HUGE. It has an indoor outdoor setting and the outdoor is ginormous!

You'll wait on line a good 15 or so minutes because the bouncers are hardcore and grilling everyone. DO NOT come to this place without 2 forms of ID. Unless you look 50 they will most likely turn you away if you just have your license with you. Bring a passport if you can... I'm being serious... they don't play here. Which is hilarious because its just some Jersey bar lol

After you get in, you will most likely be paying $5 to $10 in cover and then it opens up. You walk into a huge outdoor open area that has 2 outdoor bars and tons of tables and chairs. Bathrooms are on your right. If you walk straight back across this board walk kind of thing there are 2 more bars in tents with 2 different kinds of music being played in there.

Starting back from the entrance, if you don't keep walking straight back and go left up to the deck instead, you will find another bar on the enclosed deck, the actual inside to the place is on the left of the deck bar and inside are 2 more bars on the first floor and another bar on the 2nd floor. This is where the live bands play and the air conditioning is. Which is good to know for crazy hot nights lol

Starting back from the entrance again lol, ok walking up to the left, on the deck and keep going straight there is a whole outdoor deck back there where you can get food and more alcohol. There are another 2 outdoor bars back there and the bar closest to the corner has a shot wheel lol The bartender spins it every couple of minutes and everyone gets a shot if whatever it lands on. You have to pay for it of course but it gets really crazy over there!

The dress is casual/dressy. Its a very yuppy kind of crowd but girls come all decked out anyway. It's really is a khaki and flip flops kind of place. Drinks are usually strong and in decent sized cups. Average price per drink is $6 for beer and $8 for a cocktail. I believe this place is open until 3 am but don't quote me on it.

Toward the end of the night, there is a constant flow of parked taxi's in the parking lot near the entrance to take you wherever you have to go. A lot of people rent shore houses in this area and just walk home but word to the wise, Cops LOVE hanging out at this bar near closing time and will bust you for being drunk in public especially trying to drive.

Belmar and the Jersey Shore period don't play. They only have 3 months of the  year to meet their quotas and boy do they! So don't be that fool who gets caught and donate money to their cause! lol

Oh and 1 more thing... got stuck here for Happy Hour once on a Friday and I wanted to kill myself. Normally this place is crawling with young people and a mix of current dance, hip hop and pop music. However during Happy Hour IT IS NOT! Its an older crowd, average age was 40 no joke. And its some throw back hippy  60's and 70's music that is being played.

Listen, I love the Beatles, Stones and all that but when I'm trying to get a buzz on especially on a Friday that's the LAST thing I want to be listening to. My friends and I seriously had to put our IPODS in our ears to try to not kill the mood. Needless to say it didn't work and we wound up leaving within a very short amount of time. I have gone to this place more times then I can imagine and the happy hour thing really ruined this place for me. I haven't been back since.  I highly suggest staying away from this place between 3 and 8 pm unless your into that kind of music/crowd.

Bar -A,  the quintessential Jersey Shore bar experience.  A dozen bars including inside and outside, a bevy of good looking chicks, great happy hour food, free giveaways, beach volleyball in the sand, loud music and cheap beer.  Oh and did I mention in the shell peanuts a plenty so you can really make a mess.

What more can you ask for - you gotta try this place at least once in your lifetime.

    Anticipate this:
    A. Lots of outdoor space and huge multiple bars, which is a plus when around 2,000 scantily-clad beach-goers arrive
    B. Daytime drinking, ahem, binge drinking while attempting to play volleyball (yep, sand volleyball court within premises)
    C. Always college specials on tap...there's like an 'alumni day' for different colleges throughout the summer
    D. Tons of people to mingle with, some savory and some...just dirty (that's a compliment)
    E. A mini club (with a mini dance floor and a DJ) whose composition is much different from the crowd at the outside bars
    F. Free buffet (and I do mean buffet) at happy hour...like lots of options, not just wings and pasta

I will hit again so I can piss off the locals for the 6th consecutive summer.

I have been here twice and both times I came via party bus. Bar A is pretty big which is nice but it can sometimes get crowded and finding a seat can be a hassle. However, the I never had to wait  for an obscene amount of time to order a drink. The drinks are priced ok but I usually play the shot wheel.

The music varies, and the dance floor is packed to the point all you can do is really sway back and forth like the drunk people next to you. The guido and creeper crowds are always there like any other place in NJ. The last time I went, I don't remember seeing many girls except for the ones who were drunk dancing on the platform like hot messes.

This probably would be a good local place, but unless you have a "party posse" this place could be the worst.

I bet no one even reads this because who the hell really knows what the A even stands for.Tuesday nites at Bar A, are the best, its an event called beat the cock, given the large number of males present for the cheap beer, it attracts a large college crowd of mostly northerners (few shore rats thankfully.) Perhaps my favorite scene on the shore actually. As long as people from staten island and Lodi dont disgust you this is a great place to find some cheap drinks and cheaper girls.
    Cheers!

Bar A is a great place to hang out and relax with friends. Bar A was one of the first places i went to in Belmar. They have a huge outdoor bar with lots of space to walk around as well as sand for beach parties and volleyball playing.  The inside of the bar isn't that big but they have a stage where bands or dj's usually play and room to dance.
If you get a VIP pass you never have to wait on line as well as  have access to the VIP lounge outside where they have tables, couches and waitress service.During the day they serve food as well as dinner. The food is pretty good and give big portions. The bartenders and staff are really nice.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I don't want to ramble about how terrible this place is, but I will say this:

If you're familiar with the frat-bars of the Upper East Side of Manhattan, this bar puts them to shame, making them look like an Ivy-League Tea Party.

    Enough said.

This bar is Jersey in a nutshell.  Loud music, constant fighting, tiny tshirts on guys, and chicks that love "sweet caroline".  The place is huge, but you will always be bumping into someone.  The bouncers are all assholes, but so is 95%  of the people who go there, so they fit right in.  If you want punch Vinny in the face for staring at your girlfriend...the Police are always outside waiting to take you to Jail.

Everything being said, I grew up at this bar.  Tuesday nights are still going strong (esp in the summer) and while not the cheapest place to go, you will always have fun people watching.  The outside can be comfortable if you get there early enough to find a seat (and not have it taken when you get up to piss).  The live music is very hit or miss.

If you have never been to Jersey...check it out and then go to DJais for some blow off a skank's stomach.
