I only ventured into Bart's because my co-workers & I were always looking for a local bar to grab a beer on Friday after a long week.
When I first saw it, I told myself I would never go in there, due to it being a hole in the wall in an industrial complex.
But we happened to go in and I was surprised, it is much bigger on the inside, a bunch of pool tables, darts, games. They also serve pretty good food and the manager & bartender are both very friendly.
It's a good place for football too with their big screens all around.
Wish they had slightly better prices, but I can't really complain.
My BIGGEST beef with this place is that music is ONLY playing when someone PAYS for music. I wish there were some sort of background music going (at least the times i'm there).
The two main reasons why my friends and I come here are that our awesome friend Lavonne is the bartender there and we visit her almost every Tuesday, second reason is that it is very close to home.
The atmosphere is alright. It has plenty of pool tables and since I love to shoot pool with my friends, it's a nice hang out place for us. They also serve food but I have not been there during their serving hours. After hours, they do have Digiorno pizza for about $10. I use to hate the fact that it was a beer and wine only bar but there are plenty of female friendly drinks there. I prefer pear cider. It's yummy! =) The prices or ok, a bit pricey for certain beers though. If it wasn't for Lavonne working there, we'd probably wouldn't go there as often.
Wandered in here one night after years of curiosity about this neighborhood bar...the first thing I thought was "weird atmosphere, reminds me of an office turned cheap bar."
There was a man waxing his truck in the parking lot and an eclectic mix of young, wasted kids inside.
Tried to order a Whiskey Sour...didn't realize that this pub was "wine and beer only." Â BUMMER.
Forced to order a beer, but their on tap selection was extremely disappointing.
The DJ was weird, the tiny bar in the middle of the place was weird, and the vending machine with chips was weird too (although tempting if you're drunk, I guess).
Not my favorite place...hell, it doesn't even make my top 50.
What a strange experience.
I always drive by this place and decided to venture in at lunch for a sandwich after my drive-by at the atm across the street cuz the sign does say "Deli."
At first I was a little skeptical cuz no one was at the counter, had to ring the desk bell. Â There were a few peeps at the bar, and then a lady came over pretty quickly. Â Put in my order for a turkey sandwich . . . still skeptical as she took everything out of the frig to prepare it, was wondering how fresh everything was. Â I stood there looking around, yup, pretty much fits the definition of a dive bar; pool tables, dart boards, juke box.
I took it to-go and when I opened the box I was pleasantly surprised! Â A pretty stacked turkey sandwich with a lot of thinly sliced, fresh turkey, lettuce, tomato and onion on toasted rye as I requested! Â And there were a ton of fries! Â Didn't expect fries but that was cool. Â
So, the fries and turkey sandwich were pretty good, wasn't disappointed at all.
Biggest plus? Close to home. Bart's is a HS reunion almost every night, if you went to Pacifica HS just down the street. Never anything too exciting or too dull happens here. This is where you go after a difficult day too cool down.
Beer is cheap and the selection, plentiful. Just don't overdo it with the Budweiser Wheat-you'll hate yourself the entire next day. There's plenty of seating at the bar and at tables scattered throughout the large building Bart's is hosed in.
Pool Tables aplenty!! Pool tournaments seem to be going on every other night. Yet, it's usually never an issue finding a table.
Also, if you are planning on having more than a couple beers, park around back in between the two adjacent office buildings, away from view of Knott Ave. The police don't usually come around, but if they do, you'll be safer going out the back way and down the streets of the industrial complex to get home.
Pretty damn decent place for a non-descript looking corner of a funky business park on the border of Stanton/Garden Grove. Â Who would have thought there would be a bar in here? Must be convenient for the working stiffs in here, come quitting time! Â Mr. Z had been here once before with a friend and found it decent as well. Â Very reasonable prices on the beer and chill atmosphere, locals and no pretense. Â Felt pretty comfy here having a few brews although no frills. Â Pool tourneys. Â If you look the wrong way at the intersection of Knott & Orangewood, you'll miss it. Â Plenty of parking after hours when the business parkians flee the workplace (unless they take advantage, and stay here - I would).
Review Source:i go here one day a week and that's enough by me. that day being thursday when their polish sausage sandwich with chips combo is only 3.95. the food is cheap and pretty good for the price. i've only had blue moon here. i love the big old mug for $9. i guess prices are reasonable.
they just got one new pool table. the other three are in good condition. and to play i think it's only 50 or 75. cheap.
what i like about this place, is it's old school feel. they ain't got no flatscreen bs, or crazy lighting, it's just chill.
i've not been to the bathroom. so yeah.
You wouldn't catch me painting the town in Garden Grove, but my friend's bf's band, Shiner, was playing here last night and I really just wanted to go hear them play.
Bart's is the neighborhood strip mall pub that only serves beer and wine but they also had $2 Jell-O shots in various flavors made with vodka. Â I might have thrown down to play pool, but I didn't want to show up the suburban sharks ; )
Fatty and I put away 2 pitchers of Fat Tire as we listened to the band which was kick ass, but the place pretty much cleared out once they were done. Â I would only return here to support the band, other than that, I'm sure it does it's job as the local pool hall/beer joint.
4 bar pool tables (50 cents per game!). Â #1 has bad rolls. Â beer, wine, & sparks, bartender washed & wiped the top of my soda can, free wireless, golden tee, arcade games, touchtunes jukebox, darts, Sunday 8-ball tournament starts at 9pm, great people, action, plenty of parking, clean women's restroom (2 toilet paper roll holders).
Review Source:Me and some friends came here on a Friday night to play some pool and have some beers...we didn't end up staying very long. The place had a good amount of people in it, unfortunately most of them were obnoxious as hell. Some of the people were even downright rude. I'm told the place is better on a weekday...especially Thursday since they have a pool league or tournament, but I haven't had a chance to go back. I definitely wouldn't go back on the weekend though.
Review Source:I wasn't too impressed with this place at first.
My roomate and I were in search of the perfect local bar --- good bars are in short supply in Garden Grove.
We headed down on a Friday night, ordered some beers and started to play pool. At first everything was cool, then the bar started to get a little crowded and people at one table were kind of rude because we were playing pool at the table they wanted to use even though there was another open one!!
But LATER I went on aThursday night to grab a beer and had a much better experience. There was a good mix of young and old people and everyone was really friendly -- a few people even introduced themselves and told my friend and I to come back and hang out.
They have one of those cool jukeboxes that's hooked up to the internet with a touch screen and stuff. I like those, you get a lot more music.
So I would say that this place is good to hit up on a weekday, after work or dinner for a few beers with friends. Talk to the locals! They're all super nice.
