Nice corner pub in downtown CDA. The place is clean with large flat screen TVs at the center bar and along the walls. We came in late afternoon on a weekday and the place had a small crowd. After all, it was still early. We met some locals as well as some out-of-towners - nice crowd. Bartenders were friendly and you can't beat their Happy Hour prices!

Great space, with lots of room for your next after work party. Our bartender was very friendly, knowledgable and enjoyable to interact with.

While I was meandering through downtown Coeur d'Alene I stumbled into this place because it was the only place with a college aged crowd.  Mind you it was in April.  Had a lot of fun though.  Its got a good selection of alcohol and its interior is cool.  I loaded a picture of the bank vault bathroom for guys.  Check it out.

I know the owner of this pub and he is a good man; however, his staff is lacking in professionalism.   On more than one occasion I was accosted by their staff, once by a Barback and another by a Asst. Bar Manager.  The location is excellent, the atmosphere is relaxing but the staff is in dire need of Customer Service 101: How to Treat a Paying Customer.  I would recommend having a drink but never staying very long.

Well I will tell you upfront I am good friends with the owner of this pub and since he was in the Navy and could kick my ass, I better write a great review of this!! LOL..All kidding aside, I really enjoy this place to get my night started when planning a looooonngg night of partying in downtown Coeur D'Alene. I absolutely love the bartenders here. Super people and know what you want before you sit down. The bar is a square bar set in the middle of the building with TV's located above the bartenders on each side of bar. There is a cool raised seating area to the back of the bar that lets you look out over the bar and crowd. They have one pool table here and one dart board. It can get very loud in here with the fun crowd! It also gets packed with the "hip and beautiful" crowd around 10pm on the weekends. They have a full liquor license here, so nothing is off the menu. They have several draft beer choices, and decent pitcher prices. Its great here in summer as you can sit outside along Sherman and people watch or in my case bikini watch!! Really really good pizzas!! The mens restroom is in an old bank vault!!  Love the owner, love the location, love the bartenders, and now they better love me!  I am thinking a shot of patron is in order!! Cheers!!

This is a fine place, but it feels designed to be that way. I've eaten here a few times, and although the food isn't bad, I feel like it's the same kind of thing you get in any town U.S.A. when you ask a local for a suggestion, and they send you to the biggest, most sterile non-chain location they can think of because they assume, I don't know, that you don't want to go where locals eat and drink, or that you don't mind spending more for a run of the mill BLT. Who knows.
I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying it needs more, and it's a little hard to describe what that more could be, but for starters, I guess I expect a place like this to have a kitchen that produdes unique items with a regional twist.
If there is one thing I will say I was impressed with, it will be the Men's bathroom that has been converted from an old vault that's left over from when the building used to be a bank. I've never felt so safe while holding my junk in my hand.

If your more interested in the nightlife here then read up. This is a great bar to meet up with friends at. The bartenders at night are all really cool and wont be shy about topping off your drink if you feel it's a little sub par. If your not a fan of waiting forever for a drink, I would suggest getting there early, between 9 and 1030 before the rush comes in. There's tons of seating around the bar and tables around the entire joint, so go with a group and have some fun. Great place to get the night started.

Best chips & salsa hands down!  Both are made fresh and in house.  I've been here a couple of times for drinks and chips so I can't comment on the food.  It's become a favorite summer spot and cool place to grab a drink.  Service is fine, nothing exceptionally good or bad.

Nice pub and location in the middle of CDA. Inconsistent service quality, nonexistent to superb. They no doubt sell a lot of beer in the evenings. My burger was adequate but I gotta say the hummus was maybe the best I ever had. A generous portion with lots of spice and garlic. Served with ample pita and vegetables.

Ate lunch here with a large group and tried multiple things.  Burgers were great, clam chowder was really good too.  They share a kitchen with the Icon next door.  Food came up fast and the service was great.

I waited 60 minutes for my food... very frustrated.  The owner comp'ed the meal, so it is not a complete loss.

I'm under 21, so I cant say much about the so-called "bar life." I came with an adult and a friend one afternoon when it wasnt crowded and not a lot of people were there. Food: Average. My beef sliders werent very good and were overcooked when I asked for "medium-well". The salads were pretty good and basic, but I was a little turned off by the dressing coming in a plastic side order cup. The service was just fine. One thing that wasnt cool was the number of flies that were flying around and getting in my food. That and the pub was definitely not sanitary.
    Will I go back? NO

The Beacon is a spacious, reasonably classy pub in downtown Coeur d'Alene. I'm guessing that the building used to be a bank; There may be some other reason why the mens room is a converted vault, but you know, Occam's razor and all.

The bartender is kind of standoffish, and he'll serve you some kind of blush if you don't specifically ask for red, and he doesn't pour Guinness properly. He probably can, he just doesn't do it for out of towners because he's kind of passive agressive. He has to let you know where you stand somehow. I'm just speculating about this last part.

The Beacon is the name of an agency I used to manage. Now when I hear the word "Beacon", the color drains from my face and my first instinct is to curl up in the fetal position. Fortunately for me, *this* Beacon was nothing like *THAT* Beacon. For starters, this Beacon was quiet. And clean. And the people were, if not exactly friendly, civil.

The bartender here isn't in it to make new friends, but he'll pour your Guiness (poorly) and get your wine (ask for RED zin, or you'll end up with a glass of pink wine by default) quickly and he won't give you any guff for being an out-of-towner. There are TVs above the bar playing sports broadcasts but the tvs are smaller than what you'd expect in a real sports bar and thus easy to ignore if you're not a big sports fan. If you happen to enjoy watching sweaty men run around in tight pants, you will have to strain your eyes and crane your neck in order to sneak a peak.

There is beer, wine, and liquor and the place is huge. This past Saturday found us front and center at the bar, midafternoon, in the middle of a snow storm. Perhaps the snow was keeping people at home, because there were only a handful of people in the bar with us. They have a long bar menu, with burgers, veggie burgers, and plenty of yummy-sounding bar snacks.

The Beacon was fine, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back next time I'm up visiting. I'd probably stop in for a burger if nothing else was open, but it just felt too sterile and impersonal for me.
