Enjoyed a super thin crust Margherita pizza with friends and watched the bears have dinner at their own table - really!  All pizzas are ultra-thin crust made with their own recipe.

    Pros:
    - Good ultra-thin crust gourmet pizza
    - Friendly, attentive wait staff and management
    - The restaurant sits at a wildlife refuge, which serves as a novel attraction

    Cons:
    - Not too easy to find, and it's out there
    - Limited menu; if you're looking for anything else, you're at the wrong place

    Bottom line:
Novel location with friendly staff and really decent (not amazing) pizza.  We'll be back.  Occasionally.

Holy Canoli!!!  The animals and the experience are worth the trip, but the gourmet pizzas are worth the trip even if the place is closed!  Phenominal.  I'm a chef, and believe me, the focus here is on freshness and flavor.  They have a real stone wood-fired pizza oven that stays near 600 degrees (593 when we were there).  My dad is on a quest to replicate the ginger cilantro salad dressing.  I would love to have their recipe for the crust, I could eat fifteen crusts alone with nothing on them.  They make all of their dressings from scratch and I think they picked the basil for our margherita pizza 45 seconds before it went in the oven.  Out of this world.... and it's difficult with my family to trump the experience of getting to pet a lemur, go in a petting zoo with a baby camel, goats, bunnies, sheep... and seeing tiny but flesh eating deer, capybaras, a baby zebra, rescued injured animals, tons of kinds of lemurs, a beautiful albino monacled cobra named Koby (or Kody), and lots more.  After we ate our amazing meal we took the tram and got to see a zorse and a pot bellied pig who thinks he is a zebra, beautiful zebras, giant horses, and we got to pet and get super close to a whole bunch of camels, including one super special one with a chocolate hump, brown body, white legs, and stunning bright blue eyes.  I recommend this place to anyone who is going to be in the DFW area!   Great experience for my family.

This place is truly wonderful. I had The Purple Pig pizza, which is an alfredo pizza with chipotle raspberry sauce with bacon and onions on top. Absolutely delicious. The staff was all super friendly, and the restaurant manager, Dave, was as personable as they come.
The bears were wonderful. They run, play, eat, and even stare you down. It's not like the zoo where they hide inside. These bears are active!
I drove an hour each way to eat at The Bear's Den and it was definitely worth it. A great idea for a birthday, laid back anniversary, or just a fun night! I definitely will be returning soon.

I love this place! It was very clean and the staff was great! We had the Texican pizza and it is the best pizza I have EVER had! Our kids had the cheese pizza and loved it! They use fresh ingredients and cook the pizza in a brick oven so it might take a little longer but it is well worth it! Plus we got souvenir cups and got to watch the bears in the cool A/C! We cant wait to come back and maybe try a different pizza!

Thin crust with bubbly edges. Margherita pizza was very tasty. A lot of toppings are a available. Would like to try again when they add food choices. Good price on pizza as ours was $12 and good for 2 very hungry or 3 light eaters. Service friendly, helpful, and efficient. Unique experience with the 2 bears in their enclosure at the edge of the patio. Only drawback was the flies. They weren't overwhelming but a bit annoying; of course I don't know how they could avoid them in an open air restaurant with animals nearby. I'll be back to sample more of the food choices. (Note: you must make reservations on Thurs-Sat nights)
