The 1 star is for the Magners on tap that they serve over ice. Â Otherwise, this place would've ended up with 0 stars. Â Just terrible from start to finish. Â
We started with our drink order-- Coke, Magners, Guinness. Â At an Irish bar this shouldn't be too hard. Â It shouldn't, right? Â Well, they completely forgot the Guinness. Â At first we thought maybe they're taking 119.5 secs to pour a proper Guinness, but we were wrong. Â They just plain old forgot. Â It didn't seem that crowded -- 3-4 guys at the bar, a couple at the table next to us, and maybe 3 tables in the back. Â I'm really not sure where this drink order went wrong. Â The second round of drinks wasn't any better. Â While we all got our drinks, my pint glass had a giant, I'm not sure how they missed it, crack down the side. When I brought it to the waitress' attention, all she said was "Sorry, we'll make sure not to use that again." Â Ummm...what? Â She didn't take the glass off the table, offer to get me a new drink, or even give me a new glass. Â Luckily, she wasn't good at clearing the table so I was able to pour it into my dirty Magner's glass. Â At that point, I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. Â
Now for the food. Â Oh boy, here we go! Â We should've known better. Â Our order -- Â chicken tidbits and onion rings, steak tidbits (med rare) and cajun fries and hangover burger (med rare) with sweet potato fries. Â Here's what we ended up with -- hangover burger (well done like a hockey puck) and regular fries, corned beef tidbit with onion rings, and steak tidbits with a salad. Â ::sigh:: Â What the?!? Â The worst part about it, our waitress gave us our food and disappeared into a black hole. Â We ended up having to let the bartender know our order was beyond wrong. Â They tried to fix things, but it was just as bad. Â They cooked the chicken tidbits so fast that the cheese was burnt and the chicken undercooked. Â They reserved us the steak tidbits that by then were 20 mins old. Â I know because under the fresh order of cajun fries was leftover lettuce from the salad that was originally there. Â And the hangover burger was beyond repair, but they did bring out fresh sweet potato fries. Â After all of this, we were done. Â We barely ate and left the rest for the garbage. Â I would've rather waited the extra 20 mins while they made us fresh food. Â They would've at least got another drink out of us. Â Oh well!
So, we ended up with one "Sorry about the mix up" and that was it. Â You'd think they'd want to do a little more to make up for the crap food and poor service. Â Maybe a few bucks off the bill or a coupon for our next visit. Â Something? Â Anything? Â Nothing. Â They sealed that deal. Â We won't be back. Â Honestly, I'm just hoping they took the cracked pint glass out of rotation.
Biddy Mulligans is a good place for drinks with a nice atmosphere, but if you're looking for dinner or munches, I've had better. Â We started with an order of the boneless wings ( medium ) which were more like chunks of chicken cutlet covered in franks hot sauce. Â I had the cajun chicken tidbit sandwich. Â It was a thin piece of chicken chopped up on buttered bread covered with cheddar cheese. The sandwich was accompanied by an order of Cajun fries, which were not Cajun ( neither was the chicken for that matter ). Â The cheese burger we ordered was ok, but the sweet potato fries were soggy. Â All in all I was not overly impressed with the food, however I would go back for the bar.
Review Source:I can only vouch for their Happy Hour, but they had six happy customers happily throwing back $4 drinks.
A nice Irish bar right on the main drag in Long Beach, it offers a nice respite after a cold, windy, and less than spectacular beach day. We all thoroughly enjoyed the connected indoor / outdoor area; outside, in an enclosed front porch with large barrel tables, a large open window to the bar allowed us quick and easy access to our drinks. The bartender was sweet and quick on her feet. Also, she charged my friends that ordered matinis $4 for each instead of ther normal $6 Happ Hour price. That was sweet of her; she more than earned the large tip we gave her. All other drinks boast that happy $4 price tag, from my Magners to my friends' piña coladas to another friend's shot of Stoli Citrus, straight up.
The only downfall is having to deal with the outside elements, e.g. a white busted-up minivan parking out front for 10 minutes, no driver in sight, speakers pumping the newest French Montana song at full volume. At least I garnered some amusement from watching a bunch of blue collar locals cringing at all of this. Ha!
