Loved the atmosphere, beer, and people here - even on a Tuesday afternoon we had great conversation with the others in the bar. Â Everyone was very friendly.
No food, just some snack items (which were meh - I mean, crackers and a tub of fake cheese is an option?)
If we lived up in Woodland Park, this is definitely a place we'd be headed back to, based on the beer & atmosphere. Â As it stands, we head up from the Springs every so often and will probably be back.
Woodland Park, somehow you always manage to impress me. I don't know what it is, maybe I come to WP with low expectations. It's really not the top of my places to visit list. If you find yourself in the area stop here (for what reason, I do not know)! Sample their beer, get a pint, and have a seat! The fire pit outside is nice in the evenings. When I come to WP I never really know when I get to come to BierWerks. It just happens. It's really a matter of how long we've been in the field. The tireder and hotter we are, then the more necessary a cold beer and a chair becomes. On several occasions we were lucky to catch some live music, both outside and inside. Probably weather dependent? On cold days the mulled wine hits the spot, warming me up from the inside and overcoming me with a spicy Christmasy feeling. Oh yea! If you're into things that move and swing...The child in me loves the rotating steins on the ceiling... I don't know why, but when that thing rotates, I just can't contain my giddiness!
My last two cents:
1st cent - They usually have a food truck, I've only ordered from the bbq one before, not bad, but I'll stick to just drinking here. I think the pizza one is overpriced, and again I'll just let the beer sustain me until dinner.
2nd cent - Purchase a bierwerks growler!! The logo is incredibly adorable. A bear, drinking from a stein?! So cute. I always fill a growler to go, what else is there to do at night at camp? Last time I was down here, I forgot my growler at camp. So I'll be replacing it the next time I'm in WP.
I have been there previously and have enjoyed their own craft beer selection, but when I was there July 13th I found out things have changed a bit. Â The brewery no longer features only their own beer. There is now guiness and Oskar blues on tap. Personally I find this to be kind of weak. How can a brewery feature more of other peoples beer than their own (currently they have two of their own beers on tap and at least four that are not theirs)? Â I will go back there but miss their old selection. Â
I do however still enjoy the atmosphere, especially the outdoor fireplace when fire restrictions aren't in effect.
BLUF: Â Beer excellent, Food not.
After fishing at the manitou reservoir, stopped in for a couple of beers. Â I had the schwarzbier and wife had a hefeweizen. Â Kids had orange soda.
They have only cold plates, which come directly from pre-prepared packages. Â Probably get them from the grocery store up the road. Â They did have a guest pizza place out front (separate) that we didn't sample, but it certainly smelled good.
Overall, we will be back. Beers are too good. Â
Notes: Â if you get the sodas, get the whipped cream on top. Â Watch out for the red headed waitress. Â She can be a bit fierce.
1 star taken off for format. Â its not clear whether you order from the bar, from a waitress, etc. Â seemed confusing. Â saw lots of folks bewildered by the process.
Stopped in for a beer after a hike on a Sunday. Â Really nice bartender and wait staff. Â I had the Dunkel (dark brown lager) which was really, really good! Toasty tasting. My friend had the orange cream soda which was delicious! I think they make their own root beer and orange cream soda.
The band playing was a nice touch, relaxing, low key. Â Consisted of banjo, clarinet/sax, and rhythm. Made the whole atmosphere pretty chill.
I quickly looked over the menu which, along with the brews, had some snacky type apps which honestly, did not interest me at all. Â They might be good, but nothing stood out and said "You know you want me".
The heavy traffic right along hwy 24 was a bit distracting but not a big issue. I would most definitely go back.
An excellent brewery fashioned Euro style beer. Lol! I couldn't even begin to pronounce the names of some of the beers they had to offer! Lol! I had a beer that tasted like that sour lemon candy that you suck on that is sour at first and gets real sweet then. It takes a while to get used to it because it is so sweet but after a while it all goes down good! Steven got a cider beer which was equally good! Worthy of many happy returns for sure and with good music playing and a fun staff it is hard to go wrong here!
Review Source:My brother and I stopped off at Bierwerks on the way back from an excellent ski day at Breckenridge. He had spotted it on the drive up and wanted to check it out on the drive back. A great opportunity for us to catch up while I was visiting for the weekend. Their beer was absolutely fantastic.
I enjoyed their Double Red and their Altbier. They have a variety of sizes available from half pints to growlers. My brother enjoyed his Helles blonde lager so much that he left with a growler of it. In fact when we arrived, someone was getting their growler re-filled (at a discount rate than first buying the growler). They offer other options such as homemade sodas and a variety of free boardgames (like battleship) for both patrons and families to stop in and enjoy.
I'd suggest checking out their website which is very complete for a bar in Woodland Park of all places. If you become a true fan and plan on returning, consider joining the Bierwerks Mug Club: $60 oneshot (no annual fee) gives you a mug fit for a King to drink your beer. It's slightly bigger than the glasses that they normally serve their beer in - yet you pay the same price for your beers and your mug is stored on location and easily recoverable (think dry cleaning systems except beer mugs instead of clothes - nifty to see it in action).
Their food options looked disappointing if you want something more than a snack... however given how great the beer is and given the fantastic social atmosphere it definitely warrants a yeeehaw and a return trip should I make it out to the Springs/Colorado if I can.
This was a small but cool little brewery. I didn't mind the beer to much but it wasn't my favorite. Not to much to eat at the place. They have this beer club where you can join and get a huge mug to keep at the place or bring home and bring your own mug back in. Kind of a cool little plan.
