If could rate this 0 stars, I would. Â The BBQ is precooked, kept cold, and possibly a few days old. Â I ordered to go, and they asked if I wanted it warmed up in the microwave or if I wanted it cold. Â Of course I wanted hot food!!! Â Plus, they advertise on their billboard and sign that they have chicken. Â Both times I went there... Guess what, no chicken. Â Brisket was tough and not good.
There is usually only one worker there who both serves and heats up the precooked cold food. Â She is nice.
Overall, Don't waste your time. Â Durant only 20 miles away has great bbq restaurants around the same price. Â It thought it expensive for the quality and selection is limited.
There's two things we love in America, BBQ and Bigfoot. Â In Caddo Oklahoma those two things converge at a roadside BBQ restaurant called Bigfoot Barbecue. Â No they didn't catch Bigfoot and barbecue him, but they did make a mean plate of roadside BBQ.
The restaurant is located between Durant Oklahoma and the middle of no where. Â So that puts it maybe 15 minutes north of Durant on Highway 69. Â If you're going north its easy to get to because its on your side of the highway. Â If you are going south, keep an eye out and be ready to make an almost immediate u-turn at the crossover right past the restaurant. Â Don't blink because its easy to miss while driving 70mph.
Its very possible while you're there you may be the only person in the building. Â Don't be scared, you're north of nowhere and there's just not a lot of people. Â The restaurant is a quiet spot, maybe a bit too quiet if you're the only person in the dining room. Â Maybe they could have some barbecue appropriate country going in the dining room in the future. Â Its table service so there's a waiter, who's probably also the cook, the expo, the runner and maybe the dishwasher. Â The service was prompt, the orders took a bit to get to the table but we had a big table (7 people) and may have overwhelmed the kitchen a bit.
There's plenty to choose from on the menu. Â The BBQ choices as I remember them were: Sliced Brisket, Chopped Brisket, Loin, Ribs, and maybe a chicken and a sausage. Â They had sides a plenty, probably more than you'd expect from a BBQ joint. Â You could order dinner style plates with two sides, sandwiches which have no sides, and kids meals too. Â They had Coke products and cold dark iced tea in both sweet and unsweet flavors.
I had the sliced brisket and ribs on a two meat plate. Â The ribs were great, they were falling off the bone. Â I was served three large ribs with the two meat plate. Â This was a good portion considering some places charge extra if you order the ribs. Â I also had the sliced brisket as my other meat choice. Â The brisket was a bit dry almost like it sat a bit too long in the cooker or the fat was stripped before cooking. Â But it had good taste and was easily revived with a bit of their delicious homemade BBQ Sauce. Â Speaking of BBQ Sauce, theirs was thick and sweet with a bit of kick at the end. Â
Those people at the table that ordered sandwiches got one of the bigger sandwiches that I've seen served from a BBQ joint. Â So often places charge 5 bucks for a chopped brisket sandwich and give you a small bun and no meat. Â This was NOT the case at Bigfoot's. Â There was a huge bun and lots of chopped brisket on the sandwich. Â Ask them for pickles and onions along with some of the delicious BBQ Sauce and you have a real nice sandwich.
If you like sides there were plenty to choose from. Â Many of them were delicious fried things. Â Fried Green Beans, Fried Corn Nuggets, French Fries, and Tater Tots just to name a few. Â They had the requisite coleslaw and potato salad too. Â Try the fried pickles, they were cut thick and had a bit of pepper in the batter.
Overall, BIgfoot's BBQ was a pretty awesome place to eat. Â Its a bit off the beaten path for most, but honestly most of Oklahoma is off the beaten path to city folk like me. Â You may not be able to catch Bigfoot but you sure can catch a bite of his delicious BBQ next time you're in southeast Oklahoma.
