Stopped here for a cup of coffee during a rainstorm.

    Bad mistake.

We entered the restaurant and picked a table in the corner with a lot of old, rustic tools hanging on the walls.  The bench to the booth was loose and lifted/rattled as I sat down.

The coffee served was watery and without taste or coffee aroma.  (Blech)

Even instant Nescafe would be better.

Even though we'd been looking forward to a bite to eat, we decided to get up and leave being highly disappointed in the cuppa joe.

Early starts when on a camping road trip can be rough.  People who don't drink coffee don't understand it's importance as a precursor (or appetizer) to breakfast.   If it is so bad that you prefer to leave rather than eat, that's a bad sign.

Some would say that a place is only as good as it's weakest item on the menu.

All I can say is EXCELLENT!!  Service was fantastic! Loved the home-cooked food in a little rustic diner off the highway. Don't pass this place up!

Waitress was wonderful & treated my kids awesome.

Everything on our table tasted great but highly recommend "Those Potatos".

Great little spot right on the highway in Chemult, OR.  We stopped in for breakfast.  Very country, folksy look and feel to it.  It was quiet (a Monday morning), which was nice, and we got a table by a window (most of them were) to soak up the sunshine...especially nice.  The waitress worked alone to handle the customers, ring the orders and bus the tables.  She was very pleasant and social.   Service was good.  The food was really tasty, quickly made and hot.  I had the "Those Potatoes" order (includes big bits of bacon, bell peppers, onions, cheese, parsley, etc.) with eggs, which was excellent.  I recommend it for potato fans (they have another breakfast potato order that's similar, consisting of onions, bits of ham, jalapeño peppers and country gravy, etc.).  My girlfriend had ham steak and eggs, also delicious.  The coffee was also pretty good.  Prices were what you'd expect in a rural roadside cafe.

All in all, a great experience.  We will definitely stop in again the next time we drive through.

This place is nothing fancy, but it's family owned and the food was good!  Great people watching - a combination of truckers and locals.  It was VERY busy for a late morning breakfast on a Sunday, and there was only one waitress for the whole place, but this lady was working her hiney off.  Regardless, the service didn't suffer and I'm glad we stopped.

This place hit the spot while driving to Crater Lake. It's good old fashioned diner food so don't go expecting to have a heart healthy meal. There are a ton of logging tools hanging from the walls so you'll be entertained trying to figure out what they were all used for.

Their pie selection is huge and I kind of regret not having some myself. The turkey sandwich hit the spot but I wish there was a better option that chips on the side (they were just lays). I'd consider hitting this place up again if I get the munchies while driving south from Eugene.

Driving down that long lonesome highway and it seems quite desolate at 6-7am but as the sun rose, it didn't look too bad in the light. Heading toward Crater Lake from Eugene I finally got on HWY 97 and eventually came across this cafe - one of the VERY few to be open - and stopped. Granted, I didn't arrive at the cafe at such an early hour this morning, but it sure seemed that way! Small gravel lot next to the cafe, easy access on and off the highway, plus a very homey and country look and feeling. Walk in and smell the flavors dripping from the kitchen, then walk over and be seated at a table next to the windows, or at the counter. A bunch of locals were eating - a very good sign and all very content. Had pancakes and was HUGE and very good, along with fried eggs sunny-side-up, and all very good and tasty. Good prices considering that this is out in the middle of almost-nowhere, and just a bit remaining till reaching Crater Lake. A small gift shop of the local area and other items just inside the entrance, with many interesting items. Great place to sit and eat or just have a tea/coffee to get OFF the road and rest and stretch the dead legs if you've been on the road too long.

Restrooms at the very end of cafe; nothing fancy. Check out the old tools and equipment hanging from the ceiling!!

    Hours: Open everyday 5am - 9pm Mon thru Sat - Sundays: 6am to 2pm.
