Last time we went we had our 3 and 5 year old sons with us and received great service. Â If I Â recall the owner was serving us that night, so perhaps that's why our service was so good! Â The food was delicious! Â When possible we eat here while visiting Prescott, with or without kids!
I especially like the feta and olive appetizer, very unusual and savory. Â The 98 and chili pizza is great too!
Hope this visit was a fluke, because the service was mediocre. Â It was prom night so of course it was busier than a normal Sat, but they were very short staffed and kept running out of everything. Â It was 30 min. After we ordered when the waitress informed my hubby they ran out of the special, so it took another 30 to be served. Â The were also out of his wine and crostinis for the brie appetizer. Â Anyway, it worked out but for the price it wasn't great.
Review Source:Overrated. This was my third time at this restaurant and I will not go back. Our server was very nice but told us too much about himself. We didn't care. The wine I ordered was fine but the food was only passable.
I ordered the bruschetta to start. Despite the fact that it was enormous, it wasn't toasted or even hot. Â Just a slice of Italian bread, a slice of cheese and huge slice of cold tomato. I told him this is not bruschetta. Â Bruschetta is warm with chopped tomato, herbs and Parmesan cheese topping toasted bread. Â The waiter walked away to talk to the owner and came back to say that this is the way the make it here. Â Arrogant much? I asked that he take it back to the kitchen and heat it up. Â He did. It wasn't what I wanted but I never send anything back so, whatever.
My entree was 50/50. The pork chops were delicious. But the side cauliflower casserole tasted like gasoline. Â No dessert was ordered. Â I'm done. Â Not going back. The owner had some kind of fabulous previous career but her career in the fine dining business is lacking.
The only thing worse than the food here is the service. Â We just moved to Prescott and went there to celebrate our anniversary. Â As the waitress approached our table, we were discussing "20 years" - she curtly asked us if we were complaining about how long we'd been waiting to order, and we had to explain to her that we were talking about our anniversary. Â Her attitude went downhill from there. Â Beyond the service, we ordered 2 glasses of bubbly to celebrate and had to send it back because it was flat. Â We both ordered steaks and they were awful - over cooked, tough and chewy. Â They should hand out dental floss with the steaks because that's all you think about on your drive home.
Review Source:We have been here at least four times -only because the food is pretty good. However good food does not make up for atrocious service. This bad service starts at the top. The fourth and very last time we went here we brought our daughters family along with us. Our two little granddaughters are extremely well behaved. Well, they treated us like we were lepers. Do not go to this restaurant if you have children with you!
Another example of the nasty service was when good friends from out of town were visiting. They had their grown son and daughter with them and were having a great time in Prescott. They went to Bin 239 thinking it would be a fun place. They were treated so rudely they were shocked. We were not surprised
My boyfriend and I went in here for dinner, looking to try the wood oven pizzas and enjoy some wine. When we entered, we were immediatly seated at a very small table right inside the doorway to the dining area, even though there were empty booths all around the perimeter of the room, and everybody who came in after us had to brush past our table. My purse was knocked off the back of my chair several times as people went by. We were handed a wine list, and had barely opened it and started to peruse it when the waiter came back and asked if we had made a decision. Literally within 2 minutes. One glance at the prices ($8.50 for a glass) and we said "Yes. Iced tea, please".
When the pizza came there was barely enough room on the table for our plates and the pizza stand in the middle. We had goat cheese pizza with pepperoni and sausage and the pizza was delicious, but after eating half we agreed that the wait staff seemed to be rushing us out of there, interrupting us every other mouthful asking how it was. There is a point when you BACK OFF and let your customer enjoy the food!
Needless to say, we never did go back.
This is one of our favorites. It is a special occasion restaurant that always delivers great service, quality wine, and memorable food. My father and I have been coming here for years and it is time to share it with fellow Yelpers.
We always order the baked brie for an appetizer but there are many wonderful choices to pick from. The brie comes sizzling in a cast iron skillet surrounded by pecans, sliced apples, and fresh baked bread. The brie is baked in the brick oven  where the pizzas and other specialty dishes are also baked. The chefs are brick oven specialists and have worked their magic each time we have visited.
I ordered a turkey sandwich with melted cheese, thinly sliced pickles, green chillies, and horse radish sauce spread over sourdough bread. It came with a small salad that is covered in some kind of light dressing that is so good, it is almost painful when there isn't any left. The sandwich was perfectly prepared and I enjoyed every bite. Dad ordered salmon with potatoes a' gratin and salad and enjoyed every morsel.
The wine was quite memorable. A glass of the Seasmoke Pinot Noir that indeed smelled dark and smokey. The taste was unlike any other pinot we have had. It wasn't quite as fruity or spicy as many pinots are but it was delicious. Each dish highlighted a different element of the wine and by the final sip over apple and cranberry cobbler, it had delightfully complemented every flavor.
Reading over the history of reviews it seems not much changes here. Â I guess the owners are in love with wine but forget to bring us, the customers, along for the ride. Â Food was good but not memorable nor especially complementary to the wines. Â The service was not so great and i felt a bit unwelcomed. Â Yeah, i would go again with a group of friends but obviously I need to bring my own entertainment.
Review Source:Came here with my husband and son for a quick in between meal snack. Â Probably not the best idea given that this is a wine bar but my friend raved about this place so I was anxious to check it out. Â We ordered the bruschetta for the three of us and I think our waitress was disappointed by our minimal order that she couldn't help looking a little annoyed even though we were there in the afternoon and the restaurant was not busy. Â And she did not look very happy that we had our 5 year old son with us.
The bruschetta came and I have to say that I was disappointed by both the presentation and taste of the bruschettas. Â It was so unmemorable that I can't even tell you what we ordered . . . too bad since having been spoiled by Postino's (in Phoenix) bruschetta, I'm a little addicted to bruschettas and would have loved to have found a new fav hangout spot at Bin 239.
Alas, I'm not giving up on this place~ I would come here again and give it another try.
my sister and I came here in between lunch and dinner the other day. It was really dark so at first we didn't even think they were open, but after our eyes ajusted the dim lighting was very relaxing. We had the bruscetta and cheese dip, and both were fantastic! Just the right little something to go with a drink. Since the place was dead we had excellent service, and I feel like our waitress would have been just as helpful and personable even if she had full tables. aAll around a nice relaxing experience.
Review Source:The service was terrible. Â Is it possible to give a zero star on service? Â The lady serving us barely checked in, would set something down and walk away without even making eye contact and didn't smile once. Â It was flat out uncomfortable.
Given that this is a wine bar, I was so disappointed in the wine list.  WAY overpriced.  While it's nice to have access to taste and/or have a glass of $100+ bottles, a truly good wine list needs to be well rounded and offer  less expensive options as well.  Additionally, nothing on the wine list was unique.  It was the predictable Cab's, Chard's, Sauv Blanc, etcetera.  How about a wine that I can't get anywhere else? Â
Food was good. Â Tuna was a little lemon-y, certainly nothing special. Â Pizza was the saving grace! Â It was simple but delicious. Â Even so, I won't go back.
Of all the places to eat in town this is one of the best.  I stress in all my Prescott restaurant reviews consistency because it's so lacking in Prescott dining but Bin 239 has always been on the mark.  Some reviewers didn't like the pizza but we've never ordered pizza here so I can't comment on the pizza. When we don't want to risk having a bad dining experience we go here.  We took a group of eight and dined in their courtyard and it was a great experience.  The food was excellent and the owners regularly checked on us to make sure everything was acceptable.  We've also had dinner in the main dining room.  The seating is tight and can get a little funky  when it's crowded.  The service may be slow when it's crowded, so don't go if you're in a hurry, and it can get a bit noisy, but that's the case almost anywhere in town, so be ready for that possibility.  They have an excellent wine list.  Good choice for visitors.
Review Source:Ate here a couple months ago while visiting Prescott. Â Very good. Â One of the best places for food in that town. Â Pizza, or anything bread, is great and it is all made and wood-fired in the front part of the restaurant. Â Sandwiches and Salads also all very good. Â Nice decor with the fire place and comfy chairs. Â There were all kinds of chairs at the tables. Â When we were there the place was crowded and loud, mind you it was late afternoon/early evening. Â The waitstaff was nice and attentive. Â The hostess, who also appeared to be the manager, maybe the owner, was a bit rude towards staff and customers. Â I guess with a full house, she either didn't feel she had to put out the service effort or was overwhelmed. Â C'est la vie.
Review Source:Wonderful Wine bar with great food! Always ask for the wine recommendation of the day.
Very knowledgeable staff when it comes to wine. And they have Chimay Beer on tap...so good. The food is excellent. The wood fired pizza is great with lots of different combinations to accommodate both Vegetarians as well as your hearty meat eaters. The hamburger is well...you have to see it to believe it & do be hungry. Desert is a priority even if we take it home. The bread pudding is out of this world & served with a warm Cognac sauce.
The interior is dimly lit and can be noisy when they are busy which is often. Patio seating in the summer is the place to be. Very comfortable.
I give this restaurant 3 stars but in reality I wish I could give it 1 star for service and 5 stars for food.
The ambiance is very nice and the wine selection is top notch. With that said, the service was pretty sub-par. And it wasn't just a failing at the waiter level but seemingly poor management up to the top.
Our waiter was a nice kid, but he really lacked the polish necessary for working in a restaurant with a large wine list and $34 steaks. His demeanor was nice, but on top of making numerous mistakes, we had to order additional glasses of wine directly from the wine bar.
The special of the evening was a blackened rib-eye cooked in the wood-fired pizza oven. The others I was with had ordered it before and said it was phenomenal. Due to them running on on a previous visit, we called ahead to make sure they had it. The hostess and waiter confirmed they had the rib-eyes; we ordered 4. He came back 10 minutes after our order to tell us that they only had 1. The people I was with were annoyed as this exact situation had happened two weeks earlier. What bothered me was our waiter. Instead of apologizing, he was pleading with us to believe that this wasn't his fault but the owner's fault because she makes them push the rib-eyes and then they always run out.
Finally, one member of our party went over to the owner. She asked if there was a way we could reserve the rib-eyes in advance as the hostess had told us they had plenty. Her reply was, "she's only 17 and doesn't know anything." The owner was overall pretty rude and defensive. After that exchange she didn't once come over to our table to check on us.
The final straw of poor service / management came when we ordered dessert. Our waiter indicated the homemade German cake was excellent. We ordered three only to have him come back 5 minutes later to tell us they were out of those as well.
Ironically, the bus boy / water filler was excellent. They should promote him. Despite having the whole restaurant to service, I always had water and plates were always cleared.
On to the food. It was excellent. I ended up getting the last blackened rib-eye. It ranks among my top 10 steaks ever. It was cooked perfectly and the amount of blackened seasoning was perfect -- not too salty. For dessert I ended up with the (homemade) chocolate pecan pie. It too was superlative to typical restaurant desserts.
Overall, I really wish this place could get their act together as it has so much potential. It's fine if you're the kind of person who can shrug off poor service -- the food makes up for it. However, if you get annoyed and flustered easily, your dining experience may conclude with a proclamation to never eat here again.
I went here for my bday last year, and although I may have already been drunk entering the place, I will give my best review possible. Â
This is the best place in Prescott for apps and wine. Â The wine flight is enough reason to go and try the place. Â Yes, it is pricy, but you get what you pay for with this place. Â The outdoor seating is limited but very nice and intimate. Â The cheese platter and bruschettas were amazing. Â I've had the wood-fired pizza more recently, and it is also yummy, if you like wood-fired pizza. Â I highly recommend this place for late(r) night wine tasting and snacks.
I have to say that this place was a real disappointment. If you have never had good pizza, you might like the food here. We found it incredibly bland. The waitress was not very helpful and when we asked for garlic to sprinkle on our pizza (to hopefully give it a little bit of flavor) we were treated like freaks. I wouldn't go back.
Review Source:With all my choices for pizza in Prescott (both new and established), wood-fire pizza & wine bar advertised at The Bin 239 made it easy to pick the place for entertaining out of town guests. If this were my first visit to "The Bin" I would not have known that the pleasant hostess that greeted us is actually one of the owners, the other owner appeared numerous times wearing an apron and a smile through out our meal (you have to respect real owner/operators). The atmosphere is pleasant, if not a little dark, and seating ranges from barstools at the wine counter, which gives the guest a close-up look at their wood fired pizza oven, to high top tables and even couch seating for a casual date or meeting a group of close friends. With a nice selection of wine, some exclusive (in Prescott), we selected a nice "04 chianti to assist our anticipated pizza. An antipasto platter, which was colorful and appetizing, included fruits (dried and fresh), cheeses (nothing spectacular), chilled meats with nuts and figs, was just enough to entertain our party until the escargot arrived. The escargot, with just enough garlic but not enough butter, was good not great and just slightly tough. The second bottle of wine timed nicely as our entree's made their appearance. With the variety ordered it was fun to share around the table. A table which had to be expanded through the means of pop-up leaves to make space for everything. Cheeseburger Pizza served with pickle slices was good and almost reminded me of a cheeseburger ( I would add sesame seeds to the crust ), The Black and Blue Pizza had tart blue cheese and sirloin strips which was nice with our wine choice, Sautee'd Scallops were huge and tender in a nice butter/sauce but none had anything nice to say about the hashbrown casserole-except that the cracker barrel's is better-Bite Your Tongue!, And Chicken Spinach Lasagna was a smooth change to all the bold flavors. Espresso and some kind of " cookie & ice cream thing" finished our experience off nicely. The sugar and coffee gave us the energy to make it back to the "Speak Easy " smoking room located on property which features a nice cigar menu, large "comfy chairs" and cool lighting.
Review Source:Absolutely delightful!
If you dine out at only one restaurant in Prescott, make it Bin 239.
When we moved into town, we received a coupon for a free glass of wine. Â Since my birthday was coming up, I suggested to some friends that we have dinner here.
Early the day of our outing, I called to make reservations, as we were to have six people. Â I was told, "We don't take reservations. Â We take people." Â I should have know right then that I was in for a treat.
When we arrived, at about 7:00, the hostess told us that they had no tables ready, but if we wanted, we could eat in the comfy seating. Â We quickly agreed. Â And it was fantastic. Â We sat on what were truly comfy stuffed couches. Â There was a fire nearby, and we easily settled in for some great chatting. Â
The wine menu is extensive without being overly expensive. Â We each had a glass of wine, before settling on which of ours was the one we wanted to buy a bottle of. Â
The wood-fired pizzas were innovative, delicious and far more food than we thought we'd get for the price. Â And about halfway through the meal we realized that we were sitting next to the cigar room. Â As the guys went in, I was just happy that it took me so long to notice it was there. Â
We skipped desert that time. Â But on a later date, my husband throughly enjoyed the bread pudding with whiskey sauce.
Honestly, I have nothing but rave reviews of Bin 239. Â I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have.
