Binnekill Square Restaurant

My boyfriend and I came to eat here while staying at the Roxbury Motel. It was pretty decent. Though it wasn't crowded, we waited 10 minutes just to be seated.

We ordered mussels as an appetizer and they seemed to be drowned in some mysterious sauce. My shrimp linguine wasn't too bad.

It is located in a small little town, surrounded by stores. It is also only a 15-minute drive from the Roxbury Motel.

I would return here if I was in the area again.

It's probably the best Margaretville has to offer, but that doesn't say much.  It didn't blow away, didn't thrill either. The price is right.

The beer and wine list leaves something to be desired.  As does the service.

For starters we ordered split pea soup, mussels casino, and french onion soup.  The split pea was bad, tasted like warmed pureed peas, with no spices, or even salt.  The french onion was okay, as were the mussels.  Both dishes were technically fine, but lacked the real flavors that they should present.  

After a short wait, our mains came out.  They were all served with green beans, cabbage, and latke.  I wouldn't be surprised if none of these were made in house.  They were bland.  I had the veal cordon bleu, which while it tasted good, the dish wasn't constructed well and after only a few bites it became a mushy mess.  The other dishes on the table where schnitzel, which was okay, and the rabbit, which was everyone's favorite of the night.  That doesn't say much at all, but it was pretty good.

If you're willing to drive a bit out of town, there are better options.
