Yes the Bird Cage is back in business and I couldn't be happier.  The new location is modern and beautiful featuring the same bar that survived the fire and the origional sign out front.  The place is much bigger than the old one and the stage is bigger.  The same great staff has returned to serve you great drinks and the music on the weekends is going to be great.  The place is a bit of an echo chamber right now but I will assure all you yelpers out there that they have an expert coming in to fix the acoustics which will make the live entertainment sound great.  Come visit this place soon and take in the new bar smell and the great place that is the Bird Cage

The Bird Cage Saloon is back open, just a few doors south of its previous location. It's a work in progress right now but I'm sure once they get all the decorations up and work out the kinks it'll be right back to being one of the staples of Whiskey Row. Great to have the Cage back!

May 8, 2012. Fire broke out in the Whiskey Row district right at this saloon this evening. Don't know the full extent of the damage yet, but these guys will be closed for awhile. So sad to see a part of old history burn. Neighboring businesses also affected by this fire.

This is the new "winner" bar in Prescott, where all the locals are going. its right in the middle of whiskey row and has a great atmosphere- old school Prescott. If youw ant a fun place, where all the locals are going, this is it!  Ask for Brian, he's one of the best bar tenders and is really skilled at taking care of other bar owners who step out of line- ask for a story about Will down at Coyote Joes!  its hillarious...

After several visits to Whiskey Row over the years this one bar somehow stands out. I can't quite put my finger on it but I always have good times here and the live music sounds better - good acoustics perhaps? or maybe it's the location on Whiskey Row which places it about 7 bars down from where we always start drinking...

A must stop on Whiskey Row when your bar hopping down the street, NEVER have had a bad time here. The bartenders pour a great drink and all the locals are super friendly. Live music is always great here, I will always stop in here for a shot and a beer!!

Not bad. The layout reminds me of my favorite places in Austin but the scene isn't there.

So spending a couple nights with some drunk bikers is not my everyday kinda thing but I found myself wondering "Whiskey Row" two nights in a row and I gotta say...I got my kicks. The bartenders look like old biker chicks but can pour a mean drink...sold. After one night the doorman knew me and gave me a hug...sold. Cheap drinks...sold. Anyway, this place was a little crappy esthetically (or whatever) but the people inside more than made up for it...

I visited the Bird Cage saloon last weekend at the behest of my brother as his favorite local band, Cat Fish Mustache, was having a gig there. When he mentioned the name of the saloon, as it were, I was slightly confused, I immediately assumed it'd be a gay bar specializing in drag shows with plump nathan lane type trannys mincing about as an overenergetic and nervous short hairy jewish manager resembling robin williams cavorted behind the scenes preening amongst the talent. I wasnt so much let down as surprised when I found it to just be a shot gun cabin-esque pub that catered to bar flies and thirsty locals. I grabbed a bar stool and bellied up ordering a gin and tonic to start, after that I switched to a Lagunitas and sipped on beer until the night grew browner and browner. Birdcage is a fun spot, just probably not where the younger crowd congregates, which is a good thing in my book. Towards the end of the evening as last call approached and the drinkers slowly fizzled out, it was my friends two sullen bar flies and a wasted couple on the dance floor shaking what the good lord gave em, the lady shaking hers so hard she lost her balance and came tumbling down faster than carole king, she popped back on her feet with the aid of several helping hands and was soon back at it thankfully.

Loud and happening! Busy as it was Saturday Night Labor Day Weekend! This was the place where everyone was hanging out in front off. We went in, the music was loud, the drinks where good, price was right, and a must stop on Whiskey Row. We came we saw, we drank, we went to the next watering hole to the right!

Interesting spot.  Came before the bands and the crowds on a Thursday Evening, and actually thought that the bar mistress was great.  Drinks are a great price, and you can't go wrong if you're having Vodka on the Rocks.  Never never never taint your cocktail with mixers!  DUH!

Anyway, it was fun to come to a no-frills bar with the hubby, shoot some pool, and not leave tipsy and all messed up.

Whilst shooting pool, we were asked by some drunken fool to play the winner.  All the m-f wanted to do was play for beer.  Niether the hubs nor I were having it.  Dude was already messed up, and wanted to shoot pool for beer.  All we wanted to do was get out after our game, but what does one do for honor's sake?  Play the game to lose!  LOL...so, that's what the hubs did.  If I'd have played him the poor sod would have had to buy me LOTS of beer, and judging by the difficulty he had in raising the 0.75 for the pool table, he wouldn't have been able to be honorable.

So, in short...go for the kitsch, the reasonably priced bevvies, and the great bartenders......DON'T go to shoot pool with some drunk who's going to TRY to hustle you!

Going to the Bird Cage is an experience. I'm pretty sure Willie Nelson hit on me and my friend. This is the type of place where you can find men in overalls with no teeth. The band was pretty good, the people were nice (if odd) and the alcohol was cheap.

I'm not gonna lie, I only had 2 drinks here and one wasn't even good.

However,  I like the place, and if you drink beer or shots you can't really go wrong.    The crowd is definitely a little older, which is not really a bad thing.  Not a place I would go all the time or anything, plus I don't even live in Arizona.

There was a live band playing,  mostly crap songs but a few decent ones.

    It is CASH ONLY fyi.

I don't know,  drop by and see if you like it.    I think the fact that it's an old saloon is what makes it cool.

Nice old small bar with cool people and decent drinks. We dranks a few here adn danced a little to the live band. The bad was big sounding and the place was small. I was drunk so it sounded good to me.

This place reminded me of a place in Nashville. LOL

this place is an institution!  the decor doesn't change much, but its been there a long time, and has passed hands throughout the same family.  Always a good drink here, for a good price, always live music, and always a hoot during the christmas parades...

they like to play the price is right at opening each day, and during the prescott rodeo days, this was the one spot that all the families would go to drink, waiting for the kids to go by...

the owners are good people, and keep a good crowd going.  I highly recommend this authentic whiskey row hangout...

So many great towns in Arizona have been consumed by "fake authenticity" (a phrase we arrived at this weekend), it's nice to stumble into a place like the Bird Cage. I can't call it refreshing because it's cramped, dusty, noisy, crowded, loud and chaotic. But it is what it is - an unpretentious bar with great drinks - and doesn't try to be something more.

Wedged into a narrow spot along Whiskey Row, the Bird Cage is popular with the locals and bikers, who seem to keep a wary eye on the tourists. They have live music several nights a week, and the bartenders pour some fantastically strong drinks. If you're wine snob, THIS IS NOT your kind of bar. But, if you can relax, mind your Ps & Qs, and enjoy people watching then you will probably like the Bird Cage.

Stop by during the day light so that you can check out the collection of dead birds, bird sculptures, bird cages, bird craziness.

Bird Cage Saloon is an original, old-west style saloon with a big, wooden bar, narrow enclosures, dim-lit atmosphere, dusty floors, unique characters - and not because interior designers made it that way.  Naturally evoking a sense of "contain yourself, young man", be gentlemanly and just do your business (drink, listen to music, talk or yell if you have to but don't get out of line) while at this historic saloon.  Enjoy the low cover charge, attentive bartenders, affordable drinks and talented musicians from this original Whiskey Row establishment.
