I will never come back!!,  server forgot our appetizer and when steak arrived 8ounces it was extremely rare where I had ordered it medium.  Steak sent back 10 min later cut into it and was rare again. I complained to manager and he said I will cook you a new steak as the manager brought my new steak noticed that the steak looked like a flat iron steak and not thick an plumped he stated it is a fillet and I insisted this wasn't an 8 ounces steak he told me we just gave you a thinner cut but insisted it was 8 ounces.. Well i took this steak home and weighed it .  It was 3.0 ounces. I don't appreciate being lied to,and what was going on with the  cook!!.  Waitress wasn't any better either!!
Review Source:Black Angus has the best steak and prime rib. Â Their teriyaki sauce is so good I can eat it with a spoon! Â But I'm a pescatarian now. Â So last Saturday for my fiance's birthday, I enjoyed their salmon with a side a teriyaki. Â Their food is great with large portions and a free Cowboy Cookie dessert on your birthday. Â It's too bad there's only one Black Angus left that's fairly nearby, but the drive is worth it!
Review Source:I've loved Black Angus since I was a little girl so this may be why I'm a bit biased towards their food. Â Haven't read their reviews so I'm not sure why they only have 3 stars but they get 5 in my book!
I've been to this location twice now, both for a birthday because they gift you a complimentary steak dinner for your birthday! Â Just sign up through their website and you'll receive an e-mail about a week before your birthday. Â Yes, an entire steak dinner up to $19.99!
For the birthday person, I ordered both of them (on two separate occasions) the steak and lobster meal. Â My mom ordered the filet mignon with large lobster tail and my bf ordered their prime rib with large lobster tail. Â I always order their full flavored rib eye steak, medium rare. Â My steak always comes out perfectly cooked and flavored. Â I ask for extra aujus to dip my steak slices, too. Â Yes, fatty status! Â As for sides, my favorites are the au gratin potatoes (they top it off with cheese, it's so delicious), baked potato, baked potato soup and I always choose a salad to make myself feel less guilty. Â Their garden salad is the size of a full plate! Â As for the lobster, they cut the meat out of the tail and place it above the shell so presentation is awesome. Â The lobster comes with a butter mixture that is a bit salty but still tasty.
And now for the best part. Â For birthdays, you get a complimentary PIZOOKIE for dessert!! Â They bring out a fresh, hot chocolate chip cookie topped with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and a lit candle. Â Then they sing to you. =]
Another reason I love Black Angus is for their drinks. Â My bf, hungover from the night before, just ordered a mango-raspberry iced tea and it came in a huge mondo mug for only $3. Â I opted for an alcoholic drink since I wasn't hung over *snickers* so I had their Western Sunset Tea and although it wasn't too strong, it came in a long glass, embellished with some mint leaves and a lemon slice. Â I downed it fast before the meal and felt a bit of a head change. Â It was only $8 so I wasn't complaining.
And one last note, I used to come for their complimentary bread but this time, it wasn't as fresh and tasty as I remember.
The menu is pretty standard for a steak house. Â In other words, no surprises good or bad. Â Service on the other hand can be slow. Â Our steaks are cooked as ordered, standard green salad, baked potatoe or any other side...everything pretty average. Â BUT the bread at Black Angus is outstanding when it's fresh and hot. Â (If its not send it back and get another.). Â This place is your average steak house. Â Good in a pinch. Â Don't expect more or you'll be disappointed.
Review Source:Not so into this place. For one thing I had a bad experience there. Our service was slow, it took forever and we were sitting there a long time. And my burger had something blue in it. The server told me it was just food dye but it was really unappetizing. I don't like to see colors in my burger! He said it can happen on a variety of their foods there. They didn't really compensate me well for this. They gave me a coupon for $15 off my next visit and that was it. I really thought my blue burger should have been free. I sure didn't eat all of it after I saw the blue bit in it. Anyways, another thing is you probably should make a reservation if you want to eat here. They do get full fast and its somewhat popular. You can wait a long time with no reservation. To be honest, I don't plan to go back here anytime soon. I just didn't like getting blue in my burger. So that is that. The parking is relatively easy here though.
Review Source:I had a really bad experience at Black Angus over the Easter weekend.
Me and my sweetheart went there to have a surf and turf lunch. It was not crowded that day and our waitress, Sidney mentioned that she was somewhat in training but would do her best to serve us in a timely fashion, which she did.
But it was when I ordered their version of a long island iced tea that things began to go south.
Sidney, put my drink order immediately in to the bartender, Chris who took so long to fix my drink that I ended up having to call Shannon the floor manager over to let her know it was completely non acceptable for Chris to take that long to make one drink with only three people sitting at the bar and two new tables to attend. He literally fulfilled the drink order of another other table seated right next to us who came in and sat down long after we had arrived.
Mind you, we had went through the bread they bring you, an appetizer and now eating our main course and still our drink order had not arrived. I told our waitress to cancel the order and when she told the bartender, Chris; rather than come over to the table to apologize, he just rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulders as if to say; 'too bad, I don't care.'
Shannon the floor manager, thank God, dismissed him early from work, fixed my drink and did not charge for it. I just thought in today's economy when so many people are looking for a job that Chris' attitude should really be adjusted because there's always another bartender to replace you.
I'm certain I will not be going back here when Chris is working and in fact will call beforehand to make sure. If he is, I will not go or go somewhere else where the customer service is respectable.
Sorry guys for the rant but I was really pissed!
BTW, the food was awesome as usual but the customer service has diminished in the last few years in my opinion.
Another steakhouse review! We came here with my parents on a Friday night, was one of those impromptu dinner outings. We called Black Angus and made reservations for 7 pm and it was available for the five of us, even though we were just giving them an hour notice.
When we arrived at a quarter til seven, the place was packed with people waiting. It was surprising to see so many people dining here, we all agreed that we haven't seen this place this crowded since the late 80's thru mid 90's? We noticed that everyone was willing to wait for at least 45 minutes for a table. Hubby went to check in and they said that it'll be about a ten minute wait for our table. We didn't wait that long after check in, surprising, since there were so many people.
Hubby and I ordered the dinner for two for $54. I thought it was a great deal, until I found out that there are coupons that circulate for this exact same meal for $40! We started with the wagon wheel sampler appetizer, I got the NY steak, hubby got the filet mignon, and a dessert to share! My mom got the prime rib, dad got the full rack of ribs, daughter had the top sirloin. They give you two side choices and that was plenty of food! We all agreed that everything was cooked to perfection, nothing was over or undercooked. The manager was the one who brought our food out, and he is very comical and friendly. Our server, not so much, must of been having a rough night. She wasn't friendly at all, although she was quick to pick up our payment of the bill, and I thought it kind of rude that she was quick to come by and pick up her tip. Initially, I thought she was in a hurry to go home, but noticed that she was still around when we left.
Regardless of the service, the food was fantastic. I'm sure that you'll have an enjoyable meal when you dine here. Unfortunately, I found out that the Black Angus on Watt had closed down, another sign of the times. Do give them a try! It's worth it!
My boyfriend and I LOVE this place! Â The booths are dark with country music jamming (I am not a fan of country music, but it just works in this place). Â Weekly, we get coupons, so occasionally we splurge and go. Â For $39.99 (with coupon), you get an appetizer to share, two entrees and a dessert to share. Â We tend to always get the NY strip, but they do also offer chicken and salmon on that menu. Â The steak is cooked to order and DELICIOUS! Â Another nice touch is that the manager on duty always visits the table to make sure all is ok. Â It seems like they really do care about their customers.
Tip: Choose the wagon wheel sampler as your appetizer to get the most bang for your buck!
My boyfriend and I came here and had the Feast for 2. Â I had a new york steak and he had the prime rib. Â OMG...food coma!! Started with the appetizer platter, then had salads, bread, and our meals- the steak was delicious!!! Â We ended the meal with a piece of chocolate cake to go- YUM!! One of the better meals we've had in a while!
Review Source:This place is very hit and miss...mostly miss. Their coupon specials seem like a good deal but they clearly cut corners and you get about what you pay for or less. Terrible service in the bar, very slow and ill paced. The manager is very Mr. Glad Hands and really doesn't give a darm about your opinion. When he asks how everything is, know he doesn't really to know. These people are going through the motions. We went to Cattleman's the other night and I highly recommend them. I couldn't help but compare.
PS. Look out for the frozen salad and fork that's been sitting for hours in their walk-in. I wonder if that's meant to kill your taste buds....
So My Wife and I came here for our 1 Year Wedding Anniversary and we will never come back here ever again. To start off we had reservations set for 5pm. We got there 5 minutes early and 20 minutes later we were seated. in the bar area. We already knew what we wanted so when the waitress came we gave her our order. It took 10 minutes for her to get us some bread, After waiting 20 minutes our Appetizers came. we had the steak quesadillas which were ok, but I've had better ones come from a burrito truck. 20 minutes after we finished our Appetizer, we got our Salad. no drink refills, no extra bread, no type of attention in any way shape or form. Another 20 minutes after we've finished our salad, our food finally came and there was hair in both of our steaks. We pointed it out to our waitress and she returned the steaks. The Manager came out and apologized and said it wasn't hairs but it was the husk from the corn. The manager told us that they threw those steaks away and are cooking us new steaks. We asked how long it would take and he said another 20 minutes for the both of us. My wife wanted to watch a movie at 7 so we decided to just leave. Once we actually got home we looked at their menu and noticed THERE IS NO CORN ON THEIR MENU!!! ANYWHERE!! I am definitely never going back to this place.
Review Source:We went for happy hour, which is from 4-7 Mon-Fri. They have a decent HH menu, and many appetizers are about half off. The food is pretty run of the mill, nothing to write home about. Two really great things at Black Angus are their fried zucchini with cucumber dip (if you like fried zucchini, you have to try theirs), and their baked potato soup. Seriously good stuff. The grilled artichoke was pretty good too.
Lots of ample space in the bar so it never gets full and you can always find a place to sit. Cocktails are a little watered down, so I would stick with beer or wine.
I like what they've done with the place! Â Especially the bar.
Fair prices, tasty food, reasonable prices (especially if you score a coupon, and they are pretty commonly out there) and like the service and experience in the bar area. Â
A fave of the wife and I for a nice meal and cocktail.
My husband and I decided to try this place again after not going for a few years because of continuously bad experiences. MY MY MY they've improved!
We went for dinner in the middle of the week and we had a coupon. We ordered a dinner for 2 including an appitizer of our choice, two different steaks, and a dessert to share. Our waiter made several suggestions and told us how to "best" use our coupon. He was very nice and extreamly efficiant. We had drinks almost imediatly and our appitizer came out very quickly. The food was all delicious and the steak was cooked perfeclty and about melted in my mouth. By the time dinner was over we had stuffed ourselfs and had no room for dessert. But as it was included with our coupon we got it to go. Even after it had hung out a while in our fridge it was to die for! some kind of cookie thing. Mmmm!!!
So glad this place got it's act together and is doing better. We will be back for sure!
When I walked in the door there was no one at the front to greet me or anyone else for that fact. I waited a few mins which would have been fine but I wasn't addressed until someone was called twice to come the front. The manager and two hostesses showed up which made me wonder what were they all doing in the back?
I explained I had a reservation and was then seated not once did someone apologize for us waiting. Things turned around when my server "Amanda" came to take my order. She was so nice and helpful. If it wasn't for her this location would have received a one star (you cant put zero stars).
Since 2009, a $25 steakhouse gift card has been hiding in my wallet. Â My wife is a vegetarian and my kids don't eat anything besides hotdogs and cereal so until the day came when I could ship them out of town, my free meal would have to wait. Â On Saturday night, when they left for grandma's, this bachelor put on his cleanest tennis shoes, his roomiest pants and set out for Stuart Anderson's Black Angus Restaurant. Â
I went at 5:30pm to avoid the dinner rush. Â I miscalulated. Â That was the dinner rush. Â A Citrus Heights chain steakhouse is not the height of urban sophistication - there are no 9pm diners here. Â The demographic matched more what one would expect to see in an "all you can eat buffet" - old, wide and in need of more napkins. Â The lobby was packed like a cattle car, apropos considering what Black Angus serves and to whom they serve it. Â These were my people. Â I mooed to them. Â No one seemed to mind. Â The wait for a table, I was told, was 30 minutes, maybe 45, so I chose the bar. Â
The bar was exceptionally loud despite the absence of patrons. Â I was one of three people seated in the bar area, but the televisions, the blenders, the waiters congregating at the service bar and the acoustic funnel pouring the heavy murmur from the dining room made dialogue challenging. Â Thank Christ I had no one to talk to.
The two bartenders were attentive - had my menu, water, order all without asking - and young. Â Perhaps the wall behind them bounced their voices back; theirs was the only conversation I could hear. Â I learned that neither was particularly gifted at the game of quarters, both enjoy beer pong, but only if they don't have to drink the beer in the cup the ping ping ball lands in, and both intended on getting wasted after work.
Each dish on the menu is accompanied by a dining experience's biggest killjoy - the number of calories in it - consequently, I ordered the lightest steak dinner I could find. Instead of the 4000 calorie prime rib, baked potato and onion rings binge, I selected a 6 oz. Center Cut Filet, Mixed Green Salad with Vinaigrette and the Sautéed Green Beans with Bacon - a modest 800 calorie meal (without the bread) - and a glass of Rodney Strong Cabernet.  The salad was in front of me almost before the menu was gone, and it was fine - it's challenging to mess up a salad when you live in the most prolific produce region in the world.  When it was cleared my steak arrived promptly after.  It looked lonely and small on the plate with a tiny handful of sautéed green beans.  Six ounces of filet mignon when cooked to medium rare probably shouldn't lose much of its pre-cook weight but this little guy looked a bit anemic, thin.  Sure, it was tender and juicy and cooked to perfect temperature but there was nothing stellar about it. It didn't taste aged or prime and the only thing separating it from an Applebee's steak was that it didn't taste like horsemeat.  The green beans, though few, were glorious as would be anything that's sautéed with bacon.  They were crisp and hot and the crumbled bacon was generous.  The wine, the highlight of the meal, was also glorious as would be anything that could alter my perception of this freak show. I wanted another glass but it would have impaired my ability to rooster tail my Honda at high speed out of the parking lot.  Dessert was not considered and would just have to be picked up at the store in my neighborhood when I got home as reward for safe return and for unloading a three year old burden on my wallet.
The responsible Yelper in me is telling you that the next time you want a steak grill your own or head to a local joint that doesn't specialize in 500 covers a night. Â The masochist in me is telling you to stay tuned for when I use my $25 Chili's gift card.
POOR SERVICE AND RIDICULOUSLY SLOW!!! Â 2 hours for dinner in a half empty restaurant. I had a reservation and my party of 6 was seated. Â 20 min later still no water or sign of our waiter. Â I went to find a manager and by this point Im highly irritated. Â Manager was telling me to keep my voice down as I was pissed. Â Im sorry to embarrass you for your poor service!!!! Â (I had asked for a table on my reservation and we were put In a remote corner where were easily forgotten)
FINALLY we get service and it still took 45 min for dinner to show up. Granted we got free appetizers for the "inconvenience" but that does not make up for 2 hour dinner in a half empty restaurant. Â I personally will not eat here but it was my grandmothers birthday and its her favorite. Â We get better service In Vallejo, Â but on a weekday I can't make that drive. Seriously only eat here if you 2 hours to kill. I personally won't be back unless grandma insists and we have nothing better to do.
Side note: we were here in December and per my reservation I requested a table since my grandma is using a walker. We were given a booth and was told we can't have a table. Not cool...
Great streaks perfectly done and well seasoned! The app sampler was so seventies. Limp azz shrimp, dead potato skins, some sort of chicken strips that would make McDonald's cry with laughter. Â
I had the rib eye and my wife's fillet the next day for lunch and they were still great. A very good sign of high quality meat.
My daughter took me here for a birthday lunch! Â I never had such good food and cannot wait to go back! Â The steak was tender and juicy; my prawns succulent. Â A fresh, large garden salad; vegetables and wonderful rice; and great baked potato! Â Our wonderful server was excellent attending to our every need.
I can't wait to go back!
Went there for dinner w/friends. I wanted to take them out. The choices of the menu looked so very delicious and it was hard to decide what to divulge my taste buds in. We finally decided on what we wanted to eat and ordered w/out server. However, it did take a while for our main entree's to come out. The appetizer came out very quickly though. When my friend got her dinner, her side was cold and the meat was way too marbled. The manager came over and apologized for the long wait for our food but did not offer to rectify it. Overall it was still a good eating experience. The staff was all very friendly and food was still good.
Review Source:Great Steak and Happy Hour
Was craving steak for my lunch break and got the full flavored ribeye. Â It came out really nicely but I should have gotten medium rare instead of medium like I usually do. Â It was still really good! Â Baked potato was good too. Â After all the food that they gave me I was stuffed!
Their happy hour is really good! How good? Driving down to Citrus Heights good! I go here on Sunday nights to watch the game because they have happy hour whenever their is an NFL game on TV. I pretty much order everything off off their menu and drink a couple of beers. Â I like to get their fried zucchini (gotta stay healthy) and their chipotle wings and their potato skins are really good and you get a lot for the price.
The service sucked. I came here today for my anniversary and the waiteress Kelsey was a joke!! She hardly came around to ask if anything was okay. I had to constantly stop her for refills, or to order a drink. I ordered the appetizer sampler which was hard to eat when the food is soaked in grease! Come on people if wanted a heart attack any faster I would have just ordered your best glass of cooking oil. The bread that was served was burnt and the waitress should have been ashamed for even bringing that garbage to us. As for the main course my prime rib was just okay if that, the green bean with bacon was a little difficult to digest, and my cesar salad was the best part of my meal. I doubt will be returning anytime soon, unless the ratings got better and I doubt that will happen. Just saying folks this place is overpriced and overrated. One star for the polite and friendly hostess.
Review Source:My in laws haven't eaten here in years so they wanted to refresh some old memories and check it out.
We had dinner on a Thursday night and it was really slow.
the setting is vary dark and quiet, but in a good way. They have plenty of TVS around the bar area, but dining could see the t.v.'s as well. Our server was ok, I would rate her 4/10. Â She was kind of slow and didn't really check up on us.
I ordered the filet Mignon and it was pretty tender. My wife got the chicken with mashed potatoes, she said it was really dry and had no flavor. Â The In laws shared a steak/lobster combo, which they said both were pretty good. With the free bread and butter and 2 orders of soda, our bills was $102.00 including tip. As you can see, its pretty pricey.
I doubt I would eat here more then once a year(if that even), because of the price. Â Steak isn't cheap and although mine was pretty juicy, its still a really big dent in my wallet. Â I don't order steak too often so I can't say how their Steak is compared to other places, its no Ruth Cris, but it's better then Denny's steak I would say.
My wife reviewed our last experience at this Black Angus and gave them three stars. I have to bump it up a slight notch after tonight's experience.
I'm not normally one for franchise restaurants, but I felt like a steak and didn't feel like getting dressed up to go to Hawk's.
I ordered the Rib Eye, 12oz, with the Cesar Salad and fries. I also ordered a double Crown and 7. My drink was excellent (hard to mess that up, but some do). The steak was ordered medium rare and came medium well. I sent it back and within minutes they had a perfectly cooked rib eye in front of me, and it actually tasted very good. The service was great, and they fixed my order with no fuss.
My wife ordered the Prime Trio, prime rib with lobster tail and shrimp. It was cooked perfectly, except the lobster tail was slightly overcooked.
Overall it was a great dinner for the price.
I hadn't been here since the late 90's with my Dad back when their commercials seemed to be a dare. "We'll give you two 16oz. tenderloins underneath a decadent 10oz. cut of filet Mignon, wrapped in 1lbs. of bacon. Like salad? We're giving you two mixing bowls with your choice of four, COUNT EM four 18oz bottles of dressing. There's creamy ranch, classic ranch, buttermilk ranch, EXtrEME ranch, french, Italian, French/Italian, Pesto, Bleu cheese, bleu cheese ranch. Thirsty? Free refills on all our 64oz mugs a pop and if you finish the first, you take home the mug!"
Well, no one treats you like that except the menu, which is pretty cool and out of the ordinary. As far as the entrees go and what I got to try, I'd say go for the Filet Mignon and the seafood. I've heard the ribeye is great too. I got the prime rib cooked rare and I wasn't too impressed. As far as the sides go, the stuff with potatoes are top notch and if you honestly want to get to starch dishes, dude, go for it. You're at Black Angus.
Our waiter, Brian I think was just sooo cool. I figured out pretty quickly that even though we got there and hour early that we'd be getting out right as they close so I felt bad but Brian didn't let on.
He gave us excellent service, was soooo friendly and just on top of everything.
If you want a steak and can drop a little skrill, I recommend it. Oh they also show plenty of games so it's an awesome place to hang out with your buddies and watch the playoffs right now.
I had made a reservation on "Open Table", but they didn't have our reservation in the system.Thursday night was not crazy busy at 730, so we got seated right away. Â The waiter took a while for her to ask if we needed drinks or anything. There was a birthday going on that night.
The coupon Dinner for two for 39.99 drew us in here. Â 1 appetizer, 2 entrees with 2 sides, and 1 dessert to share.
The Cowboy Steak Quesadillas were good, had a drizzle of bbq sauce so it was different. Â We both had the ribeye for entree. Â Ribeye was yummy, and my ceasar salad was delicious and fries were as well. Â Onion rings were a little small, but the loaded baked potato was yummo.
The Cowboy Chocolate Cookie with Vanilla ice cream was delicious.
Overall, the coupon was a great deal for what we had.
Dear Black Angus,
So yeah... This restaurant sucks!!! I didn't mind the crappy setting. What I did mind was everything was crappy...
So my girlfriend and I recieved a coupon through the mail for the "Campfire Feast" yeah it was cheap (but you get what you pay for)
First off, my rasberry drink was so sweet I swear I needed to chase it down with a gallon of water. The "sampler" appetizer was super greasy, burnt, tough (just nasty chewy gross). It gets better
The entree was an entree off of a "Hungry Man" tv dinner.. I have never eaten such a thin piece of prime rib in my entire life. It was paper thin.. The garlic mashed potatoes were something out of a bag and just add water thing...
Dinner sucked.. Good thing the desert was there. If not, I would've called our local health inspector complaining about the roaches(yes roaches)..
Oh yeah.. The service.. April was her name.. She did a good job.. Too bad you have to ask her for napkins constantly.. That's a waiter/waitresses job.. I know.. I waited tables/banquets/roomservice you name it.. It's not April's fault the food sucked.. It is April's job she works there.. So let's improve your work environment.. One person can make a change..
Our family has been going to Black Angus at this location for 10 years, it use to have a special feel about the place for many reasons, the main one being the great food and portion sizes, it seems that has slowly went away, I am not going to describe the meals we have had I think you can go to their web site and see all the offer, for the price they are just OK, and there are better places for a nice steak at the same price with better quality. It saddens me to see such a popular place slowly die and not seem to have the ability to regroup or reinvent what they are doing to meet the publics expectations.
All in all if you are in the area, have coupons and are just looking to eat a steak by all means hit Black Angus, the Friday-Saturday night lines are gone, the food is ok, the service is good, but if you are in the mood for a really great steak, and prices is not the determining factor hit Cattlemen's, Mortons, Ruth Chris or The Broiler House and really get your Grub On!!
The family called because they had a ton of scrip for the Angus and the one in thier town closed. Â Eight of us decided to hit this one on Friday in case they were all going away. Â I hadn't been to BA in years and was looking forward to it.
As we arrived I saw that the decor and atmosphere has not changed. Â Dimly lit, maze like layout, and high booths that give you that semi private feeling. Â A little threadbare and carpets that have seen better days but this ain't Mortons so what ya gonna do.
The menu boils down to mostly one thing and that is epitomized in the "special". Â For two people you share an appetizer, each gets a meat and two sides, and you share a dessert. Â Plenty of meat choices with Prime Rib, New York, Top Sirloin, Rib Eye, Filet Mignon, Salmon and Grilled Chicken. Â We got the sampler appetizer. Â I had the Rib Eye and requested medium rare minus while Cassandra got the Salmon. Â Sides for me were caesar salad and a baked potato. Â For her mac and cheese and creamed salmon. Â For dessert a big piece of chocolate cake.
The appetizer combo had shrimp, fried zuchini, potato skins, and buffalo chicken. Â Nothing gourmet but the buffalo chicken was nice and spicy and the zuchini was done just right.
The steak was cooked like I expected which was too much.  It seems that the farther down the dining chain you go the less rare they are willing to prepare meat.  Probably because your average budget diner doesn't  like what a true medium rare is.  I would call what I got medium, but it wasn't bad.  Her salmon was moist and nicely flavored.
The sides were pretty good. Â The caesar was the best I have ever had at a chain restaurant. Â Great romaine, plenty of shaved parmesan and not over dressed. Â The baked potato was......a baked potato. Â Screw that up and you better lock the doors. Â Her creamed spinach was old school and good. Â The mac and cheese was not the typical. Â All white cheeses (except for the blue, which isn't really blue but hey) and a little pepper was an interesting change up.
Dessert was a GIANT hunk of chocolate cake with chocolate shavings on top, vanilla ice cream and a little container of hot fudge sauce. Â Once again not a delicate gourmet dish, but appropriate for the place and we both enjoyed it.
All in all a nice meal. Â We took home leftovers and enjoyed the evening. Â Service was attentive enough. Â If you go here and have reasonable expectations you will enjoy it quite a bit..
I've been meaning to try Black Angus for a long time. In fact,  I've been clipping coupons from the Sunday paper every so often for their 4 course dinner for 2 at 34.98. It includes a choice of any  appetizer and any dessert to share and an entree for each person - ie 6 oz filet mignon or 10 oz new york, or chicken. Â
I finally got a chance to use that coupon while visiting my sister in Citrus Heights. Turns out it was my cousin's birthday and we celebrated at Black Angus last night. I brought my coupon, but fortunately our server let us use the coupon for the entire party. Â Thankfully we are a party of 8 so we used the coupon 4 times. We found out that caesar salad was 2.99 extra. Â
Our server was really friendly and very organized. We were impressed on how he took our orders. First he took the orders for appetizers, then the entrees and salads. While we were finishing up dinner he took the dessert orders. Â We had to remind him about my db's water and place setting, otherwise he was on top of things
As for the food, I ordered my filet mignon medium rare but it seemed more on the medium side.  Less one star because I found myself putting A-1 steak sauce on my filet. Doesn't that mean it's not that good? LOVED the garlic mashed potatoes!  I did enjoy  my cesar salad, sampler appetizer (the fried zucchini was really good), and baked alaska (first time I ever had a baked alaska).  My db said the dressing on his salad (he had blue cheese) was too watery.
Food was OK. Great bang for the buck with the coupon.  I doubt  I'll be back anytime soon. I'd rather spend my money on some high quality mouth watering, drool inducing steak houses.
But with coupon, why not?
