I read several of the reviews that "knocked" Black Sheep and decided to make my own decision about this new restaurant to Blue Ridge. I am glad I did! I am thrilled to have a restaurant of this quality in my area - it was needed. The portion sizes are huge and the prices are reasonable. The wine list was 4 pages long with wine I could only get in the Atlanta area for a third of the price. I had baked clams casino as an appetizer and could have eaten 4 more dozen!! They have their own Black Sheep Beer made for them by a local brewery and it was really smooth. My wife had the jumbo lump crab cocktail and couldn't believe how fresh it was. We also had the seafood risotto and salmon - both very fresh. We didn't have any dessert but were offered a pear and apple bread pudding, goat cheese custard and a gluten free choclate cake. Â I did try one of their drink specials it was called Bobbing for Apples and was southern comfort and apple cider on the rocks and they had several other specials from the bar. I do recommend reservations for Friday and Saturday night as it gets very busy. I plan dining there 2 times a month. The wait staff were very professional but very fun. They really work at making your experience a fantastic time. Don't judge this restaurant by other people's poor remarks - You can't please everyone and who would want to try!!!!! PS the snotty remark about the ratty terry cloth napkins shows they didn't understand the concept of the restaurant....The concept is elegant but yet Blue Ridge and around the owner Fanny Butts. The mis-matched silverware and the mason jars along with the (nice) terry cloth towels were fun and made the experience different and memorable.
Review Source:We have been to the Black Sheep almost every week since they opened. It gets better and better. Sure, in the beginning the wait staff needed more training, but the food is fabulous and consistent. We haven't had an item on the menu that wasn't terrific. In fact, we will be there tonight! My biggest fear is that we will call and can't get in for a week.
Review Source:Wow this was a nice little find on our trip to Blue Ridge ! We started off with the tuna nachos and bbq pork belly both were very good , the sauce on the nachos was to die for . For our main coarse we had the penne ala vodka and cowboy cut ribeye . The pasta was good nothing to special but the ribeye was delicious cooked to perfection . This place is a cool little restaurant our teas came out in mason jars and the water in jelly jars . The wait staff were super friendly and very helpful .
Review Source:We were definitely underwhelmed:(. The house is nicely decorated and has a good vibe and the covered porch was really neat.  We were there for dinner and everyone was really nice.  But...  The bread they gave us at the beginning was dry and seemed like it came from the grocery store.  I had the chopped salad to start and when it came out I noticed a hair on it.  They did bring me a new one but the first one had nuts on it and the second one did not.  When I asked the manager about the nuts she said that that salad doesn't come with nuts.  I then asked the waitress and she said it did come with nuts and she brought me some.  I shouldn't  have bothered as tthey were supposed to be candied but very soggy.  The rest of the salad was not appealing. The dressing was just balsamic vinegar and olive oil and all of the ingredients were not very chopped at all.  I also had the scallops with a corn sage butter.  The scallops were good but the corn came from a can or was frozen!!!  There was a lot of it too.  My kids shared the skirt steak and it was good.  A very big portion.  My husband had the pork chop and it was also good.  Nothing too exciting though.  We also had to wait awhile for our food and the bus boy kept asking if we wanted more water when clearly we didn't need any.  The waitress was nice but needed more training on the menu and so did the manager.  I think we will wait awhile to try this one again.
Review Source:Ok- I loved this restaurant so much that I literally came home and helped create a Yelp page so I could review them!!
Black Sheep was recommended to us through local word of mouth as an "upscale, award-winning and absolutely delicious" local restaurant. We decided to give the restaurant a try and were completely blown away. First off, the venue/location is pretty remarkable. The recently perfectly renovated former historic home is beautiful setting and is perfectly decorated. The entire staff from the hostesses to bartenders to waitstaff have impeccable customer service and give a perfect dinning experience. Our waiter had a great personality and his enthusiasm for the menu and restaurant was exciting for us as diners. He perfectly paired our courses [we were gluttons and ordered A LOT) with amazing wine and really recommended amazing dishes. He was supported by a lovely, prompt and attentive helper who, without hesitation, constantly refilled glasses, set new silverware, cleared dishes and made us feel completely taken care of. We met the owner who kindly came to EACH table and introduced herself and thanked us for the patronage. We absolutely loved the amazing southern hospitality and didn't think it could get any better...that was until the food arrived!
We started our night with one of their award winning dishes: ahi nachos. Yes, you read that right. Now, I've had fresh hawaiian ahi nachos before, but our waiter told us how this dish is a house speciality and had recently won a big food award. So- we tried it. Well, it was EPIC. I couldn't believe that our ahi dish in a North Georgian mountain town was better than a fresh Hawaiian version, but it was. Next, we went for another house speciality: mussels. Again, great A+ dish. We then decided order the House duck entree with side of sweet potatoes and fresh local green beans and the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Every morsel of food was gone by the time we were finished. This meal was outstanding. I commend and applaud the owner (whose name slips my mind) for creating such a great restaurant. We were thrilled with our meal and the experience you shared with us.
We absolutely plan on coming back soon and, next time, we're bringing more people!
