My wife and I met a local named Abe. Â He said that Joe's was THE place to eat in Blue Ridge. Â He couldn't have given any better advice.
My wife and I split the combo platter - ribs, pulled pork, and pulled chicken. Â The ribs fell off the bone and perfectly cooked. Â The pork too was cooked to perfection. Â The only negative was the chicken was a bit dry, but did have a good flavor.
4 sauces are available - mild, momma's, spicy, and hot. Â All were very good, but we both really enjoyed the spicy and I liked the hot as well.
If you are a BBQ lover, this the one place to go in the area!
I tried this out because of the good reviews and I gotta say I was really disappointed. Â I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and an iced tea. Â I will say the staff was very friendly and courteous, and the service was fast, I mean fast!
All good so far, then I try it, no smoke flavor, no smoke color on the meat. Â I don't think they are smoking their meat at all, there was no smoke coming from the building, and I didn't see a smoker come to think of it...I may be wrong, but I've had WAY better bbq, and will not go back. Â Also - 1 sandwich and 1 med sized iced tea, $9.10. Â WHAT? Â That should be $6-7 total.
Simple and straight forward BBQ without the seemingly prerequisite BBQ joint decor. Â The environment is colorful and the owner has an eclectic taste in music. Â My wife and I enjoyed meeting Joe at the ordering counter and being walked through his offerings. Â His beer selection was impressive and our choices were ice cold. Â We both decided to partake in his sample plate. Â The chicken seemed a bit dry but wasn't lacking in any flavor, the pulled pork was delicious (I didn't use/need a drop of sauce), and the ribs were some of the best I've ever had! Â I couldn't recognize the dry rub Joe used on the ribs and despite having 20 years of grilling/smoking experience under my belt, I'd be hard pressed to simulate the flavors. They stole the show, no doubt! Â After having visited two other BBQ restaurants during our stay in Blue Ridge, Joe's would be the only one I'd return to. Â Overall it was a fun experience and well worth the cost. Â I wish more BBQ restaurants could break the mold as Joe's seems to have done. Â Â Cudo's!
