My wife and I met a local named Abe.  He said that Joe's was THE place to eat in Blue Ridge.  He couldn't have given any better advice.

My wife and I split the combo platter - ribs, pulled pork, and pulled chicken.  The ribs fell off the bone and perfectly cooked.  The pork too was cooked to perfection.  The only negative was the chicken was a bit dry, but did have a good flavor.

4 sauces are available - mild, momma's, spicy, and hot.  All were very good, but we both really enjoyed the spicy and I liked the hot as well.

If you are a BBQ lover, this the one place to go in the area!

I tried this out because of the good reviews and I gotta say I was really disappointed.   I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, and an iced tea.  I will say the staff was very friendly and courteous, and the service was fast, I mean fast!

All good so far, then I try it, no smoke flavor, no smoke color on the meat.  I don't think they are smoking their meat at all, there was no smoke coming from the building, and I didn't see a smoker come to think of it...I may be wrong, but I've had WAY better bbq, and will not go back.  Also - 1 sandwich and 1 med sized iced tea, $9.10.  WHAT?  That should be $6-7 total.

Simple and straight forward BBQ without the seemingly prerequisite BBQ joint decor.  The environment is colorful and the owner has an eclectic taste in music.  My wife and I enjoyed meeting Joe at the ordering counter and being walked through his offerings.  His beer selection was impressive and our choices were ice cold.  We both decided to partake in his sample plate.  The chicken seemed a bit dry but wasn't lacking in any flavor, the pulled pork was delicious (I didn't use/need a drop of sauce), and the ribs were some of the best I've ever had!  I couldn't recognize the dry rub Joe used on the ribs and despite having 20 years of grilling/smoking experience under my belt, I'd be hard pressed to simulate the flavors. They stole the show, no doubt!  After having visited two other BBQ restaurants during our stay in Blue Ridge, Joe's would be the only one I'd return to.  Overall it was a fun experience and well worth the cost.  I wish more BBQ restaurants could break the mold as Joe's seems to have done.    Cudo's!

We were downtown for the classic car show a few Saturdays ago and decided to try Joe's so we could sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.  Joe met us at the front door and explained the menu.  My sons and I got the pork sandwiches with slaw, and my husband got the platter. We are not generally big fans of BBQ, but the service and the food were excellent.  My youngest said it may be the best sandwich he has ever eaten (and he has eaten lots of sandwiches!).  We will definitely be back.

Charming folks and atmosphere.  Prices a bit high but good portions. No smoky flavor on the bbq but still quite tasty.

It was about 4:30pm Sat afternoon and we were trying to find a decent place that was open right now-not at 5pm with a reservation. When we travel we like to try and eat local, but thought that might be hard in downtown Blue Ridge until we spotted Joe's up on the hill.
We pulled into the parking lot and there was an open sign lit up, but only 2 cars in the lot. Hmm, are they really open and do we want to go in?? About that time we hear this voice outside the car. "Are you lookin for something?" My husband rolls the window down and says Yes! We are looking for a place to eat that is actually open. The voice says" I'm Joe, c'mon in we're open!" We get out of the car and Joe shakes our hands and holds the door open for us.
It was pretty nice inside for a BBQ place, but it has only been open a little over a year. You order at the counter and Joe goes over the menu with you. We placed our order and while waiting Joe supplied us with 2 extra bottles of sauce-one a spicy and the other a white. Our plates came quickly. I had the sampler platter(pulled pork, ribs, pulled chicken, cole slaw and baked beans) My husband had the pulled pork. All the sauces were good, but I did like the white sauce with the horse radish more than I thought I would. It was good on my chicken like Joe said it would be.

As a matter of fact everything was good. The beans were smokin hot and tasty, the cole slaw was homemade, the pork was sweet and tender, and the ribs were  good as well. I would have liked my chicken to be a little warmer, but for white meat it was extremely tender and the lack of temperature may have been a trade off to keep it from drying out.

Joe and his staff checked on us on a regular basis and we left satisfied. We also ordered a BBQ stuffed potato in case we got hungry later. It was delicious with the pulled pork on it.

I do agree with Rob H. It would be cool to have a deck out back overlooking downtown Blue Ridge. I hope Joe can do it one day. We will be back in the Fall for another cabin retreat and hope to get our entire group over to see Joe!

Very good BBQ.  Took the time to confirm that our order was Gluten Free
(though they kept asking about dairy?).
Slaw and Potato Salad also yummy, but the pulled pork was the star.

Barbecue was adequate, but the prices are astronomical for what you get.  I got a "bowl of Brunswick stew" which was the size of a SMALL Dixie cup.  It was 11:45 and they had already run out of potatoes.  They only do twelve at a time?????
To top it off, the owner was rushing tables....kinda crazy since you have to go up and order at counter.  Rushing customers in a lazy small town is not the way to go....will not go back....

Best BBQ in Blue Ridge, GA.

Blows away the other establishment up the road, in terms of the quality of the BBQ and overall taste.  My favorite BBQ sauce they had was "Mom's".  Sorta sweet but spicy at the same time.  I had the BBQ sandwich which came with a pickle and some chips.  Ordered a side of slaw and thew it on top of my sandwich.  I live full-time in North Carolina. . .you have to do that or they throw you out of the state!

Is there anything I would change?  Well, yes. . .

I like fries with my BBQ and you don't have a choice to get fries as they don't serve them.  You can only get "chips".  And, you don't have a choice of chips.  I like BBQ chips but this BBQ establishment only serves plan potato chips.

Joe's is not located in downtown Blue Ridge but you can walk there.  In fact, it is up on a hill and has a great view of the downtown.  I would love it if they could put a deck off the back so you could sit there and view downtown Blue Ridge as you are sitting there eating your BBQ and drinking your beer.  Yes, I said beer.  They do serve it cold and it goes great with the BBQ!

Joe Ray is the owner and a very nice guy. . .in fact, he did my mortgage on my cabin back in 2004.  Did a great job then and does a great job with the BBQ.  If you get a chance, check it out as it is good!
