Place is pretty dirty. Wings are way overrated and don't touch Swallows wings. Â Drinks are cheap and the patios are nice, but there is no parking and the place is so tight it's hard to find a seat or room to breath. Kitchen is open window and the place fills with gross smoke. Walk out smelling like grease. For truly the best wings try Swallows, and for an overall better time go to Colemans's down the road.
Review Source:I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Â The burgers are boring and overrated. Â It tasted like ground beef with no seasoning... I can make that on my own I don't need to pay someone for it. Â It is incredibly loud there and difficult to hear your name being called. Â It took forever to get our food and it was hard to find somewhere to sit. Â this is just a bar that has a couple of food items... Nothing special.
You can't use your credit card to order food and all of the condiments are off to the side in bottles they didn't come from meaning the ketchup was in a mayo container.
This place is over rated and I don't think I will ever come back even to enjoy it as a bar.
Don't let the looks scare you away - yes, it's a bit of a dive bar, and yes, on Thursdays the place is crammed full of Tipp Hill twenty-somethings chowing on 25 cent wings and PBR cans. Â BUT, the food here is very good - they are well known for the Burgers (1/2lb burger for $3.50, and it's one of the best in town). Â The wings are also very good - the hot sauce is hot enough for most, without being so hot they can't be eaten. Â Drinks are cheap, the draft lines are nice & clean. Â They have 2 decks - one for smokers, one for non-smokers. Â Great place for a drink and casual bar food.
Review Source:I was a Thursday night Blarney regular in 2000-2001 and was in this area a few weeks ago. Â I was not disappointed in the wings and beer selection. Â The wings were crisp and hot - just like I ordered. Â The celery could have been bigger. Â But hey, it's a side - always has been, always will be - and I was there for the wings. Â The order at the window took about 20 minutes, but there were a lot of people there this night. Â Many TVs around to watch while I waited. Â Plus the internet jukebox had more than enough tunes for me to choose from. Â A+++ all the way.
Review Source:One of my favorite spots in town, very low key and casual place to go either for dinner, happy hour or later. Bar staff is awesome and friendly, plus there is a great patio for nice weather. Pretty wide beer selection and the food is great. One of the best burgers in Cuse, other food is good plus the kitchen is open late on the weekend. The bar gives out complimentary pizza at midnight and snacks at happy hour. Wings are great as well, I recommend it!
Review Source:Amazing burgers, wings are OK-sometimes a hit and miss,Thursday night is wing night-first timers may not want to try the wings on Thursday due to them flash frying them first and then finish cooking them as the orders come in- its crazy busy but fun night ! Great place for Syracuse games. Â Drink prices are cheap, the environment is fun. You will find all types and ages before 9pm. Blarney Stone is CASH ONLY!
Review Source:From the reviews it's pretty clear that the Blarney's burgers are sublime, not to mention cheap and fresh (not frozen). Â In the summertime sitting out on the deck with nothing to look at but ugly houses suits me just fine.
Now that it's cold and basketball season, Blarney offers 25 cent wing night during all televised SU games (they did on NFL Sundays too). Â While not the biggest wings, they are always cooked to perfection when I ask how I want them.
Friday's happy hour buffet isn't that bad either -- the pizza is good, taco meat like you would expect, and sub sandwiches for the most part. Â Hey, it's FREE food! Â I have no problem whatsoever paying 4.75 for a good microbrew, or 4.50 for the yummy cans of Bengali Tiger by Sixpoint. Â But that's just me, a beer lovin blogger and local beer writer. Â Their regular rotations of IPA on draft is a great idea! I had never had Mission from CA and it rocked!
Jukebox is so Upstate -- Journey and Def Leppard. Â Gotta love the Back to the Future surreal but real down home place. Â Matt the manager is a great guy and always making sure the customers are enjoiying themselves. Â
Great place. Simple food at a low or no cost and great beer and service. Â What more could you ask for? Don't complain!
If you've lived here you'll know this place has changed. It's really not the neighborhood bar it used to be. Beers are as expensive as any other place ($4.50 for a good draft).
They do still have good burgers and fish fry. But every time I'm there they never get my order right if they remember it at all. Anyone who thinks their wings are great haven't had good wings. Their wings are small and the meat in them tends to be black and veiny. Avoid "wing night" as it's overcrowded and they cook all the wings ahead of time and then flash fry them.. pretty gross.
Burgers are good.. but for wings.. better off at Nibsy's down the road or Shifty's.
The food here is amazing. Â I'd pay 8 bucks for a Blarney Burger and be completely happy, but they're $3.50. Â Wings are great, too.
Only reason I'm tentatively not giving the place five stars is because their beer prices are confusing/seem not good. Â There was a sign on the wall that said "Craft Beer: $3.00." Â Ordered a Great Lakes, which is a quintessential craft beer, and it was $4.75. Â What? Â Paying five bones for a beer in Syracuse takes a lot of the shine off of getting cheap food.
Oh Blarney Stone you are AMAZING! Yes AMAZING. I am from Boston but a frequent visitor to Syracuse to see my bff and have a fun girls weekend which consists of eating junk food and drinking our faces off. So needless to say the blarney stone helps us do both.
No it is not really an Irish pub but I am sure if the Irish came here they would appreciate it.
The last time I was there they have $3.00 three olives vodka drinks and well thats just fantastic. They always have a special and the food is cheap and delicious.
I have had a burger and a buffalo chicken sandwich. I also really like the new patio/deck area which is so nice to people watch and get some sun on a summer day.
It is in Tipp hill and it is a local place but thats my favorite kind of place. So find this little place tucked into a residential neighborhood and check it out. It is great!
I don't know why the Blarney Stone doesn't get all that much press...they've got the best burgers in Syracuse yet nobody outside the Tipp Hill neighborhood seems to know about it. I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure that's exactly the way Tipp Hill residents would prefer it.
Owned by the same guy/family, The Blarney is built on the same foundation that its hugely successful older brother PJ Dorsey's was. Owner Steve Dorsey is kind of a dick if you ask me (which you didn't, but whatever), but he knows how to run a restaurant and his family usually chips in and you couldn't ask for friendlier people than them.
Great place overall I'd say.
This  place is dive bar all the way.  They recently built a porch which is nice for the summertime.
We went during happy hour so every drink we had was half off. Nice deal! For food, you have to go to the back of the bar to order, something unusual for me. But how can you skip out on the 20 cent wing specials? I had that with medium sauce and boy were they good! My friends rave about the Blarney Burger which looked so tasty (wish they had Turkey!). Â Other than wings and burgers, it was typical bar food, but no bar pizza!
Service was what it was and the staff was ultra friendly. Not a bad place to go at all!
Blarney Stone is a small pub on the corner of a residential block in Tipp Hill. Â It has an old neon sign, and "Cead mile failte" on the front door. Â As one of the more out of place people in Syracuse, I can agree with "a hundred thousand welcomes."
Granted, this is not a true Irish Pub, they don't exist in Syracuse to my knowledge. Â You won't hear a single Irish accent, you won't see people watching soccer, or anything like that. Â However, they do know how to pour a decent pint of Guiness, well, except when they're in a rush when it gets busy.
And my, does it get busy... the weekends have a strong crowd, but it's not so bad that you can't get a drink in a couple minutes. Â Exception would be during SU basketball season. Â The Orange fans turn out in IMPRESSIVE force at this local pub. Â The staff bring out extra TVs to make sure the game is viewable from almost everywhere.
While I'm talking about drink, the prices here are quite good. Â Ranging from $1.75 for a pint draught of PBR to $3.75 for that wonderful black stout. Â Specials are posted above the bar; seems to be a special for every night except Thursday... more on that in a bit.
The crowd is significantly Tipp Hill, mostly Syracuse, although there are a quite a few people from the outskirts. Â It's a really good mix. Â But the Tipp Hill neighbourhood is very well represented, and it adds to the sense of community in this pub.
Oh, and the food. Â Usually, people want cheap, plentiful and tasty food. Â Often, they're told to pick two of the three qualities. Â Not here. Â Yes, you're going to get fried bar-fare, but it's going to be GOOD bar-fare. Â Thursday nights is discount wing night, hence no drink special. Â Bring a serious appetite. Â However, you may want to tell your vegetarian friends to eat before they come. Â There are french fries and mozzerrella sticks, but they seem to be fried with everything else.
The pool table is your small coin-op variety, $1.00 a game. Â It's a good table, although the cue ball gets stuck once in awhile. Â The staff behind the bar are quick to give you a dollar back if something goes wrong with the table. Â The house cues are okay, if you're hardcore, bring your own; there are a few who do. Â Be prepared to compete for the table, there are some good amateur players here.
The jukebox is one of the new computerized ones. Â It's a bit expensive, being $1.00 for two credits, or 13 for $5.00. Â But if your song isn't on their main playlist, you can retrieve it from a list of thousands for an extra credit. Â Pricey, but good for when that song pops into your head and you just NEED to hear it.
Some of the best conversation is to be had on the back stoop, where there are quite often a bunch of people smoking a cigarette and enjoying their beer. Â Towards the end of the evening here, the place quiets down, grab a seat at the bar and chat it up with the bartenders and the others determined to close the place with you at 2 am.
All-in-all, Blarney Stone is an all-around good neighbourhood local pub, doing a great job at being everything for everyone, and, best of all, bringing people together for a good time.
