I'd have to say this place is extremely hit and miss. I've been going there for years and years. It's for the most part the same crowd of 18-25's mostly but with a mixer of older people as well. Depending on the night and the band you can go anywhere from an excellent show to a horrid open mic night experience... The sound system is very nice and I thin the decorating since the remodel is great, but sometimes you can't control the crowd that shows up :) Â I will go back again I'm sure but without a decent band it just feels like another muskegon bar.
Review Source:There's a little magic when you get out of Chicago and head out to nearaway places such as Michigan and realize that we pay too much for everything! I had the great experience to hit up the Blue Note one random weekend and was greeted with a slice of small town Americana.
The Blue Note is the brainchild of Michigan transplants to Chicago who have replanted themselves back in Michigan after learning the ways of Chicago drinking, rock 'n' roll, and outright partying. Greeted by a raucous rock band in a bar with people smoking, rocking out to music and all the while having a good time, it seemed like I was right in Chicago.
Talking to the sound guy, I found out that he used to work at the House of Blues in Chicago. The lighting setup on stage was primo professional grade and added some atmosphere and character to Blue Note. The pool table is sweet with plentiful supplies of chalk and straight cue sticks while the drink specials and stiffness of the drinks would tickle even the most stubborn of sticklers.
Let's not forget that there were cute girls in Saturday night outfits and friendly people from the great state of Michigan. While I was nearaway from home, Blue Note had a familiar feel to it. Check it out if you are vacationing in the Grand Haven area enjoying the clearer waters of the eastern side of Lake Michigan.
