Caught the recent show with Matt the Electrician and Susanna Choffel at Blue Rock. The show was excellent and the venue is beautiful - The crowd there was a little older and quieter than I had expected.
Since I arrived just before showtime, I would like to return for a show where I could see the property during the day (it looked like it was a very interesting and beautiful property).
Blue Rock is a Studio/Venue/Destination that really sets the bar for facilities of this nature. Â Artists from all over stay at Blue Rock for inspiration, practice, and to create. Â The grounds are beautiful, and the staff (led by the owner team of Billy and Dodee Crockett) are *so* warm and welcoming, you'll think you're a special guest in their home - which you will be - they live here, too.
The monthly public-facing events are magical. Â Blue Rock runs a concert series, presenting quality performance art (mostly folk/acoustic/singer-songwriter music) to an intimate audience. Â Tickets sell out quickly, and *some* preference seems to be shown repeat visitors. Â The venue is the large living room (great room) of the main house, which is set up perfectly for this use. Â Friends of Blue Rock sell snacks and drinks in the kitchen - but there's no "real meal", so eat before you come (Trattoria Lisina?), and have dessert here at intermission.
Wonderful, wonderful - if you're lucky enough to attend, you won't be disappointed.
